At some point, I'll make a topic filled with Jutsu so pep can check it out when they're in a fight. When, I don't know. I just finnished my last final now all I have to worry about is finnisheing a woodburn for the school, but it won't take long, so the new topic sould be up by the end of next week...I hope.

It takes a sertain # of posts to learn a new jutsu. And your character's rank desides what jutsu you can and can't learn. I may make a few exceptions, but you'll have to pm me about it. But that's a big 'may.'

Jutsu and ranks
Acadamy student - E and D rank
Genin - E, D, and one or two C ranks

Ninja Ranks

Academy Student --- The academy is where would-be ninja start; they are not actually considered ninja until they graduate. Academy students take formal and practical tests of all sorts and are taught the basics. Basic weapon usage, such as kunai and shuriken, is commonly taught. Elementary ninja techniques, though they vary from village to village, are also taught. These include the Transformation Technique, Rope Escape Technique, Body Replacement Technique, Clone Technique, Exploding Tag: Activate, Cloak of Invisibility Technique.

Genin --- (下忍, Genin; Literally meaning "Low Ninja", Meaning (Viz) "Junior Ninja") are the lowest level of ninja and also the ones that display the most difference in power. When they become Genin, ninja start to do their bit for their village's economy – being sent on missions that the village gets paid for. They are typically sent either on D-rank missions, which are the lowest rank and are almost entirely risk-free jobs of manual labor, or, very rarely, on C-rank missions, which are a cut above that and begin to verge on real "ninja" work – though they generally have a very low possibility of risk to the ninjas involved, especially since their Jonin level sensei often accompanies them. However, at one point, Konohagakure was shorthanded in upper-level ninja because of the attack by Otogakure and Sunagakure, and has been forced to occasionally send Genin on higher-ranked missions.

Chunin --- (中忍, Chûnin; Literally meaning "Middle Ninja", Meaning (Viz) "Journeyman Ninja") are ninja who are qualified to watch over and guide other ninja. Chunin have reached a level of maturity that primarily consists of leadership skills and tactical prowess. This is because the Genin who don't have the skills to become Chunin are weeded out in testing. Some of them, like Iruka Umino and Mizuki, function as teachers and others, like Shikamaru Nara, serve as team leaders in charge of small teams who need to make decisions and utilize the skills of the shinobi under their command to the maximum effect. Chunin are typically sent on C-rank missions or B-rank missions. Sometimes, although, in times of peace, leaders like Shikamaru may become teachers at the Ninja Academy, as seen in the filler arcs.

Tokubetsu "Special" Jonin --- (特別上忍, Tokubetsu Jōnin; Literally meaning "Special High Ninja"; sometimes known as Tokujō for short) are ninja who, rather than all-around Jonin training, have Jonin-level ability in a single area or skill, much like warrant officers of real-world militaries. They are elite specialists in their areas and are often assigned as subordinates to regular Jonin when their services are needed.

One example of a Tokubetsu Jonin would be Ibiki Morino. This character's unique ability to completely understand the workings of the human mind makes him a Jonin-level interrogation expert. Ebisu is another Tokubetsu Jonin that specializes as an elite teacher of young pre-Genin ninja. Other good examples include Anko Mitarashi, Hayate Gekko, and Genma Shiranui.

Jonin --- (上忍, Jōnin; Literally meaning "High Ninja", Meaning (Viz) "Elite Ninja") are generally highly-experienced ninja with great individual skill who serve as military captains. They are often sent on A-rank missions, and experienced Jonin may even be sent on S-rank missions (which are considered to be the greatest difficulty). They may also carry out these missions alone. They are sometimes assigned as sensei for three-person teams of Genin. It is as of yet unknown what one has to undergo to become one. It is mentioned in the Naruto Anime Profiles databook that Jonin are appointed, however there was mention of a Jonin exam in the Kurama filler arc. It is known that most Jonin are generally able to use at least two types of elemental jutsu i.e.water, fire, etc., some genjutsu, and above-average taijutsu skills.

