Okay, so I've decided to come back to Gaia after a few years of absence. In that period of time, I managed to do what I've wanted for so long, get the final piece to my perfect avatar. I finally go to the shop and purchase said item, only to find that when I equip it, I get an error. Whenever I try to save any changes to my avatar, it says that there's a "data registration error". They say that the item I'm trying to equip is not in my inventory when it is.
I don't know how customizing your avatar has changed, so any help would be extremely appreciated. Thank you.

I've never heard of that. o_o
Have you tried clearing your cache and trying again? Or removing all items and putting them back on? They did some kind of "normalization" a while back. If you've been gone that long, that might be the issue.
