(This is Supertheory, BTW)

Would it be possible to set up a guild investment fund?

100 shares are sold at a set price, say 1000 gold - all the gold goes into a pot.

Each share represents ownership of 1% of the pot.

Someone who is good at vending/exchangewhoring spends a month vending.

At the end of the month, the pot total is divided, where each share owner gets whatever % of the pot he/she owns.

You have an option to reinvest your money, but each month, shares are set at 1% of the pot of the previous month. (say you make $250,467, shares become 2,504g each), or shares can stay a constant 1000g month, but you HAVE to re-buy each month, and it's first come first serve or something. I haven't quite figured out what would work best, but hey, this is just a suggestion.

it might be easier to follow if I post the convo I had with Prim.

What would be cool is if we set up a "guild investment group"
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
And you buy "shares" - each of which represents 1% of the group pot.
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
And each month, you get x% (where x is how many shares you hold) of whatever is in the account.
Sylvia says:
You should suggest it in the suggestion box. o:
Sylvia says:
Cold would probably s**t herself, since nobody uses it. Ever.
Sylvia says:
And she's very gung-ho about suggestions. xD
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
there are three topics D:
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
And two of them are by cold!
Sylvia says:
Exactly.
Sylvia says:
It's so underused and it's one of our better ideas. xD
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
well
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
say you had 100 shares, at 1000g each. That gives you 100,000g
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
Someone spends a whole month vending that gold
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
and at the end of them month, you get whatever % back where the % = your shares
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
Say at the end of the month, we get 250000, and you own 1 share, you're getting 2500g back
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
And then you can do the next part one of two ways - you can rebuy shares at a flat 1000g each month
Sylvia says:
*Nods*
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
(and this will apply to everyone)
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
OR
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
You could change the cost of a share to = 1% of whatever the pot was the previous month.
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
So month one, 1%=1000g, you end with 250,000. Month two, 1%=2500g
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
which is more like how the stock market works.
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
and it encourages people to leave their shares in.
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
because then the spending pool becomes 250,000, rather than 100,000
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
and it grows and grows
Koo - THOR CHINCHILLA says:
and eventually we're wheeling and dealing in dragon horns and deviltails.

I know there would be issues finding someone who would be willing to assume responsiblity of something like that, and it would have to be done in a mule account. We could post a list of who owns what shares in a Stock Thread, where we can keep track of our investments.

Gee thanks Prim i love you to >_>

It's an interesting idea.

Only problem i can see is that we may not have enough interest in it/not be able to find someone to do it.

I don't know about you, but some other people aren't all that trusting in others and to some people that is a fair amount of gold.

You would just have to see how many people would actually like to participate =)

I think the hardest part would be finding someone who wouldn't mind vending every month for free or a fraction of their real overall profit.
That's a lot of work for the person to not receive their own profits like they would if they were doing it normally just so other people can earn more money for doing practically nothing.
I sure wouldn't be that nice or want to waste that time. o:

I agree with Pain. XD
There would have to be some kind of incentive for the vendor. I can't see people wanting to vend for others out of the goodness of their hearts.

I came up with an idea.
A broker fee would be a good incentive for the person doing the trading.
How it works:
1. Lets say people invested 100,000
2. After a month the value of the pot increases to 250,000
3. That's a 150,000 gain
4. The trader gets a broker fee equal to a percentage of the sum. Say 10%.

Here's the math
100 shares @ G1,000 = G100,000
The G100,000 becomes worth 250,000. A gain of 150,000
The broker fee reduces the gain 150,000 to 135,000. The exchanger get the 15,000.
The G135,000 gain plus the G100,000 are returned to shareholders according to their investment
In this example for each share you own you would have made G1500 without a broker fee and G1350 with a broker fee. I think giving G150 to someone to make me that that much money is worth it and it encourages good investments.

This is a pretty awesome idea, but like Pain said, we'd have to find someone who likes vending to do it for free.
    I fail at vending
