Young Wizards is the only series that I like that's more on the sc-fi than fantasy side. I love how their magic is explained because it seems much more realistic than most other series.

My favourite character is Kit. I think he's so funny! Plus, "Kit" is such a cute nickname for Christopher! whee

My favourite books in the series are 1, 2, and 7. They are so amazing!!!

My least faves are 3, 5, and 6. I appreciated how book 5 included cancer and 6 included autism, but I think that they both dragged. I disliked 3 because we got to know Dairine, and she's just as obnoxious as Nita and Kit. I think that having too many characters with snarky wit makes the wit lose its impact.

I hope that Kit and Nita get together soon. I'm so tired of waiting! I think there's only meant to be 10 books in the series, and 8 are already out, so it MUST be soon! exclaim

Tom and Carl are a cute couple, too. Everyone else that read it can tell that they're lovers, right? It's not stated outright because the series is for younger people, but in Duane's other series Tale of the Five almost every characer is bisexual because it's part of their religion/culture. Duane is big on representing forms of sexuality other than hetero in her books, which is nice.

Does anyone else have any thought on the series?

I read them like 4 years ago, but I really enjoyed them! I need to reread them. I could completely tell that Tom and Carl were together! I'd say I really liked 2, 4, 6 and 7. I liked 1, but rereading the series, it dragged for me just because I already knew how it worked. I didn't mind Darine that much, and I heart Spot...just something about a sentient computer manual was cute. I just really need to go back and reread them...A Wizard of Mars is supposed to come out March 2010...that's a long time coming!
