I'm doing a petition in my school district. It's on having a World class in Japanese. I was wondering if that's a good idea or not.
The reason why is because I want to share Japanese with everyone and because it's just plain awesome.
Any feedback?

its a great idea!
i wish i could have japanese classes at MY school.........oh well....
go teach some people japnese and make us proud! biggrin

It IS a good idea and I will tell you why. (Be sure you have valid reasons for your petition so the Board of Education can see that you are very serious about having Japanese available to students).
Having Japanese taught within the school district can:
1) Give students and alternative to the common 3 western languages of Spanish, French and German. Our world is GLOBAL. Focus is now on the Middle East and Asia ESPECIALLY for business. Studying the language at an early age gives students the edge if they go on into business, international relations and cross-cultural understanding situations.
2) Learning Japanese also ushers in the learning of Japanese culture
3) An established Japanese program within the school district can get the attention of the closest Japanese Consulate and be linked to them for resources and special speakers
4) It welcomes community support from Japanese groups such as Karate, Bonsai groups, Japanese restaurants, English as a Second language groups, local Asian grocery stores and etc.
5) The opportunity for classroom exchange is possible as Japanese students do and are looking for classrooms around the world to communicate with and enjoy

I think you should, it would be a great idea. Learning languages is so useful once your out of school and even while your in school. Its extra good on college apps. ^_^ I say you do it. 3nodding
