It's happened to me before. My files get corrupted and I can't work
on them anymore, or the program crashes(and I can't save) gonk
That's probably the main reason I caved and bought SAI paint tool.

OH YES that's my nightmare....
But what usually happens is that I delete some layers which I thought hold nothing at all... XD ... and I just noticed I erased some details after like... 20 mins. and I have to restart drawing those details scream
I prefer going back to the WIP than starting over

ยป Its happened to kal!! you should know all about that dots lol Not only do i lose my art works, but my graphics too. Damn those viruses!!
Before i start cging a piece of art, i tend to load the lineart on photobucket, so just in case i lose the art, i can start again, even though its a pain.

My computer has issues aaaaall the time (I shouldn't have named it Uchiha >_>)
I've learned through these freeze ups that... saving after I've worked on something is important. T___T There's been more than a few times where I've sketched, did the lineart, then started coloring when it up and froze on me... No save to fall back on.
Now I've taken to saving after I've finished working on each layer (skin, shoes, ect) but occasionally, I'll forget... >.> And that's when it'll crash.
I think the worst loss was six hours on something, no saves, then my comp froze.

It never happened to me actually.. But I'm not a real cg person anyway.
It only happened to me once that I merged the sketch layer with the outlines layer AND accidently saved it.... that's was a pain when I re-did it all again......

I neeever get the BSOD D:
That must suck. I do however, on rare occasion, lose my artwork from photoshop crashing. Or OC. That thing used to crash allll the time cus I was using a cracked version and it would just lock on me and i couldn't do anything about it. Not even screenshot it, because a window popped up in the middle of the screen. Needless to say, I stopped using that though XD
Usually I'll just.. start all over I guess e_e Only if it's a commissioned piece XD If it was just a personal piece I would be too fed up and just ditch it all together. But the second time around it's usually not as good because I have the image of what it used to be in my mind and I can't ever get it to look the same.

i usually just say C'est la vie and move on to a new piece.
haven't recently had such problems though, because i tend to auto-save every 30 seconds, and when my photoshop glitches or computer crashes, nothing much ends up lost. o.o best not speak too soon though...........haha

Usually when I do 3D at school the program crashes but I save a lot so not too often. It's kind of disturbing that I think ctrl+s or file>save even when I'm drawing with a real pencil.

Ooo~ that happened to me once~ tho it wasn't too bad for me cuz it was an experimental thing~
but what ticked me off was that i lost about...3 years worth of art from one of my art folders being "recycled" by my dad>w< (i drew a lot of sketches back then) It had all my OC ref sheets and completed art from 05~! sigh* T___T

Once upon a time I was obsessed with the band Gorillaz... it was like 3 am and I was working on this really cool (at the time, cause I sucked now that I look back but I was not aware of that before xD) oekaki, it was the whole group, really really cool, and I was staring at my screen, so into coloring and so proud... but then the power went out.
First of all... I'm horrified of the dark, haha. So the second it happened I was like "NOOOOOOOOOOO WWTTTTFFFF" but the second after I was like... crying eek *fear of dark taking over* crying I sat in my chair for about five minutes breathing heavily before I got up in the blink of an eye and sprinted to my bedroom, jumped into bed, pulled the covers over me and squeezed my teary eyes shut, forcing myself to sleep xD
so, well, in short... it really made me so mad and disappointed... the next day I redid it but I was really not motivated.
pretty funny though the dark thing, I remember it perfectly whenever I think about it xD fastest I ever ran..
and once when I used to do pixel dolls I made this freaking amazing one and the pc crashed
oh my god I was gonna punch the computer
at first I was in denial
I was like, oh, ok, screensaver mode....
2 seconds later...
stressed stressed stressed *blood pumping*
burning_eyes scream
hahaha well now I save about every half an hour
and twice usually in a row
haha I'm so paranoid now xd

ah that has happened to me more times than I'd like to think. I just attempt to redraw it as best as I can and honestly it comes out better the second time almost always....
