as I changed from trumpet to barittone sorry for spelling I had to change month pieces as the stuff my school's it's pretty well dentied and chiped. the month pieces dentes easly and when I end up washing it ans when I have to cary it back and worth from school it hits something. dentes a little. well it hit a chair. and it dentied a bit on the stem part. it fits still and plays but should I warp it better or get a small case for it? because there are two baritone one at my house that in a case. one at school with out a case. I use a cloth bag. and the month piece is covered in two layers of paper towels and rubber baned to make sure it does not come out.

I have a school mouthpiece that's plenty dented, and it still plays. If it seems to get dented at the smallest things, you might want to take it to a music store and get it checked out. If it turns out its made of cheap or soft metal or somethin, I'd go with either a case or a new mouthpiece, if possible.

my school has mouth peices and they suck but being that i only play one bass so far, lets see if i can help.

You should look at Kellymouthpeices.com! or something like that. they have good mouth peices for low prices and i do recommend getting a small but hard case for ur mouth peice. well, if ur serise about band any way. if ur not it doesn't really matter.

I play trumpet, little freach horn (not that great like middle school level there), flute (going to collage cause of that) 3nodding , alto sax (got a few jobs cause of that), and clarnet! also paino and guitar i'm working on.

point is i pown u all! mrgreen

If in the market for mouthpieces, look for Vincent Bach mouthpieces. they are the best. I can't tell you the size because 1. I don't play Baritone, 2. You might have a Euphonium, and 3. I don't know the bore size. If you need to travel with a cloth bag for a case and are worried about damaging your mouthpiece, you may want to consider getting a plastic mouthpiece, leaving your metal one at school. Great for practicing , and dosen't freeze as easily as metal.

when it comes down to it, it depends on the tone you get with the mouth piece. it you like the tone you get, get an actual mouthpiece case, if you don't like your tone, consider going to look at mouthpieces. school mouthpieces are often old and dented anyway, and if you're carrying it from one place to another, maybe you should look into getting a mouthpiece of your own.
