This is so damned sad. 200 animals that should have been safe there were lost.
I can't even imagine this happening to my shelter - you do your very best for animals in unfortunate circumstances and you make a huge emotional investment.. to have such a tragedy happen would be overwhelming and crushing.
My heart goes out to all the animals, staff and volunteers of that shelter.

that's terrible. my heart goes out not only to the cats, but to the wonderful humans who were looking after them as well.

Wow, that's terrible. Much love to the workers dealing with this loss. We had a fire in our home a few years ago and we lost a lot, including animals, so I understand how terrible it feels to go through this during the holidays.
