Okay, not a translation, but I didn't want to make a seperate thread for a single character.

My dilemma is that I cannot find this darn character anywhere. The reading is 'mo,' and it's part of 'furimoku.' It has the 'tehen' radical (手) on the left and 宛 on the right. I'm probably having trouble because it may be an old, out-of-use kanji (the story it's in is from the early 1900s).

EDIT: I found a copy of the story online, and all it has where the kanji should be is 難漢字 (difficult kanji). gonk In that case, what's the proper (current) kanji to use?

Maybe I found it: http://jisho.org/kanji/details/捥

11 strokes

Not one of the 2500 most used kanji in newspapers
Radical: 手
Readings
Japanese kun: うで、 もぎ.る、 も.ぐ
Japanese on: ウチ、 ウツ、 ワン

English meanings

be broken;
come off;
to bend the wrist;

http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi-bin/wwwjdic.cgi?1X
【もぐ】 (v5g) to pluck (usually from a tree); to pick (e.g., apples)

I dunno, the readings are a little different.

If anyone feels brave enough to help, I've got a translation project going on of a full on novel from 1993. By the title of Paprika (パプリカ).
www.paprikatranslation.blogspot.com

If you can help, message me!

Further, if you can help, try this one out:
食欲がないため肥らずにすみ、
毎日のようにテレビ局から出演依頼のくる美しさが損なわれることがないのはさいわいと言えたが、
あいにく治療に利用する以外は自分の美しさにも、テレビ局にも彼女は関心がない。

[Shokuyoku ga nai tame futorazu ni sumi,
mainichi no you ni terebi-kyoku kara shutsuen-irai no kuru utsukushi-sa ga sokonawareru koto ga nai no wa saiwai to ieta ga,
ainiku chiryou ni riyou suru igai wa jibun no utsukushisa ni mo, terebi kyoku ni mo kanojo wa kanshin ga nai.]

If you noticed, I broke the sentence down into the three parts that comprise it.

The farthest I've gotten is something like: She finished with starving herself in order not to gain weight, it could be said that she was unhappy about being so beautiful so as to receive daily requests to appear on TV shows...
