Haha, this is a sign of true bravery! How did it go down at school?
This kinda reminds me of "Book Day" at my Middle School. We were all invited to dress up as book characters for the day so, naturally, I went in as Zelda XD

To answer your q, there was a few people that didn't understand what I was dressed as and called me "farmer tom". Idjits. Aside from that, I earned the nickname "Mario" for the next several years.

I once cosplayed as quailman at an animecon to troll weaboos... some didnt get it and some got annoyed... THIS is truly epic

Hmmm... not exactly the best intentions, but it's not uncommon to see American based characters running around at an anime show, the people who'd complain need to relax and just enjoy the con.

I've seen Men in Black, Spiderman, Dr. Who, Batman, Ash from Army of Darkness and an entire squad of Ghostbusters with authentic looking jumpsuits and proton packs. Kudos for going with an obscure character as well, I loved non-disney Doug, even if he was incredibly gullible for a 6th/7th grader.
