I don't know if this is just me, but I always start out band camp, wishing I'd just quit. I mean, my band director has us work through heat waves if we don't get it right in the morning! So, carrying the bass(soon to be snare! blaugh ) through heat and then having to play, yeah, I'm extremely worn out. And I can only imagine the tubas and squints. . .
But all that is torture yes, but theres always the turning point. The point that I LOVE being in band. And don't get me wrong, I do love band through the pain, but until that point, I'm wondering if I require a catscan instead of new sticks. But the point for me, would have to be the band pool party! Every year, our band goes to the publi pool and just hangs out. There, without any worry about having to leap up and march again, wecan hang out and see our friends, and then band just seems SO MUCH EASIER.

So I'm asking, what's your turning point?

When I first realized how much a truly loved band was after out first indoor percussion show. We'd practiced the show of months and the work was getting so repetaive that I thought I could die from hearing the same music over and over again. The song was stuck in my head for the whole week before the show, and I found myself playing the song on my binder without even realizing it. gonk But on the night of the show, when everyone was quiet, and we just started, I felt so peaceful. I knew what I was doing and I knew that we were going to nail it. I played my heart out, and when we were done we recieved a standing ovation that made me beam. razz That's when I realized the joy that I found in music and realized that all the hard work was worth it. I LOVE BAND!!! heart

it's not really a turning point, but it was kind of the moment that i realised how much i loved everyone in my section (pit).
after our last competition, we always do a "senior circle", which is a thing that all of the freshies, sophomores, and juniors circle the seniors and play our show. me, being one of the freshies, was playing. it was an utter disaster. one HUGE tear. >.< but i saw that the seniors were crying, and one look at them made me start to sob. REALLY hard. (i couldn't stop until half an hour later)

I remember that! It was a disaster...

The Idiot started to dut... He was wrong, as usual...

My turning point was during the first competition, or was it the football game, in the drum solo, I was in front. I hear the crowd scream and I felt proud.

For me it's the performances. whether it's the first or last or any one in between. the performances make it worth while (i'm in cg btw)

My turning point is always at the first football game. I know a lot of people say they hate football games and such, but it is technically our first performance, and it really makes it feel worth it to be working as hard as we do in the beginning. Even if no one cares at football games.

But the time when it really feels amazing is when you go to your first competition. I remember, we got first in all thre catagories at our first show. That was the most incredibly feeling.

I hate marching season with a passion!! I don't like being outside and wind and sun take on very new meanings when you are throwing six foot poles in the air. Yet I always find at the competitions no matter how tired I am, no matter how I hot I enjoy myself even though half the time I can't breath after we perform.

Also I love winterguard and hardly ever want to quit then.

Mine wasnt really a turning point it was just a relization.
So Its my first year in marching band and im in pit, so we get a pit teck who is extreamly mean. She would yell at us for the slightest things, and I hated it. I got yelled at soo much. So I wasnt feeling good at the end of the first week so I stayed home one of the days and while I was home I relized that I really liked it, that I really missed all the people in my section and I missed being in the band. So yeah, I think it was that because after that I really like being in band more.

Inconclusive decision

Our drums are like carrying sinder block. I play third bass and I'm a freshman. I found my first year of high school drumline VERY hard. I was the only girl, and I was the shortest. Band camp was the worst!! When you are a freshman, the section makes you go a sing in front of the whole band. We go to Jackson's Mill were there are barely any trees. The drumline wakes up at 4 am and goes to bed at 11 pm. But after the first few field shows I started having fun. I cannot imagin my liffe without drumline. It's hard but fun. If you think about quitting, DON"T. Just keep at it and you will get through it. If anyone needs help or just wants to talk, my eyes are open.

You have no life, if you are in band...

ADMIT IT! It's true!!!

It is true!!!! I'll be the first in my whole area to admit it!!! When you step into the bandroom, you are officially lifeless without band. . .TT.TT Sad but true. . .
