McCain's age doesn't bother me at all. I think that he looks like a nice guy just as a person. However, I am kind of wary about having another republican term and possibly continuing the war. He is making an effort to make sure that people know that he is different from Bush, but I am still apprehensive. It is hard to know what a person will do when presented with power over the United States. sad

Well it's over, and Obama won the nomination.

I saw it coming to but I was hoping that something would happen to change it. I'm giving considerable thought to not voting, even though this is the first election I am eligible to vote. I used to be so excited about politics and now I can't muster any enthusiasm for the two remaining contenders. I really just don't want to vote anymore.

I voted for Kerry in the last election. I am kind of surprised that Bush still got elected after his first term. I guess that he had everyone scared about "weapons of mass destruction." Speaking of which, has anyone read that book put out by the former press secretary? It completely exposes Bush. Atleast that is what I heard.

Aww DD! Don't give up your vote! I can completely understand how you're feeling though, I've felt that way for the last couple of elections, although I did vote for Kerry and felt like it was a good choice. But you shouldn't give up your vote. Your an intelligent person who, I'm sure, can make an educated decision despite the fact that your nominee of choice didn't win. Every vote counts.
I haven't read the book that you're talking about Chibi. I bet it's interesting though. Do you remember the title? I'm going to the library this weekend, maybe I'll see if I can find it. I was just thinking about how history will portray Bush and everything that has gone on.
I had a bit of a panic attack a couple of days ago, thinking about what it's going to be like with a fresh president in the white house. God, I just hope whoever wins will be up to the task and make some effective changes. I'm a bit terrified by the thought of things staying the same for another presidential term.

Thanks Chibi! I'll see if I can get my hands on it this weekend. I'm still trying to finish Atlas Shrugged, but I've got a stack that needs to be returned anyway. I remember when he retired his position, I thought that it was the first cry against the Bush administration, although it was spun in all sorts of different ways by different people.

Speaking of libraries... I went to return some books/dvd my partner got out today (i got there just in time, 'cos they were closing soon) and I went to check out some books.... my library card is way "expired" and I can't renew it without something that has my name and address on it. like mail. but apparently not any mail with a "window" in it. So none of my bills would work. arg. They set them aside and hopefully I can use my paycheck after I pick it up. But I was sooooo bummed!!! I want to read the next Sandman!
In terms of politics.... I hope Obama can muster the support he needs and show that he can back up his nice speeches. I'd love for him to rock at being president, because I cannot in good conscience support McCain. He spent the weekend visiting red states and emphasizing his patriotism since some people have called it into question. He's visiting Iraq soon and will make sure his plans for troop withdrawal within 16mos will work. But he needs to stop supporting corn-based ethanol and look at other alternative fuels. (corn-based ethanol costs as much in fossil fuels to make as it produces when burned. and it drives up the cost of food.) And Bush was at a new citizenship ceremony this weekend and made a speech... and there were tons of protesters there screeching for impeachment. Haha to Bush. I feel a bit sorry for the new citizens, but as Bush quipped in his defense/apology "In America we believe in the right to free speech."
(I was at my parents, so I saw the news yesterday hehhhh ^^;; )

I have heard some people say that the US is going to hell in a handbag, and I tend to agree with them. It is crazy to think that many Americans believe that being patriotic means that we have to be involved in foreign wars! xp Has anyone heard about the possibility of Israel bombing Iran if their nuclear development grows too much. Of course Iran would retaliate against Israel, but then they would probably retaliate against the US because we are such good buddies with Israel. Maybe the world is going to end in 2012 with WWIII...
