I don't know about the A thing, but our band has about 50 or so people including the guard. not exactly the biggest, but we're not tiny either.

It really depends on the competition we're at.
At one competition we were in the 5A catagory.
At the second we were in the 3A catagory.
At the third we were in the 4A catagory.
At the last we were in the A catagory.
Our band has 96 musicians (percussion included) and 10 guard.

I think 1A and we had like 28 winds not sure about Color Guard or Percussion
