The little dragon tilts her head to a side and winks at him. "Sorry, old friend but Luna is taking a nap right now... But if you put the jar in her room, I'm sure she'll find it fun to explore. So what is your bag based on, portals or holes. My eldest youngling uses a portal effect to store his belonging, especially when he's on the road." Lyssan flies to the edge of the tumbled carpet and examines it closely.
"So how did you come by this old thing? It doesn't look like much, but I suspect appearances can be deceptive."

Lyssan gives him a dirty look. "Luna, you can't do this... Luna, you can't do that. Sheesh, Kerobian, that poor little thing is probably bored out of her wits. What's wrong with the hold anyway? All we have down here is food and miscellaneous stores. I mean if she does manage to open a barrel of pickles, all she'll get is a terrible tummy ache if she eats too much."

Well, sorry, your majesty, forgive me if I don't want my favorite little dragon down here...the last time she came, she managed to stumble upon the defensive amulet I use while we're in port, to keep the rats off our stores...and there's other things down here, too...I know for a fact some of Yuki's experiments wandered down here...and as for being bored, I let her fly every day, now that her wing has healed, and as long as I haven't worked magic up on deck, she's free to go up there....or would you rather I let her have the run of the ship and bump into a tendril of Voidmagic?

Lyssab shrugs. "She has a nose for magic or haven't you noticed that by now. Teach her the things to avoid and use her, for heaven's sake... to sniff things out. You really shouldn't baby her. How else is she going to learn?"

Lyssan stares at him as if he is the one who is bonkers. "And that is exactly why she needs to be able to identify it. Kerobian! Think! Because she can't identify it, or any other type of magic, it is all highly appealing to her right now. It's like a lodestone. It sings to her, draws her in. I know because that is exactly the way I was when I was young. Ask Jor. She probably doesn't even know how or why she likes it."

And finds out Lyssan is speaking the truth. That for many years while she was very young she was constantly draining magical items, setting off set spells and well, so full of magical energy, that no practicing mage wanted her anywhere near anything they were trying to do. If there was magic to be found, she found it, from the small and inconsequential to the major, life threatening forms.
