It's a shojo manga about a high school girl who goes to a school that's divided into 2 schools; a regular school and a music school. One day, she gets a magic violin from a Fata (music fairy), and it asks her to participate in the upcoming music competition.
In a nutshell, she comes to love music and playing the violin, meeting other players of music in her journey. It's kinda interesting actually, until I saw this manga, I'd never seen another one like it.
DISCUSS! -Magic violins -Any other mangas like it? -Musical mangas xD -....anything else you can think of that relates

La Corda was amazing! In the anime I was just playing along with Kaho, Len and Tsuchiura every now and then because I knew a load of the pieces XDD. Obviously I can't air-play in the manga but... that's not the only reason why I like this manga! XD It's cutee, it became one of my favourites as soon as I picked it up. I either have a weakness for a harem of bishonen guys or musical anime/mangas... or both!
Magic Violins Lol, what a random thing to discuss. Wish I had a magical violin, then my teacher wouldn't nag at me so much because I'd already be great at it ohohoho! Guess I'll have to learn the old fashion way... sight read it in lessons until I get it right >D *whacks self* I mean practising an hour every day *cough* >_>;
Any other mangas like it? Nodame Cantibile and Neo Angelique Abyss [actually I'm not sure if that has a manga or not... need to double check]. Both are fantastic, I recommend them!
Musical Mangas Nodame Cantibile, Full Moon o Sagashite [YES YES YES GO READ THIS!!! *is biased*], One, Nana, Yonen Buzz and there are probably more that I know off. My brain just isn't working properly today ^^; But still, the world needs more classical music related mangas and animes!!
Anything else I wish I could play trumpet, then I could play along with happy hyper Hihara! 8D Favourite characters are Hihara and Leeeen <333 I need to get the other volumes, neeeed caaaaash soooon...

OMG, SUM1 FINALY RESPONDED AFTER 3 MUNTHS!!!12131!!!!
Anyway xD Glad to see that someone else likes it. As for your musical manga recommendations, I'm already reading Nana, and it doesn't seem so much about music (since they hardly ever whip out instruments/talk about music/things like that, like they do in La Cordo), but about the biz and things that go on in it. I've heard of Full Moon o Sagashite, but no idea what it's about . And I've never heard of the others.
As for your "Anything Else" comment, I respond with I'd probably go with Kazuki too xD I wonder if guitar and trumpet make a good duo when played together...

LOL, I've been very inactive from this guild for months so I've only seen this thread 8D;;
Nana isn't really supposed to be a music manga but more of a regular shojo. I just included it because Nana O is in a band and sings every now and then XD. Full Moon is fantastic! It's all about Mitsuki having a throat tumour and she's going to die in a year so shinigamis coming and fulfill her wish of becoming a singer with the alias of Full Moon. She gets into the music business and all that jazz, I love it personally but that's just me being biased since I'm a huge Arina Tanemura fan XD
People usually compare Nodame Cantabile and La Corda together because they're both about music 24/7! The artwork isn't as good as La Corda but it has a fantastic storyline ^_^. I haven't finished it yet but I like what I've seen!
Lol, guitar and trumpet would be interesting. You can probably pair any old instrument together and you could probably make it work X3

I wonder when the La Corda anime will be licensed, if ever...
Anyway, guitar and trumpet would be interesting, but I disagree about the "pairing any old instrument together". There are some instruments that just don't work together

I hope it does get liscenced, I know it's finally been taken down from CrunchyRoll by KOEI but I don't think they'll be releasing it in the Western world to be honest =/
Haha, well most instruments would work well together I think. I didn't think a trumpet and violin would go well together but they did in La Corda xD [I know it's fiction but it's still music xP]

Well, apparently, Keiichi wanted to do a trio because he wanted to play with Ryotaro in vol. 9. He was picking out pieces of music and he says:
Quote: "Cello and clarinet...Brahms' Clarinet Trio, Beethoven's Gassenhauer, Bruch, Glinka...they all have piano parts. It'd be fun to do a trio with Ryotaro..."

Aw, sadl I'm not as far as Vol 9. Since the anime I've been very -slowly- collecting the manga. I'm only on Vol 6 ^^; Need more cash for the rest though T^T [Or I ask for it for Xmas haha]

Guess I shouldn't spoil too much else for you, though I guess technically, you already know about it xD
The only thing I don't like about the series is the wild hair colors...or some of them anyway. Like, on the covers of some of the volumes, some characters will have this color hair, and it'll change from volum to volume...if that makes sense
Anyway, another way I'll say it is this: I've always pictured Kazuki with red hair, but I tried to watch an episode of the anime and apparently he's been donned with green! I was like "WTF?! He has snot colored hair!" The only one I can see having the hair color in the series was Azuma with that purple hair...or whatever it was.

I didn't think the anime drifted too far away from the manga did it? At the moment it feels like it's pretty much repeated only with a bit of humour in the bonus [which I adore, especially backstage with the boys. Hilaaarious~~]
Haha, I think I'm pretty used to the hair colours, I think they were a bit -too- emphasised in the anime though. WAY brighter than in the manga illustrations, Len's hair is illuminous LOL I can't remember Kazuki very well, it's been a while since I saw it =/
I've never pictured Kazuki with red hair... he appears a lot in the front covers of the manga with green hair anyway [nice shade, not in your face bright green] so I'm too used to him with green hair to make a comment on it ^^;

I dunno, I've only tried to watch 1 episode. I never really got that interested in watching it, or I didn't have time...I don't remember which >>
The manga illustrations are...well, I dunno. I guess I never really noticed the illustrations because y'know how most manga illustrations change the hair and/or eye color of a character? Well I SWEAR TO GOD I'VE SEEN A RED HAIRED KAZUKI SOMEWHERE D:< I thought it was on one of the volumes, but I thought wrong
And I hate anime Shoko's hair. I'm looking at a picture of the cast right now, and it looks...odd. Almost like Sailor Neptune/Michiru from Sailor Moon, but darker. And the anime Lili on this pic is making me think of Navi from The Legend of Zelda. I want to kill it o_O
