after you march any parade over 3 miles you hate them... Field Shows, plus on parade there's nothing to think about to take your mind off of how much your arms hurt from your baritone....

Bearer of Bad News after you march any parade over 3 miles you hate them... Field Shows, plus on parade there's nothing to think about to take your mind off of how much your arms hurt from your baritone.... I agree with you 110% I used to dread Parades because all you think of is, "Straight line, Makes sure your ranks are straight, are you in step?" BUT in field shows you are like, "WOO, Fit the form Ricky!, Did i get my drill correctly?, did i do my visual at the right moment?, Am i playing my Baritone Solo right???, Oh No! Black Hole Box alternation set!!!!" Field Shows all the way. Baritone all the way. Band ALL THE WAY! biggrin

I honestly love doing anything band related so I guess both.
But if I had to chose, then I would definately say my field show. In a parade, it's usually just the same songs over and over again. That and the long ones do tend to make you feel really tired. But overall, I just love the challenge of the show. I love the music and the drill is cool. I definately love doing visuals too! The past two years, my band director has had some sort of visual where we all fall over at some point. And this year we even got to throw our hats! It was awesome!

I would probably like parades more if we didn't just play our fight song a million times. Last year, we switched between that and one other tune, but this year was nothing but the fight song until the very end of each parade, when we played the other piece once. We were supposed to play a Christmas medley at our holiday parade, but top band never got the music, so we did the fight song. At least field shows aren't as repetitive.

I hate parades with a passion. Mostly, it's just because they're so hard for me. I have no trouble with the show, but with parade marching, I have trouble breathing, and my throat closes and I nearly pass out from lack of oxygen. Doesn't really make for a fun experience, all in all. Besides, you generally just play one easy piece over and over (or at least in high school you do - college gets a little better).

Field show without a doubt... The first parade was fun, the second...the march through hell. Although I am a tad excited for the one that's coming up. First time marching mello for months 8D It's going to be fun to figure out how the whole transfer from Mello>Winter colorguard>Mello is going to work out eek

I prefer field shows to parades since parades aren't really that creative... I love being able to put sets with music, it keeps me in step and it makes everything look better.. I also believe that field shows bring people closer together as well. Another reason I hate parades is because until this year where I was on an end, I could not keep myself in step to save my life, but this year it all came together.