Kage --- (影, Kage; Literally meaning "Shadow") is the leader of one of the five most powerful Hidden Villages and generally are also the most powerful ninja in their respective villages.

The Kage stand equally with the rulers of their countries, oversee the activities of their villages, and are the leaders of ninja society. They typically are the ones who send the ninja teams out on their missions and make the decisions regarding the safety of the village.

Ninja Jobs/positons
There are several classifications for ninja. Some, you must be at a sertain rank to acheave.
User Image

ANBU Must be at Jounin level to become Anbu
The ANBU (暗部, ANBU; Viz "Black Ops", English TV "ANBU Black Ops"; Literally meaning "Dark Side") is actually short for ANsatsu Senjutsu Tokushu BUtai (暗殺戦術特殊部隊, Ansatsu Senjutsu Tokushu Butai; Literally meaning "Special Assassination and Tactical Squad"). The name is a form of contraction, similar to English acronyms like SWAT, where the two kanji used to abbreviate the group's full name constitute an actual word on their own.

Hunter-ninMain Anbu only
Hunter-nin (追い忍, Oinin; English TV "Tracker Ninja") are a special team within Kirigakure's ANBU, given the specific duty of hunting down missing-nin. They kill their target, taking the head as proof, and then completely dispose of the body by using various methods, such as cremation or the summoning of wild carrion crows to devour the corpse. This is done in order to make sure the village secrets which a ninja's body holds — such as chakra types, herbs eaten, Ninjutsu, special medicine, and kekkei genkai — will not be revealed to outsiders.

Medical-nin Genin and up
Medical-Nin (医療忍, iryō-nin) are ninja who specialize in medical treatment and use of medical-oriented jutsu to heal others. Becoming a medic-nin requires high intelligence and excellent chakra control. A medic-nin is trained to avoid getting injured in any way, for the reason that if they are injured, then there would be nobody to heal the others. If they are forced into combat, they make use of their chakra control to enhance their taijutsu skills. Medic-nins accompany other ninja on high ranking missions to increase the survival rate of the squad.

Cooking-nin Genin and up
Cooking-Nin (ryouri ninja) are ninja who specialize in cooking. They walk around in forests and paths outside villages, waiting for hungry ninjas to walk past. When they find a hungry ninja team, they make all kinds of good food for them, but as Hakaku makes such good food, they can't stop eating it, and become very fat. They only work in the Land of Thunder. Being so fat, the ninjas started to say: "Who needs Cooking-nins". Hakaku wanted Teuchi's "Demon" recipe but it turned out to only be the disposal of the bitter taste of the soup

ANBU Black Ops and ANBU ROOTS
User Image

Black Ops
Uniform
The ANBU wear porcelain animal masks in order to distinguish themselves from normal shinobi and to conceal their identities. They also have standard uniforms consisting of black and gray armor, arm guards, and a signature spiral tattoo on their left shoulder (Female ANBU members have the tattoo located on their right shoulder to determine gender between the ANBU members). Certain ANBU wear black cloaks over their standard uniforms, and squad leaders may wear white cloaks.

Purpose
ANBU protect the village from exceptional threats, conduct high-risk missions into enemy countries, and deal with extremely strong ninja. They are also responsible for carrying out assassinations and missions requiring specially trained ninja. Unique for most characters in Naruto, all ANBU carry Ninjaken, which are usually strapped to their backs, and they all know the layout of the human body in detail. By using Temporary Paralysis Technique, ANBU members can paralyze an opponent, leaving them open for attack. With Time Reversal Technique, an ANBU can put someone in a state of reverse hypnosis, allowing them to remember details that they otherwise would not. They serve under the direct command of their Kage. ANBU are also sworn to leave nothing behind of their bodies if they die on a mission, as shown on episode 90 of shippuuden.

