Title : A thousand Splendid Suns

Author : Khaled Hossein

Year : 2007

Setting/plot/blurb : A Thousand Splendid Suns is a breathtaking story set against the volatile events of Afghanistan’s last thirty years. It is a striking, heart-wrenching tale of unlikely friendship, and an indestructible love.

I loved the way the story was broken into parts - one for each woman, then united into a whole story. They had one thing in common. Harami. (Chile born out of wed-lock.) The entire way through the book, I felt blessed that I was born in a country where I wasn't punished for it. I found it shocking to realise that this book is set in modern times - right now.

Recommendation : I loved The Kite Runner - but I think this one is even better. I loved the characters and felt cried at several points in the book. 10/10.
