Glory of Sekhmet bluerain202 That is soooo awesome! I see the pic, so so worries, okay? Is that you by the way? Because if it is, I am super jealous biggrin It wouldn't load from the facebook url so I had to take it into photobucket. It is a bit annoying as most of my good recent Egypt pics are on facebook.... This was my first time, when noone got their work permissions back in time to work, so we just traveled around for three weeks nd visited everything *happy dance* Sounds quite awesome biggrin I'm "blue" btw, I slip in and out of our guild. Are you an Egyptoogist? Intern? What sort of work were you doing in Egypt?

I am an art history grad student, one of my professors has a dig site I work on - the Temple-Town Hierakonpolis site.

Glory of Sekhmet Champagne Jane ah that looks like a blast! nice hat, it gives off an egyptologist explorer sorta vibe. thanks wink it is my Tilly Hat it has survived a lot of archaeologist type abuse for a very long time and still cleans up just fine. It is the best hat ever, and I just wish I could afford one in black too
black? wouldnt that cook your head?
ive been wanting to go to egypt for awhile but my parents have told me to hold off with all the political issues going around right now. did you have any problems with traveling or were restricted from civil unrest? or is the media hyping everything up about everything over there?
i think when i go id like to do a nile tour, do you have any suggestions of places to see?

Egypt is fine, it's nothing like Iraq or Iran, there is no unrest there at all. Well, the last time I went to Egypt was 2007 and it was fine then, I'm sure it still is.

Actually, most of the adult women in the village cover up in blak, I don't realyl see much difference in heat, honesty. However, I was thinking more towards somethign for everday use at home.
I never noticed anyhting political going on really, but I was with a small grop with my professor, we stayed in a very small hotel that this dig group has used for many years, used local transportation quietly (train) and had an apartment we rented in someone's house.
Places - Cairo museum, Giza plateau, Saqqara, Medinet Habu, Noblemen's tombs on the West bank of THebes, Luxor temple, Karnak temple, Edfu Temple, Deir el Bahari, Deir el MEdina (maybe), Colossus of 'Memnon' maybe, Abydos, world war II memorial and museum near Alexandria, ALexandia - these are the places I have been so far. I have not yet been to Philae, or any ofthe really far south places.