The specialized ANBU branch, Foundation or "Root" works under Danzo and includes Sai. They wear different colored capes from standard ANBU and are trained to lose all emotion. They are also not allowed to question Danzo's authority. In the Pain invasion arc they are stopped by Danzo from helping the villagers of Konoha.

Known ANBU members
Danzo (leader of Konoha's ANBU "Foundation")
Ibiki Morino (head of the Konoha's ANBU Torture and Interrogation Squad)
Itachi Uchiha (former Konoha ANBU captain at the age of 13)
Kakashi Hatake (former Konoha ANBU captain)
Raiga Kurosuki (formerly ANBU member for Kirigakure)
Sai (member of Konoha's ANBU "Root")
Yamato (undercover as a Jonin)
Yugao Uzuki (girlfriend of Hayate Gekko)
Zabuza Momochi (formerly assassination expert for Kirigakure)
Towa (Clash of Ninja Revolution 2)
Komachi (Clash of Ninja Revolution 2)
Otomatsu (Member of Konoha's ANBU under the codename Raido. Witnessed the battle between Orochimaru and Hiruzen Sarutobi, the 3rd Hokage, during the Invasion of Konoha. In the filler, he and his team interrogated Naruto about Genno.)

ANBU "Root"
Root (Ne) is an ANBU training department that was founded by Danzo. Unlike normal ANBU, they carry a tipless Tanto instead of a Katana. This is an extremely strict group, since Danzo trained the members to lose their emotions. Each member has a codename and never reveal their true name. Sai's actual name is unknown thus being Codename: Sai. They are later on sent on secret missions that are never revealed what they are.

Goals
Conqure Konoha and make Danzo Hokage- How they plan to do this is unknown. Tsunade doesn't trust Danzo, but the Elders do

Ninja Tools and Weapons

Animals
Users: Many characters.
Description: During the Chunin exam, it was confirmed that animals can be considered a ninja tool. This was brought into question immediately prior to Naruto's fight with Kiba Inuzuka.

A ninja's jutsu may often involve use of various animals; most notably among the Leaf ninja are the Aburame clan, who form a symbiotic relationship with a certain type of insect, and the Inuzuka clan, which favors the use of canines in battle. In this first style of animal usage, the relationship between ninja and animal extends beyond battle, as they will be in each others company for most of their lives. The ninja will develop a unique style to maximize coordination between himself and his animal partner(s).

Another form of animal usage, and far more common, comes from the Summoning Technique. An example of a Summoning Technique is that of Kakashi that calls eight nindogs including Pakkun. This method is a time/space jutsu, which calls an animal to the user during battle after drawing blood and using sufficient chakra.

Blood Clotting Pellets
Users Kabuto Yakushi, probably most experienced Medical Ninja
Medical Ninja have access to a different variety of Soldier Pill that accelerates coagulation appropriately called Blood Clotting Pills or Plasma Pills.

Chakra Knife
Users: Asuma Sarutobi, Shikamaru Nara
Description: The chakra knife is made of a special metal that draws the user's elemental chakra out to enhance the blade. This worked particularly well for Asuma, since his Wind element made its cutting power considerable higher. Shikamaru was also able to use the knife as a point from which he could manipulate shadows.

Demon Wind Shuriken
Users: Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto Uzumaki, Zabuza Momochi
Description: The Windmill Shuriken (風魔手裏剣, Fūma Shuriken) is roughly the same size as the large shuriken, but has a unique shape. The four blades that make up the Windmill Shuriken are curved along their inside edge, presumably to allow for better slicing power and faster flight than a straight-edge shuriken. It is so large that the weapon is designed to fold so that it would fit inside a large backpack, when folded it can also be used as a close range fighting tool. Windmill shurikens are probably more dangerous than large shuriken, but it takes more time to prepare such a weapon for use.

Explosive Tag
User Image
Users: Most ninja.
Description: Also known as "shiki" tags or paper bombs, explosive tags are not quite as common as standard throwing tools, but still see quite a bit of use. First introduced during the Chunin exam arc, when Oboro threw one attached to a kunai at Sasuke, they became almost commonplace after that. Explosive tags can be attached to almost anything via wire or adhesives (as one note was stuck to a squirrel's back), and detonate after a predetermined amount of time. They can be used in distractions, or even in deadly blows.

