ATTENTION, fellow SHINee fans!!!!

I am in need of help. No, not mentally or physically, but school-wise.

See, in my AP English class, we have this project where we have to analyze the rhetoric of people/band/group/whatever we chose and write a six page essay on it with at least six examples.

And YES! You guessed right, I chose to analyze the rhetoric of our beloved SHINee boys <3 !!

And so, what I request--and possibly later on when I'm reaching my deadline--DEMAND from dear fellow fangirls and fanboys is that you guys help me on this project with your vast and awe-inspiring knowledge of the boys we so ardently love (and possibly worship depending on the level of obsessiveness you're at).

So basically, to get down to it, this is my project, and this is what I would very much appreciate from you guys.

I need you guys to list (as many as possible) what SHINee's purpose(s) are/is! (ie: to marry each other, to eat ice cream, to cross-dress, w/e)


THAT is the MAIN thing biggrin


PLEASE BE SERIOUS!!! I don't mind jokes, but at least turn in a serious suggestion along with the jokes if you're gonna do it.



And for rhetoric, well, this is a brief (trust me, this is brief compared to what do in school) overview of rhetorical devices if you've forgotten or haven't taken courses that high yet:


:::::RHETORICAL DEVICES / TECH / STRATEGY::::

~~~~~~THIS IS FOR WRITTEN / VERBAL STUFF~~~~~~~

1. STYLE ANALYSIS:
- diction (use of words, ie: they use english words sometimes to emphasize/bring attention to)
- detail (like how they describe things and how thorough, etc)
- syntax (like sentence structure, punctuation, etc)
- imagery (like how they describe things--almost like detail, but how vivid they can make pictures appear in your head)

2. ADVANCED RHETORICAL TROPES AND SCHEMES:
- this is easy: it's like metaphors, personification, zeugma, anaphora, allusion, anaphora, hortative/imperative sentence etc)

3. SOAPS
- S: Subject--what the hell they're talking about
- O: Occasion--ie. birthday, concert, random everyday, w/e
- A: Audience--who the hec they're talking to, or to whom the song or the tv show is intended for
- P: Purpose--why they're doing / singing / talking / whatevering whatever it is they're doing
- S: speaker--clearly, SHINee--but you can get even more specific and say which member

4. ARGUMENTATIVE STRATEGY
- ie, like minho got a nose job because he needed it to fix a breathing problem and it was necessary because he sings...you get it.

5. ORGANIZATION OF PASSAGE, COMPOSITION, STRUCTURE
- this mainly applies to the songs--like why bridges are placed where they are, why minho raps at this certain place in the song instead of another, etc...

6. APPEALS
- Pathos--appeal to emotion--could be applied to pictures or written stuff / songs, like Sanso Gateun Nuh, they're appelaing to emotion by saying you're like oxygen and he/they need / deeply love you.
- Logos--appeal to logic: could be applied to both pictures and written / verbal stuff--ie--see the ARGUMENTATIVE STRATEGY example. For pictures though, say that you say Jonghyun likes Key in a romantic way (only an example), and you can back it up with something indisputable or logical, like a video of them making out or something or whatever
- Ethos--appeal to authority--ie the doctor said Minho would sing better if he got a nose job, so Minho went and did it.

7. OPTICS
- Yeah, I forgot how this one works, but I’m hoping one of you will remember—it’s about analyzing pictures, and all that. I’ll post more on this once I get the OPTICS paper from my teacher.
