tam shrugs... ye go swimming in the ocean... ye should at least rinse off... iffin ye don't yer gonna itch and smell a bit... trust me... i know... of course iffin ye don't want to... it's no skin off me back... i didn't go jumping in like ye did...... salt water and fur doesn't mix too well... yer feu will keep the salt nearer to the skin and ye'll be feeling it... not me...

tam shrugs and dries off then tells rhea about l. kero's skills at flying... he did damn good, rhea... he says watching kero from the corner of his eye... wondering how he'll like the cold shoulder treatment....

tam sits on his heels and flashes thoughts back just as fast... what was yesterday... pig liver?... kero, i'm trying to keep ye alive... ok.... i'm serious here... ye are very close to getting very very sick... i'd love to let ye use magic... and i know it's fun... but there's tons of other fun things to do.... that don't involved magic.... i know there is... can't ye wait until i've been told it's safe to let ye do it... i promise ye this... once i'm given the all clear sign i'll take ye down to the beach and ye can call up the biggest fattest salamander ye want, ok?.... just for now... please stay safe...

tam sighs... he reaches into a nearby cabinet and snares a saucepan... and places it on the floor between them... this pan is not alive... he says (hoping to keep the explanation simple and away from the more nastier elements of the thought) does it move without help? nope... he says giving it a nudge... does it think for itself.... nope... iffin the pan is to move or do anything someone else has to do it for it... it doesn't breath, doesn't eat, doesn't sleep... doesn't think... it also doesn't have magic or friends or anything... it simply is... it is not alive... it cannot feel or love or anything... it cannot be bored... or be angry... or even sad... it simply is... ye can do all those things and more... and ye do it for yerself... yer alive, kiddo.... and i want to keep it that way....
