Kyla_Ewens Every time I go to the main forum and see this thread it makes me think of an ad I saw on Comedy Central. They have two couples in a theoretical situation, one met through e-harmony, the other couple met up through something like "bootycall.com" or something like that. gonk The girl from e-harmony starts talking about how she wants a good relationship, and the guy she's with looks all horrified and offended....the girl in the other couple giggles like an airhead and starts groping and making out with the guy she's with. sweatdrop I know that not everybody's looking for a relationship, and some people just want a one night stand. But...I find it kind of gross that the ad presents a stable and healthy relationship like it's a bad thing. Like women who want relationships are bitches. I have seen that commercial! It pisses me off beyond all reason. I just wanna smack the people in those commercials and remind them that hey, its not a bad thing to want a relationship and is just as normal as wanting a one night stand so suck it. My only question when I see it... e-harmony is quite obviously set up to find someone to start a relationship if you just want a one night stand why would you sign up for it in the first place? Sorry its just that website and its commercials are one HUGE pet peeve for me.

3nodding I'm with ya Sanzo. I mean...I suppose if there's a site that sets up people who aren't looking for a serious commitment, I can see how that would be a good thing. But yeah, why would you go to e-harmony to find a one night stand? xp Couldn't you just go to like...any bar anywhere? My problem is that they don't just say, "Hey, try our service if you're not looking for a long term thing." They instead they make it look like people who actually care about each other, and want a relationship are stupid sweatdrop

They actually have another commercial where the guy I guess is all in love with the girl and asks her to marry him, she literally kicks him away. Later in the commercial she walks past him with another guy calling him a loser when he's on his knees holding up flowers for her. All I could think is, wow uber b***h aren't you? Not only that but in that commercial I guess the guy who owns the company whatever comes in to promote and literally says this sentence "did you know marriage is the leading cause of divorce?" I seriously wanted to beat the guy with a bat, you ******** can't get divorced unless you get married in the first place dickwad.

WARNING! Gross generalisation coming up:
See, the thing is, women are more likely to SAY they want `no strings attached`or whatever but maintain a secret agenda to suck the guy into a relationship.
Men are more likely to pretend to want a relationship just so they can get laid.
I think that ad was intended to humourously point out that maybe being honest is a better way to go, and that people who want to just fool around should go to lavalife or some similar site.
Incidentally, I tried eHarmony (just for the hell of it one day, I wanted to see what their personality test was like) and apparently I am one of those people they don`t know how to handle...

>.> I'm with Kals. I'm pretty sure those ads aren't really supposed to be taken seriously, while at the same time getting their plug across.
After finding and watching the one Sanzo was talking about (I've only seen it like once before), I'd like to point out that the commercial clearly points out that this is after their first date (>.> and I'm sure anyone would get freaked out if after your first date, the guy proposes to you...). The key part of the thing is that the company/whatever is focused on a casual approach to online dating, as opposed to things like e-harmony that say they will find your soul mate so you can go and get married in like a week. So yeah.
>.> I found the line 'Did you know that marriage is the leading cause of divorce?' kinda funny actually...
But yeah. >.> Just saying.

Yeah, eHarmony is a Christian-based dating site, and all gays and lesbians, unless they go through church-approved brainwashing to make them "get better", are obviously evil, satanic demons. rolleyes mrgreen