Flash Bombs
Users: Some ninja
Description: Flash bombs are small round spheres that are attached to a kunai knife, similarly to an explosive tag. Once thrown, flash bombs explode on impact, creating blinding flashes, used as a diversion. Shikamaru Nara uses these against Tayuya; using them to create shadows so he can use his Shadow Imitation Technique on Tayuya's Doki.

Kakran
User Image
Description: A curved blade held in the fist for close combat.

Katana
User Image
Users: Sasuke Uchiha, Zabuza Momochi, Kisame Hoshigaki, Raiga Kurosuki, Hanzaki Fuma, Suigetsu Hozuki, Hayate Gekko, Orochimaru, most Konoha ANBU members, Aoi Rokusho, some others.
Description: "Katana" is the general description of any bladed weapon longer than a dagger. They vary in size, shape, and even material. Katana, when used, often become the central focus of the ninja's jutsus, with the ninja developing techniques to maximize his sword's efficiency.
Traditional use: In tradition, a katana is a single-edged sword designed for open-field combat. The blunt end of the katana could be, technically, used as a bludgeon tool. The forging of a katana can take over half a day, and is still considered an art in today's society. Katanas are not made for precise cutting-related attacks, since it could damage the blade. Wakizashi, a name given to swords with a blade length in-between that of a katana and a dagger, complements the use of a katana. The wakizashi is used where the katana could not, including executions and seppuku, ritual suicide, as such precise actions can dull or snap the katana's blade.

Significant Katanas:
Giant Decapitating Carving Knife, Zabuza's giant zanbatō
Samehada, Kisame's massive weapon
Unnamed lightning-rod-like swords used by Raiga Kurosuki
Sword of The Thunder Spirit, a blade used by the Second Hokage
Kusanagi, a name used to refer to certain swords used by Orochimaru and Sasuke
Zanbatō, the sword used by Hanzaki Fuma
Kotetsu's Giant Mace Users: Kotetsu Hagane

Descripon: Kotetsu carries this weapon in a scroll to save space. It has a massive striking area, with a relatively short handle, but also a chain running from behind the head to the end of the handle which Kotetsu can use to hold on to.
During the first battle with Hidan and Kakuzu, at the near end, Kotetsu summoned a large mace and with the help of Izumo, Kotetsu tried to strike Kakuzu while he was distracted. He was only to fail at Kakuzu's stretching arms. Fortunately for the team, reinforcements arrived, but Asuma wasn't stopped from dying.

Kunai
User Image
Users: Most characters

Description: Kunai (痛くないクナイ) knives are weapons useful for melee or ranged combat. They mainly consist of a short, diamond-shaped blade, with a handle and a ring on the end. The ring is useful for grabbing the kunai, or attaching string to it. There are also different shapes of kunai, like Minato Namikaze's three-bladed kunai.
Normal Use: A Kunai Knife (痛くないクナイナイフ) is a black dagger about the length of (as a general unit) Naruto Uzumaki's hand. It was a common ninja tool (either used as a melee weapon or thrown) and most of the characters in the series frequently use it, with the exception of individuals such as Rock Lee or Kimimaro, although Lee did use one in his battle against Gaara.. Many ninja cleverly attack by attaching a paper bomb (a short length of paper that, when burnt, detonates) to the blade. The kunai is commonly thrown so that it lodges in an object near the target, and then the explosion from the paper bomb destroys it (the target). Kunai knives and shuriken are the two most common ninja tools in the world of Naruto.
Special Uses: After Kakashi Hatake's promotion to Jonin, Minato Namikaze gave him a special kunai with three blades. Minato Namikaze is also seen using kunai as a jutsu formula while using the Flying Thunder God Technique in the Third Great Shinobi War. They can also can also be attached to an Explosive Tag so that explosives can be thrown over a distance.
Traditional Uses: Kunai are often described as "leaf-shaped" tools. They are often wrought of iron, its only sharp section being the tip. A kunai is used for smashing and other chores that would destroy a steel-forged tool. Because of its gardening use, kunai can be used openly for gardening by a ninja without raising suspicion. Kunai are not made to be thrown, although they can inflict serious damage and are capable of being thrown.
Kunai can also be summoned by special scrolls.

