One option is to try looking up alternative stores in your local area or to use the link directory in this forum.

But if you want to pull something together yourself from seemingly unrelated stores, you could probably try any combination of these kinds of shops:
*Costume store
*Vintage/antique clothing store
*Thrift store
*Fetish store
*Craft/fabric store
*Army surplus store
*Jewelry store

Bold: Great for items that relate to a punk-goth or deathrock look.
Italicized: Great for items that relate to a romanti-goth or EGL look.
Underlined: Great for items that relate to an industrial goth or cyber goth look.
Red: Items for do-it-yourself clothing projects.

EDIT: For best results, use both suggestions.

I will have to go with Resurreceted. Those are the best places to start off with.

And I can really relate to your situation. I'm African American too and it will be hard at first but it can happen. Also sometimes those hair supply stores can have some goth things like cheep studded belts or accessories.

Sometimes those everyday stores can have similar items that can be goth. Like the boys section in Khols, yes I have seem some goth looking things in there. Or like if you have a some kind of retail store that will help.

It's better if you don't just choose black stuff randomly. Think about what styles you like and then look for them in black. If army pants look good on you, look for black pants with a similar cut. Basically the key isn't picking black clothes, it's picking flattering clothes for your figure that happen to look gothic.

'nuff said.

That site's great for jewelry and accessories, yeah. But personally, I'm not that fond of their clothes.
