As the title says, what kind of music do you listen to when reading?
Does the type of music you listen to depend on the genre or just a certain series that you are reading?
Or do you just not listen to music when you read because it is distracting or perhaps for some other reason?

Usually I'll just listen to anything. I'll have some kind of instrumental music playing most of the time.
But for some reason when I read Dragons of Winter Night by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman all I listened to was One Republic's cd Dreaming Out Loud over and over again. I just thought it went with the book's tone. Now whenever I hear a song from that cd, my mind always goes back to Dragons of Winter Night. The song "All Fall Down" by One Republic always makes me think of Sturm. crying

I have a playlist of my favorite songs on my iPod and I replay those songs over and over. Slightly depressing songs are generally my favorite. (I know I'm weird. biggrin )

When I read the Anne of Green Gables series, I had to read it for summer reading the summer before 7th grade. I could not get into it. Once I did get past the first few chapters, I feel in love with it. The whole time I spent reading it (a day tehe) I was replaying Carrie Underwood's first CD smile . Now when I hear certain songs, I think of Anne, Diana, and Gilbert. biggrin A lot of Lifehouse songs remind me of Harry Potter though. Also 'Our Farewell' by Within Temptations and 'Bad Day' by Daniel Powter are teo big ones that remind me of HP also.!

I can't hear one set of words while concentrating on reading different words at the same time, so I listen to instrumental music, or nothing at all.

anything I have really, I enjoy loads of types of musics and styles. I enjoy soundtracks of movies with mixed artists because I'm more of a song person than a band but I do enjoy Boys Like Girls, All-American Rejects, A.F.I, Pink, and Relient K enough to own their albums.

I also enjoy reading while the tv or a movie is on, I do it all the time whether I'm reading for fun or school. It's great background noise.

I listen to anything. But if I really want to concrete on the book, I listen to slower music.

I used listen to an internet radio station called "Whisperings- Solo Piano Radio" while I read. It's a great station if you want to relax and listen to something good and still be able to concentrate.

But, eventually, something happened and now I don't listen to anything at all when reading. 3nodding

I also like to listen to the band Nightwish whenever I'm reading a fantasy genre book. They just get the fantasy feeling going in there music i believe. 3nodding

I heart Nightwish, and their song "Elvenpath" is perfect for us! biggrin Nonetheless, I don't listen to songs with lyrics while reading.

When I read Harry Potter, I listen to the HP Soundtrack! (and I also sit by all my HP posters wearing my HP scarf, I just get decked out in HP smile ).

When I am reading anything else, I usually tend to listen to slow piano music because I don't have to concentrate on it. I can't listen to anything with words because I concentrate on the song and not the book. Otherwise I don't listen to music at all.

And Ark of Yamato, I listen to that station all the time. Your right, its a really good station!

Scratch what I said before.

I listen to pop, rock, and alternative rock, and a little techno. Big fan of Flyleaf, aka BEST BAND EVER!!! But Boys Like Girls, All Time Low, The Academy Is...., Cute Is What We Aim For, Silversun Pickups, Anberlin, Green Day, Hollywood Undead, Blink-182, JET, Cobra Starship, Cage The Elephant, 30 Seconds To Mars, Rise Against, The Product, The Used, The Killers, Senses Fail, Hoobastank, Daft Punk, and Clinic are insanely awesome. All are among the highest of the most listened to songs on my itunes.
