Okay, so yesterday we were at the Naval Academy for a USSBA competition. It was pretty awesome- we performed kind of early, so we got to watch a lot of other bands, and we got 2nd place in our group, and the second highest score in the whole competition. So, we were all really happy and giddy and all that stuff! (Who wouldn't be?)
So, after we got back to the school, our director asked us all to go into the band room so she could talk to us. When we were all there, she read us a letter from another band director, basically saying that we were the "most rude and disrespectful band" that she had seen in her 6 years of teaching. So, all of us were confused. The e-mail gave some examples of what that person had seen "us" doing- laughing at other bands, PDA, and other things that I can't remember. All of that was said none of us could remember doing. Our band director seemed really sad and disappointed in us, and when she left the room, we were all speechless. So, we all got to go home in a horrible mood.
And now there's today. My friend's mom was a chaperone at the competition yesterday, and I just found out from my friend that her mom saw people doing the things mentioned in the e-mail- but they weren't with our band, they were sitting behind us.
I can't believe it. First, that our BD would even believe that we would do that. Second, that someone would even do that stuff, ESPECIALLY during another band's performance. And third- the person who sent the e-mail didn't even check to see if those people were with our group. So, our whole band got to feel like crap for no reason, even though we should have been happy. I don't even know if our director doesn't know that it wasn't us yet.
Sorry, this is mostly just venting. Has anything like this happened to anyone before? I'm only a freshman, so I don't know if anything like this has happened before.

We had our first competition last weekend (I'm a freshman too). Siegal, who is really freakin awesome and won grand champion, were sitting in front of us in the stands. They told our directors that we showed "Too much PDA", so we got unisex buses on the way back. We have a girl director and a guy director. The guy is the assistant, who's been here for two years, and the girl is the head one and new. Of course, they put Ms. Elder on the guy's bus. Also, just let me say that that much testosterone should never be pent up in one place like that. We were terrible for her, but that's a different story altogether. Needless to say, we were ticked.

I'm sorry. Has your director been told yet? I hate bands that can't clap for other bands. I cheer for our rivals all the time, just because they are band students just like me. If other band students can't be respectful, who will?

Yeah, so turns out it was kinda us...The guy overreacted maaajorly over a couple people talking, let's just leave it at that. We're all better now. =D
I'm from Gov. Thomas Johnson high school. =D I love our band, but I've heard that a lot of people are quitting next year because it's "not as fun anymore". :[

WickedSong I'm sorry. Has your director been told yet? I hate bands that can't clap for other bands. I cheer for our rivals all the time, just because they are band students just like me. If other band students can't be respectful, who will? Well I clap but we don't scream and hollar and act like maniacs after awards. Our band director wanted us to be badass like Paul Nye (one of our drill instructors) we dedicated awarm up exercise to his owl tattoo. It's pretty funny.

We went to Disneyland for our band. We wore our red band shirts. All of us. Another group of kids were there in red performing arts shirts, it was for some other school though. So we are a pretty well behaved band. We come back and the next day we have school our BD reads us an email from some random person from Disneyland telling him all things bad things about our band. The thing was, all the things that were mentioned, I saw the other group doing. So we got blamed for it just because the person saw our red shirts and just read off our school. It really ticked me off. Anyway, what kind of person randomly notices you at Disneyland "misbehaving", takes the time to find your school on the web, AND find your BD's email? I say a crazy one!

During the marching season, there was a couple of kids who got the entire band in trouble. One was a junior and the other a freshman. They were the most disrespectful, tactless, immature, stupid, idiotic, and asinine people in the whole band! They embarased and shamed the band countless times. Our band mom chaperones punished us all, because of their actions, they would throw pizza at people, say rude comments to opposing band members and their fans, they did very innapropriate things in public, on the bus and anywhere where they were together. The freshmam made the whole freshman class look bad, and we really werent. Every one wanted to kill them! It came to the point where the rules were changed because of two people, and the two people were sent to sit on different busses, and we all hoped on my bus that we'd get neither of them. We did though, the junior, she was quiet though....for some reason.
