Yaoi Paddles.
We all know of them and love them. Perhaps some of us even own them. Most commonly, they are purchased at anime conventions. They used to be commonplace, they used to be a favorite accessory, they used to be involved in all manner of naughty nonsense at anime cons.
And suddenly, they're banned. Probably because a few jackasses went overboard and people complained that they couldn't sit for weeks.
Basically, this has screwed me over to the nth degree. I've never even touched a paddle before in my memory (unless you count Livie whooping me at Otakon 07, can't remember if I actually touched/held it of my own accord). I think I've wanted one ever since I got into anime cons (and yaoi). And now, blammo, you can't have them, which means the likelihood that you can get 'em in the dealer room is, like, zip. Not fair. And I doubt that a minor could purchase a yaoi paddle, which means that even after I turn eighteen next year, I wouldn't be able to get hold of one easily, and even if I did, when could I flaunt it without fear of a con staffer confiscating it?

I have always wanted a Yaoi paddle ever since I saw a picture of one on junemanga.com I wish I could get one too but sadly like you said you cant find one at a convention anymore. That basically sucks majory. Here is a huggle to make you feel all better. Huggles Huggles.

They banned them at my local con, too sad I always wanted one, but they're a real rarity these days ;_;
Stupid anti-yaoi con people ruining our fun! It's so mean of them! Can't we just have our fricken paddles!?

It sucked to no end that Otakon banned people from carrying yaoi paddles this year. There was a considerable lack of Riku cosplayers spanking Sora cosplayers (and a forced change-of-plans for my cosplay next year) as a result. I hope Otakorp is proud of themselves. *Pout*
I did note, however, that there were paddles for sale in the Dealer's Room (I saw them at the Hen Da Ne booth - they were in boxes behind the counter and yes, I did ask if they were allowed to sell them). The only problem was that you had to take any paddle you bought directly from there to your car or hotel room. Uber suckage, but at least they were still available.

Ohhhhh so you're allowed to buy them, you just can't have 'em around? That's inconvenient as hell. >> But I do see a glimmer of hope on my little horizon if I can convince the people at college that it's not a viable kill-people weapon. Just a make-people's-bums-hurt weapon. Mwahaha.

I have only seen a yaoi paddle in a yaoi guild on gaia. I am tempted to hunt one down though, they seem like they could end up being lots of fun 3nodding

I bought my YAOI paddle at the A-fest dealer room in August in YAOI LAND. The rule for us is that you can hold it, wield it, but you can't actually hit people with it. I know some places that if you buy one, you have to treat it like a blade and take it immediately to your hotel room/car after buying it, but they're still sold. If you hit people with it, the con people won't be happy. ^^; Luckily when I spanked Mello (lightly) in my Matt cosplay, the security person who saw it was really nice and calmly explained the rules like a nice person rather than an a*****e.
