So, I'm eating some beef stew right now, and I realized that my favorite part of it was the vegetables, not the beef. And then a bunch of other thoughts jumbled into my head that I forgot right now...
So I guess just talk- -favorite parts of beef stew -homemade vs store bought -other stews? -stews vs soups vs chowder

I love vegetable soups and clam chowder with oysters in it. My cats usually lick up the leftover chowder. whee I do not like stew. I dislike red meat. I like vegetables in beef broth, though... Homemade is totally better, but harder to achieve.

Beef stew is annoying. No, seriously.
Well, okay, I only think that because I'm the only one in my family who knows how to make it. My family just loves it. However, since I use either game meat or actual stew beef for it, it takes three hours to make the stuff.
Also, I'm in a competition that involves having to make...what else? Beef stew. (Actually, muskox stew, but the principle is the same.) So I'm making it once a week, like clockwork, and I'm really growing to hate the stuff. Turning potatoes may make them look pretty, but it's not worth the effort. Trust me on this one.
So, yeah. Beef stew irritates me these days.

Hmm... Low turnout.
I can't say I hate any part of Beef Stew. If it's missing any ingredients the whole thing falls apart. It's not as if it's truly a meat lover's dish to begin with. There are far meatier things to enjoy.

Hey now, don't judge too fast. I've had chocolate bars in which there was no chocolate or chocolate liqueur - and it wasn't white chocolate, either. It was just a really bad-quality chocolate bar. It's possible to have beef stew that is called such merely because it has beef stock in it. Of course, this tends to be the low-quality stuff. If it doesn't have the stuff it's named for in it, it fails and you shouldn't eat it. whee

I eat these hamburgers, right?
I don't even care for the meat, I just want the buns. That pair of hot, steamy, sweaty buns....
.... Are we talking about food? biggrin
