The Toreador New Year's ball. So many in vampire high society simply could not shut up about it. Frankly, Dante hardly saw the point--but there were so many here, it seemed a waste not to at least try to network. After all, the sorts who came to this kind of party were exactly the sorts who could pay the bills for an...independent wetwork contractor.

Like Recluse, he'd chosen a golden mask that evoked their profession, and he'd gone for a flashy ensemble that he hoped drew plenty of eyes. Normally, he preferred to disappear; tonight, it was better to be noticed. To flaunt wealth earned from skill, rather than any particular connection, no matter what his parents might be up to.

It wasn't exactly pleasant, to see his mate so uncomfortable, but...networking. Important, in every business.

"Perhaps The Imperial? As close as we can get to the proper VIP lounge." No pair of Caitiff hitmen was getting into the Hellfire, but the Imperial was not so well guarded. "Clients and targets alike who are worth our time are likely to be there."

Aistra’s eyes dart back and forth suspicious of everything. When Arianna suddenly starts reacting to hers, he feels it. The young Vamp can sense her distress and fears. He can’t see the horrors she is, but he feels what she does for the most part. Unfortunately with the effects of his own drink he is no help to you. Her reactions simply make him paranoid. Growling and snarling, Aistra blushes but he can’t stop it.

Her words bring him back to ‘normal’ for the moment. “They definitely aren’t what I was expecting but this could be fun. Are you okay? You seemed to disappear for a moment.” Howling softly he leans in nipping her neck to ‘mark her’.

(Feel free to stop him, it’s part of the reaction to his drink)

Oh, good.

A long life ought to be filled with amusements, and it seemed Maltheas had found his for the moment. A partier. A flirt. Someone who wanted attention. And Maltheas did so enjoy lavishing a little attention on a beautiful male.

His hips swayed with the music, his eyes tracking the other vampire as he moved around him. Sure, he couldn't see the face under the mask, but it wasn't hard to guess that there was at least some mutual interest.

"Is that what you're looking for?" He purred back, reaching out to drag a finger down the center of the vibrant-haired male's chest. "Well, you've certainly caught me. At least for a little while."

Amid the party goers, Lady Antheia Ventru cut quite a figure. She was dressed in a floor length pastel rainbow gown that opened in a big, sweeping skirt like the petals of a rose. Her mask was silver and gleamed with gems in the full spectrum of colors, artfully decorated in the shape of a star. For this special occasion, she had let her hair down, and it trailed down to float just above the floor, a shock of blue, black, and strawberry blond gleaming as she moved.

She caught sight of her illustrious grandmother, Artemis Ventru, and smiled like sunshine. Although she longed to greet her, it did not escape her notice that the Disciple was not alone. Instead, she swept into a deep curtsey, and continued on her way. At last, she found herself in the upscale Imperial bar in the West Wing. It did not take long to find a glass of something palatable, and Antheia took a moment to enjoy a sip.

Zao-xue gave him a brief smile and sat down, pausing as he pulled his book out from the depths of his robes, and smiled again, slightly more awkwardly this time.

"This just seemed like the quietest corner," he said apologetically. "I did not exactly wish to come, but... Well, peer pressure is a very powerful tool."

He chuckled a little. "Hopefully we can simply... quietly get along?"

That was the thing - Fin knew him better than any others. What other vampires, perhaps outside of his own clan, knew just how terrifying he could be when he wished it. How many knew to what lengths he'd gone in dealing with Finvarra's little clan? He doubted any truly grasped the extent of things. Grendal of course knew, he knew everything, but others in this room? Marconius doubted others saw him as the brutal vampire he could be, considering how he carried himself and his manners being what they were.

"You and I both know our taste runs different from most others. It's not rude to state start the truth." Especially not when he spoke so nicely, when the honesty was so nicely packaged.

"Mmm, yes, perhaps I shall let you go off and enjoy the rest of the evening. It is rather rude to occupy someones time all night long." As if that were the reason for him to easily leave the others side, they both knew he was just losing intrest as this little game was winding down between them. He would, of course, find the other some other night and bother him again. He might not be able to kill Finvarra but that didn't mean he couldn't bother him in other ways. Turning away from Finvarra the ancient vampire headed off, to find something to drink for himself, perhaps he would find something else to occupy his time tonight.

The tall curvy woman enters the large manor. Her mothers invited her so here she is. She is wearing a black and gold dress with lots of jewelry. A purple boa is around her shoulders and tail while a gold mask covers most of her face. (She’s wearing her cert outfit plus a mask) Gliding through the building Mysteria wanders without a goal in mind. As she reaches the West Wing the young lady spots Lady Antheia. She has no idea who she is, but she caught her eye. Crossing to her, Mysteria smiles brightly. “Hello gorgeous. May I join you?”

So far, Sarcedsia has been in a corner watching everyone. She has patiently watched, listened, and taken notes. On top of that, she has stayed out of the way to avoid the others. The Oberloch Disciple is here out of respect to Grendel. However, someone catches her attention as he moves. Narrowing in on Marconius she closes her eyes to take in his scent in an attempt to identify him. With a guess as to who he is, she finally moves out of the corner. Sneaking her way over to him, the ancient being greets the male she believes to be a fellow Disciple. “Good evening. I suppose I should mingle a little…”

Being a hermit Sarcedsia made her own costume. It’s a simple black
dress and mask but she did her best.

Of course Rude wanted attention. He wanted ALL the attention. Who wouldn’t? Especially when it came from handsome men. It’s why he dresses the way he did, or barely dressed one might say. The bright, glittery colors he adorned himself with. Even the mask for this party was meant to draw the attention of the crowd. To stand out among so many others.

