Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead This was our Featured Book for July! July is far from over, so don’t fret if you aren’t done reading it yet, or if you chose to only read the first in the series. I just happened to read all three of them in one day apiece already because I’m amazing…or because I have too much free time! lol
Okay, so for those that have already finished it, who are your favourite characters? I like Rose best and Christian second-most. heart I’m not sure who I’d rank after that…Mason, Dimitri, Lissa, and Adrian probably all tie for third!
I can’t wait for Blood Promise to be released next month! biggrin I’m scared for Adrian because [SPOILERS AHEAD] all of the men that fancy Rose seem to end up dead or worse. Yes, I’m referring to Dimitri, of course. I'm wondering if he's going to be relieved when Rose comes to kill him, or if he'll try his new Strigoi compulsion: "You should let me turn you too, Roza, so we can spend eternity together." *shivers with anticipation* We’ll probably have to wait for the sixth and final book for that confrontation to happen, though. xp
You know, I wonder if ALL of the Strigoi are as bad as we’ve been lead to believe. We’ve only seen them from Rose’s point of view, and she was raised to view them with fear and disgust. She was also raised to look down upon blood whores, and we know from Dimitri that they aren’t as bad as people make them out to be. As a result, I’m having trouble think that the entire race of Strigoi are COMPLETELY EVIL. I’m not denying that Isaiah, Elena, and the ones taking out the Moroi royals are, but ALL of them? confused I have doubts. After all, Natalie still loved her father after she changed.[SPOILERS OVER]I can’t find any good fan art regarding the series sad so I made my own! razz Unfortunately, I'm more of a writer than an artist, ergo to create this I needed to use Microsoft Paint and the Anime Face Maker, which didn’t have a short ponytail for Dimitri (as well as a few other details that I wanted to include), but I tried my best with what I had. At least I was able to make all of Moroi paler than the Dhampirs! cool

I love these books. I've been waiting eight months for Blood Promise! :3 My favorite characters were Mason and Rose biggrin . I love Dimtri because he is just awesome. Adrian made me laugh so much smile Christian was cool, and I liked how he paired up with Rose to defeat the bad peeps. ^.^ And Lissa, her relationship is her boyfriend is so cute smile
I adore how Rose is such a strong female main character. That is very rare in a most novels. Mason was just amazing. Simply it. I cried and cried when he died! crying
Oh goodness, I didn't make the connection of Adrian and everyone else. Ooohh I'd be even more upset if something happened to him sad . Haha, I wonder what the next book will bring. Will it just be Rose searching for Dimitri? Hmm.. I don't know.
Hmm.. as for the Strigoi, I don't think they are completely evil. I think they still have some of their emotions and such, but they have complusions so strong, they can't control. Such as Dimitri loves Rose, and I think he'd feel that, but his complusion to kill her or make her one of them overpowers anything. Though I have a feeling in their confrontation, he will have enough willpower to hold himself and not do anything to Rose. I am not sure, but that's my theory.
Overall, I think the faces are pretty good. I have got to read the books in a couple months so I need to reread them anyways biggrin

I agree; most of the time when authors make a heroine instead of a hero, the girl's personality annoys me. Rose kicks arse. razz
I think Christrian and Lissa are very cute together, too! 4laugh
Geez, I LOVED when Rose and Christian teamed up like that! biggrin I like how they're finally developing a sibling-style relationship. Remember how protective he got when he thought she was going to kiss Adrian? 4laugh

These are most definitely my favorite books. Of course i love Rose. She's strong, independent, and sassy, That's my kind of girl. Dimitri is definitely second because he's just GODLEY. I loved how Adrian, Christian, and Mason made me laugh so much with their comments. Blood Promise is certainly going to be a treat, but i have to agree with you, Minerva. We really won't get that far since it's only the fourth book....and there are going to be six. [spoilers ahead] OK so, i just found out that the fifth book comes out April of 2010, it's title is Spirit Bound. I simply can't wait for the completion of the series. With all the bad that has happened i want it to end happy. I mean poor Mason being killed, ad then Dimitri turning strigoi. I've cried over this book twice already, and no doubt there will probably be more tears to come. I hope Dimitri keeps some of his goodness. Because when Natalie became strigoi she didn't seem all that different....except for her eating habits that is sweatdrop . So maybe Rose will be able to control Dimitri...AAAAAHHHHH I'm going insane....i need it now. Go VAMPIRE ACADEMY!!! And Minerva, i really like the Mia face, plus the devil Rose and angel Lissa!!!! 4laugh

Ohh, I went to Richelle Mead's website and she put a chapter of Blood Promise up. It was very interesting. smile I can't wait for the new novel biggrin

*Sighs at her neglect to gaia and the guild* Oh my Goddess!!!! Vampire Academy!!! I'm currently rereading the series in preparation for Blood Promise. I'm already on Shadow Kiss.....and have read the first chapter of Blood Promise..........I may have a major obsession with vampire books, but this series trumps all others. Hmm......Rose is my favorite. Why you ask?? Well, she's not afraid to hold back with any of her passions. She doesn't let stupid rumors mess with her. [SPOILERS AHEAD]The rumor spread by Jesse and Ralf was so bad, I can't blame her for letting it get to her. Stupid Mia. I hated Mia for doing that, now that she isn't so bad, I don't hate her. I certainly don't count her as one of my favorites, but I don't mind her. Minerva, your theory about Strigoi does make me go 'hmmmmmm..........I wonder........' Side note on how obsessed I am..........I have dreams about the characters......and when something reminds me about Mason or Dimitri I have to hold back tears. Well, that's all I have to say for now. Oh, the 'Oh my Goddess' thing is from another obsession of mine, the House of Night series.

Like Oh-My-Gosh I just finishes the three that are out today and I thought they where the best books ever! MY favorite character is hands down is Rose. After that I think it wuld have to be adrian I mean he is just so damn funny. I am so exited to read Blood Promise I mean I love the way that Mead does the vampire thing I mean it is just so awesome I loves her soooo much. But don't even get me started on how much Mason means to me I mean he is just cool I don't know but I love his humar I could be with him forever and just keep laughing hrough it all. Lissa is cool as well I like her she cool I guess but Rose, Adrain, and Mason are mytop three Lissa, Dimitri and Christian are kind of all in the same running.

I read Blood Promise. [SPOILERS AHEAD] I HATED the beginning. Adding alchemists (go-between for vamps and humans) is very cliché. The Belikovs were nice, but it was boring having Rose stay with them for so long.
However, once Rose got abducted by Dimitri and made into his personal blood whore things got interesting! cool I’m glad that I was right about him not being completely evil. *does personal victory dance* It was great that he wanted to turn her, but didn’t want to force her.
The climax scene where Rose helped Lissa go against Avery, and Lissa broke Reed’s nose, was hilarious! rofl I’m sure that in the beginning of the next book Christian and Lissa will get back together. After all, it wasn’t Lissa’s fault that she acted badly; Christian just needs a little while to get over it since it hurt his feelings. 3nodding
The next book will probably pertain to Rose and Lissa finishing school, and starting to fulfill that prophecy about Lissa being a leader. The final book will be when they heal Dimitri’s Strigoi-ness.
This makes me worry about Adrian. He cares about Rose, so what will he do when Rose gets Dimitri back? Mead killed off Mason for loving Rose, and therefore being “in the way” of her star couple. As I said months ago, I’m worried that Adrian will be killed off, too. sad [SPOILERS OVER]
Overall, I thought that Blood Promise was decent, but it’s my least-favourite in the series.
