Have a little goth pride si'l vous plait! Be proud of who you are and they will respect you for it! If they don't, they aren't worth your time. Why is it socially not accepted? Look around you. What do you see? Hmm....I see people dressed in blue jeans, converse, furry boots, light jackets, aviator glasses, floral patterned dresses, blue tights, and sandals. Nothing remotley goth there...If a jellybean isn't the right size then it is rejected and not sent out into the world to be eaten by everyone. You are the jellybean that isn't the correct shape and everyone says "What a strange jellybean, it doesn't look like every other one. That's not right. mad "

Now, I think your problem is that you don't want to show your true personality because your afraid of not being accepted or in the past, eh...bad things have come out of showing it. Just stick it out until you graduate, you won't be in school forever, then you won't have to deal with them for eight hours a day, or however long your school day is. Then maybe you'll choose to work at a goth bar or something with people who will accept you. Start an alternative clothing line! Get away from the people who won't accept you because they aren't worth your time if they won't be convinced.

I used to hide my personality for a long time. It really hold me back and it made me feel depressed, not being able to be myself. For years I lived in silence, fear and I hated my life.
But I think the thing is for me that I have never been accepted by the 'group', even when I was still 'normal' because I had other interests. Now that I dress goth and really show my personality people are starting to get to know me and are accepting me more than they(my classmates and friends) used to do. The rest of the school just thinks I'm wierd(with my pointy hat, platform boots, black leather coat), still, but I can't be interested in them and for them it is similar in the opposite direction.

To be honest, the term, "Emo goth/goth emo," annoys the piss out of me. I like Bauhaus and Rites of Spring at the same time, sure, but I certainly wouldn't consider myself to be in both camps (otherwise I'd also have to throw in punk and rivethead).

Anyway, there's no reason you should need to feel inhibited to express yourself around your classmates. You seem decent enough; if your classmates feel inhibited around you, then prove that they have no reason for that, either.

It's your personality, and I think a personality is really what makes a person a person. It's up to you to make your choices though, if your ok with it or not.

Be yourself. Why hide who you are? If your friends can't accept you for who you are, they are not worth your time. As far as not being accepted well.......we don't exactly fit the norm. You're different be proud.