Large Shuriken
User Image
Users: Mizuki, Iruka, Naruto, Sasuke
Description: They are basically giant Shurikan about the length of a persons arm.

Makibishi
User Image
Users: Kakashi Hatake, Sasame Fuma, Ino Yamanaka
Description: Makibishi (撒き菱), or caltrops, as they are also known, are small spiky objects that are used to hurt the feet of the enemy. Also known as "throwing nails", they can cover one's retreat, or be used to force an opponent into a certain tactical location. Their four-pronged design guaranteed that one sharp end would always be pointing at the sky, where a foot can step upon.
Traditional Use: Its use in tradition is similar, as most people of feudal Japan wore straw shoes rather than boots, which provide little protection against the makibishi. Makibishi could be poisoned, which may result in fatal injuries. Myth says that there were also explosive makibishi, makubishirai, where a makibishi would detonate when stepped upon.

Medical Kit
User Image
Users: Medics, Kabuto, Sakura, Shizune, Tsunade
Discription: Often used for surgery when not near a hospital or clinic.

Metal Threads
Users: Tenten, some others
Description: The metal threads are used to trap enemies. If enemies get tangled in the threads tightly, they can get sliced up. Probably what's a lot more effective is when Sasuke Uchiha wrapped up Orochimaru, he performed the Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique, causing the threads to light up on fire, burning Orochimaru.

Military Rations Pellets
Users: Kiba Inuzuka, Choji Akimichi, Kabuto Yakushi, some others.
Description: Military rations pellets were originally distributed to soldiers during the Great Ninja Wars. Soldier pills are very useful as they carried enough nutrients to carry the user for three days. They also boost the user's chakra, distributing it evenly to every part of the body, and in essence making it function like an animal's.

Puppets
Users: Kankuro, Chiyo, Sasori, Monzaemon Chikamatsu.
Description: All puppets are different. However, they all work on the same fundamental principle. The puppeteer is a master of Puppet Technique, and uses threads of chakra to manipulate the puppet's movements. A trend among puppeteers is to have hidden traps among their puppets, and to use poisons, smoke bombs, and other devices to incapacitate their enemy. Often, the controller of the puppet is a weak close-range fighter. The use of puppet-related jutsu is most often associated with the Hidden Sand.

Puppets (傀儡, Kugutsu) are used as weapons by puppeteers, like Kankuro, Sasori and Chiyo. The three puppets that Kankuro uses were all originally designed by Sasori, and came into Kankuro's possession some time after the former left Sunagakure. The three have a red scorpion mark on them. In Part I Kankuro carries his puppets with him, though in Part II he starts keeping them in summoning scrolls. Each of these puppets is characterized for the excessive clicking noises they make when moving.

Karasu(烏; "Crow")
User Image
is the first puppet to make an appearance in the series, being used by Kankuro. Karasu resembles a three-eyed, four-armed humanoid. In Part I, Kankuro typically keeps Karasu wrapped in bandages on his back, and he is able to switch places with it at will using a technique similar to the Body Replacement Technique. Because of Kankuro's enjoyment in installing mechanisms into his puppets, Karasu is very offensive, having numerous concealed weapons, including poison-tipped darts, kunai, blades and a huge poisoned needle concealed within its head. Karasu has also on occasion released smokescreens in order to blind its opponents. The smokescreens can be made up of poisonous gas to serve a secondary purpose. Karasu is also able to detach any of its body parts for separate attacks.

