So, another topic based on me getting season one for Christmas...
We all know that no one can be born on the island normally, and Locke still claims that "Boone was a sacrifice the island demanded."
Perhaps Boone had to die so that Aaron could be born, maybe that could be the sacrifice. In order for a baby to be born on the island, someone has to die at the same time. If this is true, maybe that's why Rousseau's crew got 'sick.' She had to kill them for the Island to allow her to have Alex...

The whole "circle of life" theme was so obvious at the end of the episode when Boone dies and Aaron is born. I think your theory definitely has merit...
