L obviously, so i didn't bother clicking that button. matt is my favorite after L. Then Mello, then Matsuda, then Near.
*gasps* MATSUDA HAS NO VOTES?!?!?! :O

Respectively it seems L does get plenty of attention here.
That being said, yes my favorite character is L. Why?
Reason #1: When he died, I seriously thought about not watching the rest of the show. (You know you really like someone when that happens.)
Reason #2: He is the center of the show. Sure Kira is cool and Misa is hot, but without L it would just be another tag and bag anime flick. Even when they replaced him with Mello and Near, it was only the fact that they struggled to equate him that left some remnant of his character's significance; enough to sustain watching the rest of the series to its end. And even with 2 characters trying to match him, it was nowhere near as awesome as the original.
Reason #3: L's personality. His blithe, sugar-munching, seemingly whimsical way of problem solving, is actually backed by intense logic and multi-layered assesments. He thinks outside the box, which is nice. But he also doesn't forget what's in the box. This particularly shines in his ongoing investigation into Light/Kira.
Second, I would have to say Ryuk. He helped define Kira's character, possibly giving it the only thing that was actually interesting about him, and he was just as cool as a Shinigami can possibly get.

AWW SH*t I FORGOT ABOUT MATSUDA!!!!!! HE WAS MY VERY FIRST FAVORITE!!!!!!! i was soo sad because when i first started watching death note i thought matsuda was an FBI agent (im stupid X3) and i thought he died!!!!!(i didnt know his name X3) but i found out he lived!!!! i was sooo happy!!!!!!!! HE IS LIKE MY ALL TIME FAVORITE HE IS AT A NECK AND NECK TIE WITH L!!!!XD

ah, but anyways, i love him so. ^_< so ADORABLE. Near and L are really close for me though...here's ma sexeh list. XD
