So they dragged me into winterguard after eleven practices had passed since they needed another person. They kept losing people from the same spot! I'm on rifle, and I need to pick it up REALLY FAST. [I was a flag for one season, thus concluding the extent of my knowledge] So if anyone has any tips on how I can pick this up or what not to doto do or anything PLEASE it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

remember to squeeze your hand while doing palm spins. be careful about just hucking it when you are doing tosses... never ends good.... mostly all i can say really is practice practice practice! As long as you stay calm and breathe you will do just fine.

I love rifle!
When you do tosses, try to keep them tight and in front of your face (unless you're doing more than a triple of course). You can keep it tight by turning over your wrist faster.

Umm... If you have gloves, be sure to wear them as often as possible. When tossing, don't double dip, and release with your hand exactly vertical to keep it from spinning all nuts.

Keep your body lifted when doing spins, be careful not to lean or let your arm go out to the side. Breath out when you toss and count the spins in the air.
Relax and have confidence in yourself 3nodding

Ummm same here this is my first year though and I keep almost hitting myself when we we hold the tip and swing it in front and behind us and then toss it any tips?!?

hehehe, this might sound silly,but if theres a toss your afraid of learing/doing...try starting with somthing else,like a tennis ball,or somthing rifre shaped,lol works great for learning to spin under 4 & 5's.

i_love_band_members Ummm same here this is my first year though and I keep almost hitting myself when we we hold the tip and swing it in front and behind us and then toss it any tips?!? This might be scary at first, but if you stand near a wall while you're swinging your rifle you will eventually learn how to isolate your wrist and stay in the right planes so you don't hit yourself or the wall.

when tossing your rifel try to remeber this "where your pinky finger goes your rifel while go"(or any thing that u r tossing)

um.. make sure that under your tosses you dont move or any thing cause thatll break your concentration trust me i know and if you do it hurts. and just concentrate and belive that hyou could do it without what i like to call people spazz. so there you go, good luck.
