You would think so, but it seems they don't. I don't mind a group of people who share a passion for something either (like you stated). But what do you do when a group of elitists get together?

Once, I was surfing either the A/M/C or a random forum on the internet (I can't remember which at the moment) and I came across a certain thread in which one elitist posted their opinion about a certain, older anime. I read through it, but didn't post because I didn't think much of it. I did read through other posts and more and more elitists just kept coming, with the occasional fangirl/fanboy that couldn't spell. It was truly a sight to see.

Ugh, I can't even begin to imagine it (x___X) Elitists are so far up their own arses, it's actually rather amusing. Fangirls/boys are a bit silly and most of them know what they're doing is just a bit of fun. Elitists, on the other hand, genuinely belive in everything they say and can't be reasoned with at all. They make themselves look so stupid, yet act as though they have authority over other people's beliefs (o__O?)

is borrowing anime from friends bad or good?

is renting anime really helpful to the industry?

is borrowing anime from library really helpful to the industry?

Lending anime to a friend is legal. Lending anime to thousands of "friends" over the Internet is completely different. But there are laws against airing anime in public spaces, so there's a limit on how many friends you can "lend" to at once.

This is how renting works: Companies who rent DVD's pay the anime companies in order to rent them. Or, the anime company receives royalites from the profit made on rental sales. So thats how renting helps the anime industry.

I can't tell you how the anime industry makes money from libraries, because I'm afraid I don't know (^^;; ) Libraries are state run, so perhaps they pay the companies, or the companies receive royalites? You'll have to research that yourself.
