Welcome to The Dragons Keep!

What is The Dragons Keep?
This guild was formed because of the very active Incubator thread in the Dragon's Lair guild. The original Incubator thread started nearly a year ago with only a dozen Dragon Cave scrolls. After a few months, the Incubator's scroll count began to rise and the thread started to exceed post limits. So, a new Incubator thread was created to accommodate its "growing pains." The scroll count continued reaching 100+. Because of the activity and posts in the thread, it was decided that the Incubator had outgrown its subforum status in the Dragon's Lair Guild. In addition, other breedable and adoptable threads also were becoming active and needing more room to grow. All of this prompted the creation of The Dragons Keep.

What does The Dragons Keep offer?
1) The Incubator will continue its operations here for the Dragon Cave folks. Guild members' scrolls and their dragons (eggs and hatchlings) will be displayed in The Incubator. This gives members a chance to view other scrolls and see the various dragons there. It also allows members to see the grown/development of their dragons in the Incubator. Eggs and hatchlings can be placed in the Incubator using either the tiny url codes or the BBCodes. Simply leave the code by posting a message in the Incubator thread.

*** See the 2nd post below on posting your dragons in the Incubator ***

*** Also see the 3rd post below on giving permission to aid/ accepting aid for your dragons in the Incubator ***

We do allow guild members to post their friends' (non-guild members) scrolls, eggs and hatchlings in The Incubator. Guild members can also post their friends' dragons along with their own (designated as "sitting with permission" for those eggs/hatchlings).

Because we abide by the rules of the Dragon Cave (dragcave.net), other people's dragons will be posted with a guild member's scroll ONLY after getting the owner's permission to do so. This includes any eggs bred for another person and abandoned eggs; you must obtain the new parents' permission. Failure to comply with this rule will result in the member's scroll being removed from the Incubator.

And, again following the TOS of the Dragon Cave, NO multiple Dragon Cave accounts are allowed in the Incubator. Failure to comply with this rule will result in the member's scroll being removed from the Incubator.

2) The Infirmary is for those eggs and hatchlings needing special attention (ones under the 3 day and 23 hours mark). The Infirmary is updated at least once a day and offers "dragon walking" to help those needy ones. If you want to be a "Dragon Walker," contact one of the mods for more info.

3) Inactive Scrolls are members' scrolls which currently do not have any new eggs or hatchlings (usually because of real life interferences). It is merely a holding area until they acquire new eggs and then they are moved back into the Incubator. However, if the scroll remains inactive for a prolonged period of time, the member will be notified to confirm their scroll status.

4) Class of (month) is where the adult dragons are posted and kept for a month.

5) In Memoriam is for the dragons which do not survive.

6) Miscellaneous - Incubator statistics which are done monthly to record how successful we are with getting our eggs to mature; Top Ten Breeders to see who were busy little keepers for each month; Top Breeders of 2009 which features the top breeder of each month; and more!

What about other breedable pets?
There will be subforums for other breedables and adoptables such as Valenth, unicreatures, Komuri, etc. We want everyone's pets to be welcomed here!

Who can join The Dragons Keep?
Anyone! It does not matter what kind of breedable pet (or not) you have as long as you are friendly and follow the rules.

Who can we ask if we have any questions about The Dragons Keep?
If you have any questions, need help, or want to suggest names of new members, do not hesitate to contact Willa-Wisp or any of the crew members (names to be listed soon).

Help us to help you! - Dragon posting rule in the Keep

As you may (or may not) know, the Incubator in The Dragons Keep guild has been steadily growing and growing since the guild opened. As of today, we have over 70 active scrolls in the Incubator. And last month, we hatched over 1100 adult dragons!

With this increased volume of scrolls and dragons, it's taking quite a while ... even with the fastest computer ... to edit/update the scrolls in the Incubator and to put together the Infirmary group each day. It takes me about
two hours to do all this on my fast computer and, on my dino computer ... yikes!

What really slows the works is updating the scrolls in the Incubator and Inactive group. When the guild was smaller, this was not an issue. Now, that we've gotten so big, this added hour per day has become a time burden on all the mods. So, help us to help you!

Starting on Friday, July 3, all members will be required to post any new eggs/hatchlings in the Incubator thread. If you are already doing this, thank you!!! These new eggs/hatchlings will then be posted on the member's scroll. Also if any eggs/hatchlings have been abandoned or given away, members will be asked to post that info as well. Members can continue to update any family or friend member's eggs as long as the permission statement is on that person's scroll.

If a member fails to contact us, the guild will not be held responsible for any egg/hatchling deaths. After that member's eggs/hatchlings have grown to adulthood and no new eggs/hatchlings have been posted in the thread, their scroll will be placed in the Inactive Scrolls.

Inactive Scrolls will no longer be checked. When an inactive member posts new eggs/hatchlings on the Incubator thread, the scroll will be moved back into the Incubator.

We will continue to go through the Incubator daily, checking the times on the eggs and hatchlings there. Any eggs and hatchlings under 3 days and 23 hours will be placed in the Infirmary group for walking.

Thank you for your help and support of the Keep!

Permission to aid your dragons - 6-12-09

There is a new change in the Dragon Cave which affects everyone's scroll and dragons in the Dragons Keep guild.

When a member joins the Keep and has your scroll and dragons placed in the Incubator there, you are giving your implied consent for us to watch over and care for your dragons (from eggs to adults). If your eggs and/or hatchlings dropped below the 4 day counter, they are placed in the Infirmary group and walked around to get them the crucial views/clicks to save them.

However, when we started going through the Incubator today, we found a new statement on many members' eggs/hatchlings ... (see example below)

User Image

Because we abide by the Dragon Cave TOS, we need everyone to change your account settings to also grant us permission to help your dragons. Until this done in your account, your scroll will be put on a temporary Inactive status. This means your eggs and hatchlings have been removed from the Incubator. They will be no longer collecting any clicks/views there and we cannot place them in the Infirmary group if they drop below the 4 day counter.

In order for us to keep helping your dragons, you need to change your aid status in your account settings. If you're not sure what to do, go to your Dragon Cave scroll and click account settings. That will bring up your settings window and you need to do the following ... (see example below)

User Image

Again, once you've changed and confirmed your account setting to "accepting aid", contact one of the Keep mods (myself and pd2care are on at least once a day, if not more on some days). Your scroll and dragons will be returned to the Incubator and we can continue to help them.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM me.

Thanks! ~ Willa biggrin
