My friend Kikioblack has been sending me a lot of information she has found out about Animal Rights groups. She has been working with a dog rescue and has found out some pretty interesting things from it.
The ARL (Animal Rescue Liege) kills 85% of adoptible animals that come into their rescue. The animals they kill only have minor behavior problems and could be adopted to a loving family but they don't give them a chance to live. Any kind of pit bull breed will be put down because they are known for fighting, along with most German Shepard's and Rottweilers. Old animals and sick ones that come into the ARL are also put down with no treatment. People all but throw money at them to help animals but what they are really doing is using the money to euthanize.
PETA- Is known all throughout the America for being an extremist animal rights but in all reality a lot of them could care less about animals. They use animals as excuses to close down things they don't like and say it's in the name of animals. PETA has also made certain animals illegal to own unless you have a permit. Such as Bangle cats, partial wolve mixes, and others I can't think of off at the moment. Because of the laws now in place Bangle Cats and over half wolves are put down if confiscated or found.
They also make it hard for any animal lover to make a rescue to help animals from being put down. They through huge legal battle and even sue privet groups for trying to make a difference in the animal world.
PETA was first intended to help and save animals from being treated curly and to not be tested on but as the many years when on the new leaders of the group have corrupted the irrational intent.

The stuff about PETA is true, but I'm not so sure about the ARL (Animal Rescue League). At least in my area they do a lot of great things. My aunt used to foster cats for them and where I live they run a program called "Spay Waggin'" which is a low cost spay and neuter van for needy families that comes to your town and spays cat+dogs all in a few hours. They get all of their shots, fixed, and microchipped for between $65 and $85. That's how we got our Koga fixed and they did a great job with him.
They also have plenty of adoption centers. Obviously you can't save them all though and when their time is up, some animals will have to be put down. I'd feel safe donating money to them because I have seen first hand what they do for animals, and if it wasn't for donations they wouldn't be able to run programs like the spay waggin and families like mine wouldn't be able to have this affordable care.

Hmmmm PETA are more a business than an animal rights group. They use their funds to pay a full staff while most animal rights groups are volunteer run. Am a lil unsure on the league as they kinda don't operate in my country. But most ANY activist or will tell ya PETA do more harm than good to the reputation of animal rights worldwide.

I'm in agreement with most folks here. I'm not fond of PETA at all. Any good ends they reach are not justified by their means or other ends to otehr projects... I've never heard of the other one.
I actually just read an article about a zoo (in Alabama or something, I think?) that just lost their newborn African elephant calf. Total accident. The baby stumbled and fell over. Mother tried to turn around and help and accidentally ran into it instead. Unfortunate crap like that happens in nature, too, and human mothers can accidentally trip over or drop their children. It sucks, but it's a possibility and part of being a living creature. Apparently, there's some "animal rights" group stating that it's "yet another example" or how horrible it is to breed elephants in captivity. That the mother doesn't have proper time watching other mothers raise calves.

The thing about the zoo is sad. I guess the ARL in my area is just really bad, I've heard good things about other ARL's in different areas. The one I live close to won't let people foster their animals.

Ugh, you're right about PETA. I've never heard of the ARL, though. It's so disgusting how they claim to "protect" animals when they just slaughter them! scream

Yeah, PETA is a sad joke. They're just rediculous. My second grade teacher brought up a good point about them. They're famous for throwing paint on fur coats to protest animals being killed for clothes. I totally agree with their point there, killing animals for fasion is horrible. But, when you think about it, ruining coats like that is just going to get more animals killed, because the person who owned the coat is just going to go buy another one.
