As they were stared at, the women suddenly became stiff, and stood straight, then opened the doors of the throne room for Arron, twitching and grunting awkwardly as they tried to fight the magic that was being used on them.

Once the doors were open he slipped inside as quietly as he could. He tried to make himself unnoticeable as he entered.

Inside, the king and queen sat in their thrones, watching as the scene before them unfolded. Talbot was on the floor on his knees, with crossed blades positioned at his throat from a knight on either side of him.He cringed, but kept his head up to avoid slicing his neck on the blades. His bleeding arm hung limply at his side with a puddle of blood beneath it. "Your Highnesses... I realized that when I set off for this quest... I would likely die." he spoke, voice sounding pained, yet brave. " Either by your hand, or by the hand of the Black King and Queen. And if that is the outcome that must come to pass, I accept it... however..." he took a moment to regain his breath, "I will not give up.. and I will not die... until I'm sure that the warring has finally come to an end..."

He stood in the back watching the scene play out. He was also hoping that Talbot would not bleed out before he could help him. If the guards did anything to hurt the knight, the mechanic would step in for he did not care if they became angry. However, Arron was ready to defend his wounded friend.

The queen was first to speak, and her voice came out stern, yet elegant. "You were missing for four years, and I'm told that your reason is that you were held captive as a powerful woman's slave. Is that correct?" she asked, no clear emotion in her voice as she said it, but a demanding quality to it.Talbot looked at the floor, ashamed of himself. "Yes, your majesty. I was... enslaved for the entire time, and I had no memory of who I was." he responded, straight forward and honest."And now that you remember, you think it is your duty to fulfil what you'd failed to do four years ago..." she uncrossed her legs, then crossed them the other way. "Talbot Nesdin, as far as this kingdom is concerned, you are dead, and your failed task has died along with you. We have no desire to reinstate the peace treaty. It was foolish to come back here, assuming the war would end simply from your reappearance." she said. Her words sounded more cold the longer she spoke.

The longer he watched, the more worried & angrier Arron became at the king & queen. However, if he spoke out, he would reveal that he had gotten out of the dungeon & would have blown any chance he had at being unnoticed out of the water. He stood there silently.

"Ggh..." Talbot cringed, having lost too much blood to be able to stay upright much longer. He was close to leaning down onto the blades and slicing his own throat from doing so. "I... do not expect the war to end so simply. But... I know that it's not so distant a future. It was only four years ago that a peace treaty was decided on. Somewhere in the hearts of the people.. of this kingdom... and the black kingdom... there's a desire to end this all." he finished, leaning slightly over, neck touching the blades.

Arron stood there, wanted so desperately to move, to pull his friend to his feet & make a break for it. However, the mechanic could not play by these rules. He was an outsider, & his actions could prove fatal to both him & Talbot. He kept staring at the knight, slightly hoping he would rise. A minute later, the young man threw caution & all his good judgement to the wind. He hurried over, & pulled his friend up to his feet.
"With no disrespect your Highness & Majesty, but if you wish to continue the questioning, perhaps you should tend to the dead man walking. Good day to you both!" he said pulling Talbot close to his chest & sprinting out the door. Arron had no energy to use Lyth's disintegration ability. He was tired from the ordeals in the past, but found a surge of energy as he ran. The only thing in his mind was getting out of the castle.

"Ah... Arron. You can't. I have to... the peace treaty..." Talbot muttered, only able to say a few words before becoming dead weight in Arron's arms."Go after them." The queen said coldly, eyes narrowing, "I'm not quite finished speaking with him." she watched as Arron and Talbot disappeared through the door."No. I'd say that's quite enough. Let them go. I'm curious..." the king replied to his wife before folding his hands on his lap.

The mechanic was not having a word from the knight. He ran the way he came. The ill fitting helmet came flying off his head, clanging loudly to the brilliant gilded floor. Arron hoped he would be soon kicking down the door that Talbot's father told him to exit from.

Sure enough, Mr. Nesdin was waiting there, looking less than pleased, as usual. He quickly took Talbot from Arron's arms. "I'll carry him. Follow me." he motioned toward Atticus, whom he'd likely saved earlier, then rushed over and climbed onto the lion.

Atticus grunted, then took off into a run, heading in a specific direction.Mr. Nesdin looked over Talbot, then carefully ripped one of his own sleeves off, then went about tying it over the injury to hopefully stifle the bleeding. "It's foolish to stay here. We'll be heading some place safe until Talbot wakes up and comes to a proper decision."

"Y-Yes Sir." said Arron hanging on. He felt shame as he suddenly realized what the father was truly giving up to save his son & friend. He would remain silent unless spoken to or when they reached safety.

Atticus ran until he was told to stop once they were a fair distance from the castle. They'd arrived at a small lodging, seemingly abandoned. The area around it was torn apart as if by the war, and a burnt grouping of houses was nearby, likely from long ago.Mr. Nesdin carefully lifted Talbot off of Atticus, and walked into the building, keeping the door open for Arron to follow along.
