you know what i find weird in my school. every year there are three drum majors. or four, im techinically in two schools, cuz im in 9th grade but im in a jr high but im in the high school marching band its weird anyway. in both schools there is at least one low brass player as drum major. in the high school, for the last 6 years there was two baritone players, one tuba, trombone, barry sax, and a tenor sax all were drum majors. in the jr high the last 3 years there was a tuba player as head, a tenor as assistant, and this year the head and one of the assistants are trombone players.

but for next year we wont have any low brass NO!!!!

we have for the jr high one trumpet, 2 clarinets and the head is flute

in the high school the head is drummer and assistants are trumpet, and mallet percussion/flute/oboe-clarinet/piano/sax player

it sucks i dont want low brass to be left out NOOOOOOOOOOO

and i would also like to know how drum majors work in your schools too.

We have two our senior drum major is a tuba/trumpet/sax/clarient player and he can get on my nerves at times but he's my best friend.

Our other is a junior clarinet player. She spends ALL of her time Devoted to them. Only cause it is the only thing she plays.

They do not get along at all. I don't Get along with Mary. Noone ever watches them that much anyway......plus band trip is in two days.

We only have one that can be active at a time, but we have 4, one of which is me.
Head is Kendall, she's a percussionist.
Second is Caroline, she's a flautist who joined band this year and is so annoyingly good at flute.
Third is Becca, she's a flautist as well. She's the only drum major who actually wanted to do it, and has been talking about it for years.
Fourth is me, trombone of course. I actually got last place in every category, even marching which none of the other three had done prior to the audition.
And actually, my preparation for the audition was talking to last year's head drum major and she asked me for my pattern, and I did it in 4 and she just was like "It's.... good."
And we had to do calls, such as horns up and attention, which I failed at.
Then he asked us a question: If you were not chosen as head drum major, what would you do to help the head drum major?
And I said: Well............
...
I would say "Pay attention to her!"