Clearly it was working.

A shiver ran down his spine as the finger trailed a descent along his chest. A breathy laugh passing through his lips as he leaned in, pushing the mask up just slightly, revealing glittery, vibrant blue painted on his lips as he spoke into the other’s ear. “Stick around long enough and I’ll show you exactly what I want.”

Lowering the mask once more he turned, pressing his back up against the other vampire’s front as they continued to dance. Reaching an arm up and back to wrap fingers languidly around the back of Maltheas’ neck. He was a shameless flirt and had no issue with what others thought of that. Though with the crowds he hung around being a shameless flirt was probably the tamest title one could get.

Turning now, he brought his other arm up to link his fingers together behind the “Neonate’s” neck as they danced. “My, my then. I guess I’m real lucky tonight. If I’ve already caught one so soon.”

That the vampires present at the Masquerade were veritable children in the Crone's eyes did not bother her. As she arrived with Fauna on her arm, a basket of blood cookies tucked in the crook of her other arm, Narcise scanned the crowd, searching for signs of Grendel. He had been dear to her in many ways... and then he had become her own god. A significant improvement over his father, to be sure. It seemed that he was quite settled in his position, comfortable in the role that was still new. It suited him. She was proud of him, though didn't care to mention it.

He was a grown god, after all. For all her age, Narcise did not look like the Crone she was named, but for the wisdom in her gaze. Though she was wearing a mask, there were very few vampires with the swirls of wood bark upon their forms. Perhaps a mask was not enough to conceal her. "Come, my dear," she said, allowing Fauna anonymity, if she desired it. It had not been so long ago that the Antediluvian had slumbered, awakening only at her Disciple's call.

This was not Narcise's scene, as it were, but one did one's best. This year she had a companion, at least. However fresh from slumber, Fauna would fit the role very well indeed. Her heart wasn't in it, but on the off-chance that one of her children might choose to attend, she was here. And the fresh blood cookies were for one very special party guest. One who seemed a bit preoccupied at the moment. She could wait. She was, after all, a patient woman.

The relatively new Vampire has been trying to blend in. She is still new to hiding who and what she is, such a change from when she was mortal. Summer wanted to come though, to learn and observe. Wearing a simple flower dress and rose mask, Summer is one of few not all decked out in fancy things.

It would be impossible for her not to notice Narcise. She is after all the Vampire who embraced her last year. Wishing to pay her respects to Narcise, Summer patiently waits until she is free from everyone else. When there’s an opening the young fledgling joins Narcise and curtsies. “It’s an honor to see you.”

Marconius was not expecting someone else to approach him, he had assuemd he would need to approach someone else if he were going to engage in any sort of socalizing. Instead someone, from the feel and scent of it they were a fellow disciple, had decided to approach him. "Indeed, that is the prupose of this gathering. To do otherwise may offend our gracious hosts." After all the Toreador were such generous hosts and they were the social sort, something he was most certainly not, but that meant they expected those here to socalize and...mingle as it were. That word was so...simple, bland really.

"I do hope you're evening has been pleasent thus far." Bowing his head as he was fully focused on the female, even bowing a bit to her, black eyes watching her even if it were impossible to tell what he was looking at exactly.

Truth be told Sarcedsia hadn’t planned on approaching anyone. This is solely because it’s expected of her and he is someone she feels she can have a conversation with. ”It’s been… not as bad as I thought.” She would prefer to be home and near anywhere without others; her presence is solely out of respect. “Yes, quite gracious of them. I’m simply not a social creature. By nature I’m a recluse. However as you pointed out, it’s not wise to offend anyone.” Smirking at his bow, she curtsies slightly in return. Her sapphire eyes sparkle slightly, the only indication that she might be enjoying herself. The only signs of who she is are if someone recognizes her scent which she doesn’t meet many. The other way are the deep scars on her tail from Enoch.

"No, not all of us here are social by nature, some of us do prefer our own company." Or that of a childe, who was still young enough to need guidance from a sire, he was one of those himself. He didn't find himself enjoying such events though tonight was an exception, Finvarra had provided some entertainment for Marconius and made this worth it. He was certain he would continue coming to these events if Finvarra continued, if only to bother the other with his presence, his fellow disciple did was such a good companion to converse with.

"Tell me, how fares your clan?" Or was it a bloodline, such as his own? He would assume a bloodline, like himself and Finvarra. This wasn't someone he knew either...so new to things perhaps. Perhaps they'd been in torpor for some time. He would, in time, find out more about this disciple. Whether they told him or he found out about them via other means...well that didn't matter really, information was just that - information. How it was attained hardly mattered. Marconius simply sought knowledge and information, via any means necessary.

Swirling the vitae infused drink in her hand, Lady Antheia tilted her head to the side, glancing at the newcomer. "Hello. You may, if you wish." It was her first Toreador party. She was still young and inexperienced, the granddaughter of Artemis Ventru herself, and two of the Graverobbers. A surprising yet prestigious combination. Her other grandmother, Lady Atlantea, was nowhere to be found. Nor had her mothers attended the masquerade.

"What's your pleasure?" she asked, gesturing to the immaculate menu that was set nearby. The drink in her own hand was a little fruity, though she didn't think there was much more than wine in it. Other than the vitae, of course. She smiled slightly, taking in the sight of the woman in her fabulous attire. More of a Daeva, if she was to guess, than her own Ventrue.