Kuroari (黒蟻; "Black Ant") - The second of Kankuro's puppets to make an appearance, Kuroari has a much longer head than Karasu and sports two red devil-like horns and six arms. Kankuro can use the same type of Body Replacement Technique on Kuroari that he does Karasu. While Kuroari does not contain as many hidden weapons as Karasu, each of its arm segments contain a hidden saw-blade which can be used to inflict large slicing wounds to opponents. It also seems capable of conducting surprise attacks, especially in a dessert area as seen in Kankuro's fight with Sasori, where the former attempted several times to ambush the latter by having Kuroari tunnel underneath the sand. Kuroari has also been shown to conceal a large number of poisoned needles within its frame. Kuroari's primary function is to trap opponents within itself while weapons enter the slots along its body to puncture the opponent. Interestingly, Kuroari seems capable of confining targets much larger than itself as seen in the 2nd Naruto movie, where it hauled an entire hulking armored soldier right into its chest cavity and the trapping mechanism seems to be able to stretch at a considerable distance, allowing the puupet to ensnare targets several feet above or in front of it, as seen when it captured Hiruko after tossing it high into the air. Like Karasu, Kuroari is able to detach any of its body parts for separate attacks.

Sanshouo (山椒魚, Sanshōuo; "Salamander") is the third of Kankuro's puppets to make an appearance. Unlike Kankuro's other puppets, Sanshouo stays true to its name and resembles a salamander. Its abilities are unseen in the manga, but in the anime, Sanshouo is shown to have incredible defensive power. It has a frill that swings up to defend against attacks from the front, and a hollow body Kankuro and up to two other people can take cover in to defend against attacks coming from other directions. It can also spit fire in video games.

Hiruko (ヒルコ) is one of Sasori's favorite puppet, which he adorned with the regular Akatsuki outfit and wore so often that others came to recognize him only while he was wearing it; in addition, he has a deeper and more gruff voice while wearing it. The reason for using this puppet so much was not just for its powerful offensive abilities, but also for its high defensive properties. Hiruko has a mechanical tail extending from the mouth of what appears to be a mask on his back, a recent addition to add extra defense to a weak point. The left arm is rigged with a projectile launcher capable of firing shrapnel, and the mouth serves as a similar projectile-firing device.

Third Kazekage was Sasori's favorite puppet due to the difficult time he had acquiring it. Sometime before the start of the series, the Third Kazekage was kidnapped and killed by Sasori. Sasori then turned him into a human puppet. The Third Kazekage's right arm was equipped with multiple poison dipped blades, where his left arm was equipped with a special summoning jutsu that summoned a mass amount of puppet arms. Some of these puppet arms expelled poison, while others shot out kunai with ropes tied to them to tie up opponents.

SasoriSasori (蠍, "Scorpion") Although Sasori is in at least his thirties, he maintains the appearance of a teenage boy. Sasori's unnaturally young appearance is a product of his design: most of his body is actually a puppet. In place of his stomach is a thick cable coiled around a pole, allowing Sasori to use it as a stinger and retract it as necessary. Attached to his back is a scroll holder, which Sasori uses to store his human puppets. Sasori also added a pair of arms to his back, each equipped with five large claws, as well as flamethrowers to each of his hands. Installed in his right chest is a mechanism that can spin numerous chakra strings, allowing Sasori to control hundreds of puppets at once and giving him a drastic advantage over all other puppeteers. Sasori's left chest holds the only part of him still human and thus capable of controlling chakra, a cylinder-shaped device containing his heart. Written on the cylinder is the kanji for "scorpion".

Ten Puppet Collection of Chikamatsu
Ten puppets made of the first puppet master, Monzaemon Chikamatsu. Used by Chiyo.

