Do you have to be good at tuning to play a timpani? I'm playing it for the first time in our fall show and I'm a little nervous.
well first time i played timpani i only had Eb and Bb and had like 32 measures of rest at a tempo of 56 before i played a Bb roll for a whole measure then hit Eb once and waited 2 more measures to play. But for pit this year i got assigned to timpani and played a High F Eb and Bb but got switched to marimba so i would say you don't have to tune well just tune up before the song
