I would attempt convinving using text first, then if she refuses to cease use of the name, then sure, take it to court!

Depends on the type of site. If it's something similar to gaia then I think you're overreacting. If it's something big and important then by all means, go for it.

Hi Rellik San, I am an executive legal secretary, I checked with my bosses on your situation....Legally the rights to the name are yours and they suggest that you get with a good lawyer immediately....sue her till her great grand children feel it.

I would've done the same and if nothing was done I'd get her in big trouble she wouldn't forget.

I Want Discipline ... Not to mention that it isn't the most popular name ever. I've never heard anybody else call themselves that... So obviously the girl stole it from him purposefully... I would say that that isn't necessarily true. I've googled this name (which isn't that common, I should say), and there were people with it all over the place. The internet is a wiiiide place, so it's not entirely impossible that it was an accident. However, it is certainly possible that she did, it doesn't make it "obvious". I think you should maybe give people more credit, and not automatically assume that it was with malicious intent. (the reason I'm pushing so hard on this is because I've heard many people use that expression in similar situations... I decided I should say something)

No wonder.

No wonder.Where as with the exception of the San part, there isn't really anything japanese about my user name. ^^ Which places it in a unique situation.

True... but still, automatically assuming malicious intentions is a bad thing, that is the message I was trying to put across.

Regardless. The only real way it could be accidental is by very slim coincidence.
I see no reason not to take action/not to have taken action.

I see no reason not to take action/not to have taken action.Ahhhh yes, but the principle is I only own copyright to the name "Rellik San" any derivative of is up for grabs. So 'Rellik San' is then a specific name, which has a specific purpose, as my professional identity. ^^ So even though its killer backwards its still a fairly unusual name to see floating about. Hell, I still get people asking me what it means. biggrin