Others
Mizuki uses a simple puppet in his appearance in the anime fillers.
In addition to being a master puppeteer, Sasori's regular puppets are unique in that they are made from the still-living bodies of humans. These human puppets are more versatile than regular puppets because, in addition to having many dangerous devices installed within them as is common with regular puppets, they are also able to use chakra and perform jutsu. Any kekkei genkai abilities possessed by the converted human are also passed on to the puppet. Sasori claims to have a collection of 298 Human Puppets, 103 of which he actually displayed. His favorite human puppet is the Third Kazekage, which retained its unique Iron Sand ability mixed with Sasori's poison, making it particularly lethal, this puppet also possesses numerous amounts of hidden blades in its right arm stronger enough to destroy Hiruko's tail and multiple summoning talismans in its left arm capable of summoning thousands upon thousands of mechanical arms that bind and throttle the opponent, the arms are also configured with poison fog launchers and hidden ropes to constrict the opponent, in disparate situations the left arm falls off to reveal a hidden buzzsaw.

Sanshokugan
Users: Choji Akimichi and the rest of the Akimichi clan.
Description: The Sanshokugan are a trio of pellets, similar to military rations pellets, but noticeably larger. They boost the power and chakra of the user, but they also carry detrimental side-effects.

Horengan: The first of the three pellets, the horengan is called the "spinach pellet" and appropriately green in color. It boosts one's physical power for a short period, but also causes damage, similar to the way opening the chakra gates damages Rock Lee.

Karegan: This second pellet is the yellow "curry" pellet. It boosts one's chakra as well, and enabled Choji to use partial expansions on his body, as well as the Super Multi-Size Technique, in his fight with Jirobo. In return, it causes him even more pain than the Horengan, and he is paralyzed temporarily after he takes it.

Tongarashigan: The last of the three pellets, the red "chili pepper" pellet, carries strength that surpasses the other two entirely. It boosts Choji's strength to 100 times what it was before, and enables him to deliver a single mortal punch to Jirobo. Its side effects are so severe, however, that the user generally dies after taking it. If it were not for Tsunade's access to the Nara clan's medical records, Choji, too, would have died.

Scalple
User Image
Users: medical ninja
Discription: you cut people open with this.

Scrolls
Users: Tenten, Several ninjas
Description: Scrolls come in many varieties of uses. Normally, they are used as letters or messages to be sent out, but some scrolls are also suitable for combat. For example, summoning scrolls are activated by the user's blood and allow them to summon objects such as how Tenten uses her scrolls to summon weapons. A summoning contract with a line of creatures is also signed by blood on a scroll.

Senbon
Users: Haku, Kin Tsuchi, Sasuke Uchiha, Amegakure ninja, Genma Shiranui, Aoi Rokusho, Sakura Haruno, Shizune
Description: Senbon (千本) are acupuncture needles, made of either wood or metal. Haku uses them as both throwing and melee weapons. Kin uses them in conjunction with bells and strings to activate a genjustu. They strike a very precise target, but are often non-fatal. Senbon is most used by ninjas with medical knowledge.
Traditional use: Senbon are used in acupuncture - a Chinese medical procedure. The thought behind acupuncture is that pressing particular points on the body, pressure points, would adjust the inner elements of the body (not so different compared to the chakra circulatory and the Gentle Fist style), thus relieving ailments.

Shuriken
User ImageUser Image
Users: Most characters
Description: The normal shuriken (手裏剣) (also known, in colloquial speech, as "ninja stars") are sharpened, four-pronged metal stars, useful for throwing. Though small, they can be used to distract, or, if accurate enough, could be deadly. They have an open circle in the center, used for grabbing with a finger, to avoid cutting oneself, or thread. The circle is also a benefit in aerodynamics, for more accurate trajectories.
Traditional Use: The common misconception behind shuriken is that they were meant for assassination and killing; they are not, in tradition. They are often used by ninja as a way to distract opponents to gain the upper hand. Shuriken are easy to make and could be made out of the most common materials, including old coins, etc... The designs of a shuriken can vary, and are often unique to different ninja clans. Furthermore, the term "shuriken" also applies to a type of throwing weapon that did not have a star-shape. They were instead thick nail-like weapons, which were more deadly than the stars.
