All the cats I have had have been rescue cats
My first two cats were brothers who had been abandoned in a box on one of the roads near a barn who took them and gave them away.
Our third cat wasn't exactly rescued
Our naighbors bought his brothers and he was the only one left so they brought him back home with them and gave him to us

We currently don't really have rescue cats. We got Boo and Baby from a farm, Boo had two kittens (Will and Lulu), Boo died, Will wasn't spayed because she broke her leg and got the cast off the same day that the other kitties were getting spayed so she had two kittens (Jack and Fluffy, Fluffy was later eaten by a fox), and before my parents could spay her she had a litter of seven, which is where we got Clark and Natty from. then Will died. So all of our kitties have pretty much been born on my parents' farm. When I can have cats I'm going to adopt, though I wouldn't mind a Maine Coon someday...

SOmetimes it seems like people talking about toys... Like brand new super expencive toy or a home made sucky toy. Cats are living things, they act how ever you influence them to act, and a rescue cat can easily be a purebred who got into the hands of a wrong person....

Both my cat and dog were taken from the street. My cat was just a kitten, the dog was a bit older and abandoned.

All cats are beautiful, some breeds in special. But it wouldn't feel right for me to buy one when I see so many on the street.

My family and friends call me a kitty magnet. If there is a cat within 5 miles that needs help then it will find me.

Out of all of the cats I've own so far one was given to me as a gift (non purebreed) and the rest were all strays or ferals. I tend to find ferals, get them used to me, get them fixed, and then get the ones who are able to into tolerate humans off the streets and into homes. Currently I have fixed about 19 of them at the local gas station but I only think about 3 of them will eventually handle being with a human

I prefer rescue cats, from the facts that both my cats came to me from a humane society, one of best friends' cats too, and my second cousin does feline rescue. I love the looks of some purebred cats, but I prefer a lazy, odd little wonder someone else didn't want.

All the cats I have ever owned were rescue cats. And they are the most loving and thankful pets you could ever have. I do sometimes want a pure breed but I couldn't let a poor homeless kitty stay without a home.

unless I need a cat that needs to be able to cope with a certain living environment I go with rescue kitty.
certain living environment would be something like-get well with other cats or ppl/kids
be ok in intense cold/heat
be ok if i'm gone alot of the day
stuff like that

Personally, while there are some breeds I would love to own (I would looove a Sphynx, a LaPerm and a Savannah) I don't think I could ever bring myself to adopt a purebred cat while there are still strays and shelter cats out there that need homes. Nothing against purebred cats, but I feel guilty every time I leave the Humane Society and don't take a cat home, so I'm sure I'd be wracked with guilt forevar if I got a cat that wasn't a rescue cat.

Maybe some day, when I have the space and money to fulfill my dreams of being a crazy cat lady and I can adopt every cat I want.

I totally agree with you, yet I'm already well on my to being a crazy cat lady. I already have 4 cats in my tiny little 500 sq ft apartment. Thats 1 cat per 125sq ft!

I think both rescued and perbreed cats have there good and there bad points. Such as if you get a rescued cat you’re not always guaranteed it will be sweet and cuddly even more so if you get an older cat whose personality has already formed. I know that from experience so exspesily if you have small children its better to get a pure bread cat as a tiny kitten that way you can raise them as you want and also you can chose the breed based on what typical charasicts they have. At the same time some of the sweetest funniest cats iv had have been rescue cats and I do think that all those cats deserve a good home and lots and lots of catnip lol. So it really depends on your personal wants and needs for said cat. it makes no sense to go and get a 2 year old rescued cat and then have to bring it back because it wont stop scratching your kids as to which you should chose and I personally love them all purebreds and rescue cat alike ^^

(note this mostly stems from the fact that purebred cats are getting a bum rap I mean where do you think they end up if they don’t get sold, wail I truly believe in rescuing cats I still feel we must relies purebred cats need a good loving home to)

I've only had 1 purebred cat and she was a freebie.
My first cat I got as a birthday present when I was 6. His name was Carslile and we got him from the shelter when he was about 8 weeks old.
The 2nd cat my family got my mom picked out of a box of kittens at someone's house. She was the runt of a little of Maine Coons. (sp?)
The next cat my mom got was a random barn cat (well, kitten). When she was about a year old she escaped out of the house and got preggers by some random cat that was probably feral.
She had 4 babies but one came out naked and dead. My parents kept one, I kept one (my Mouse), and the 3rd went to a no- kill shelter run by the SPCA. (i've always felt guilty about that other kitten sad )

That being said, I would love to have a Toyger if I could afford one. Otherwise I prefer picking up random kitties because it's always fun to find out how they'll be, etc. I love my Mousey and wouldn't trade him for any other kitty 4laugh
