Whether or not you believe there is something after death, you should still believe in living life to the fullest. Life isn't about arriving to the grave safely, it's about sliding in head first exclaiming "D@mn! What a ride!" So I fear neither...

I'm more afraid of dying than the unknown, probably mostly because the unknown isn't an end, but a possible beginning smile

What scaries me is the unkown but that also links into dying as you do not know what happens after death, you can believe but never know for sure what happens when you die

I think that what we call the soul is merely our consciousness of ourselves, so when we die and our brains stop working, our souls die too. I'm not afraid of what happens after death because I don't think I will be conscious of it.
I know that death is a part of life and that we all die, so I shouldn't be afraid to die. I think what I fear most is that I may die without having done anything with my life. I know that shouldn't bother me because, once I'm gone, it won't matter anymore, but everyone is allowed to be irrational once in a whlie right?
It just seems selfish to me to not want to make some sort of contribution to make things better for the people who are still here while I still can. (That totally made sense in my head, but feel free to let me know if I'm being incoherent!)

I'm not as scared about the unknown because i am not a religious person and dont believe in the afterlife but death itself now well I'm more scared about the method than dying but I'd rather die quikly and not get any last words in than the opposite

I am definitely afraid of the unknown. To me dying is dying, I mean you don't really have a choice about it (though I would prefer to die peacefully). I use to be a very strong Catholic and now it scares me to think about the afterlife. Especially when I see someone secure in their religon or beliefs (whatever they may be) because I don't know what will happen to me and in my heart of hearts I really want to go to heaven. So to think about what happens to us after we die unnerves me alot. sweatdrop

funky_fudge_monkey There are alot of topics about death, a common factor which many people are scared of... but is it death they are actually scared of?? or is it what happens next (the unknown) which people fear the most?? so, tell me... in your personal opinion, what scares you the most?? how you're going to die?? or not knowing what will happen to your soul when you do?? or do you fear both of them?? or maybe you just don't care about either of them?? everyone has their own opinion, and there isn't a wrong answer, so share your thoughts ^_^ i'd love to know your views. xX how one might die could be a scary thing in and of itself. I mean, no one would want to burn to death in a raging fire, or have to experience a slow painful torturous death. but some people are afraid of death itself, nevermind the method. as far as that's concerned it is the same as fear of the unknown.

if i had to pick which one scares me more, i would have to say it is the unknown. i mean, death is just.....well, death. it's going to happen to you, and there is currently no way to stop it. why should we fear the inevitable. honestly i'm not too afraid of the unknown, either. i am a bit frightened by it, but my curiosity about the unknown far outweighs my fear of it. 3nodding
