Phantom Anon

"In a way I am protecting my home..." Cid started quietly, "I was asked to seek out a...problem, that my Kingdom has been plagued with, that there were rumors of something like it in this land." Before the spirit could ask what it was or why, the knight beat her to it, "I have a few skills unique to me, that was why I was chosen. I hunt this problem, a monster that preys on the living, ensnaring them, stealing their physical form for their own, and wreaking havoc in my homeland...it is my duty, on my life, to ensure that does not happen elsewhere."

Hearing the approach of another, the knight's expression brightened and she turned, her finger raised, and lightly tapped the newcomer on the nose, "And my next choice is our new guest! Who might you be, Madam?" The tell-tale swish of dress-skirts gave that much away at least.

As she approaches the table, she is immediately greeted by Phantom. She was trying to avoid conversations, but that idea is now blown. Not like it could be helped. Events like this tend to be filled with interaction between party goers. It was bound to happen, eventually.

"Oh... Umm... Hi-" Before she could finish, the other young woman boops her nose lightly. Her stare is now fixed on her. Her expression is one of confusion, possibly slight annoyance too. "What was that..?"

Cid, being unable to see the woman's expression, simply smiled up at her...and then froze, realizing just what she'd done. Why was she always doing stuff like that?! Gah, she needed to think before acting! "Ah...ah...Hi there!"

Why were you so vague about this threat you were hunting? The Phantom was perplexed by it. The arrival of Kate's companion had bought you only a little time. She knew exactly what she wanted to ask next. Looking at the new woman, she sighed. "I must admit, I do not know this one. She is familiar...I just cannot say why."

The Phantom flippantly waved the woman's question away, "Forgive her, she is blind." The ghost stared at the witch with startling intensity for a few moments. Finally, the intensity lessened and she sighed again. "Have we met before? You seem incredibly familiar..."

The mermaid entered into the ballroom, being very careful so as not to trip over her long skirt. Despite her nervousness at possible frightening strangers, she also couldn't help but beam rather proudly at just how grown up she looked. Her friend that had helped her get ready had promised she looked just like a pretty grown up!

Of course, with her attention no longer on her feet, the mermaid stumbled and nearly tripped as her foot caught on the inside hem of her skirt. Eyes wide, she waved her arms until she caught her balance, then raised a hand to stifle a giggle as she looked around. Everyone looked so fancy! Straightening up her posture, she tried her best to look as elegant as the others. Despite her best efforts, however, she was still the same old bouncy, giggly mermaid, no matter how fancy she might have been dressed.

Well, then the nose tap made some sense to her now. "Blind. Ah... Forgive me, then." Clara glances back at the ghostly woman. Her questioning had her grinning. "I don't know. Have we?"

Cid crossed her arms in front of her, silently fuming at the way she was seemingly dismissed by the spirit. But after a few seconds, she calmed down, thinking about it reasonably, taking a few breaths and set to listening intently at both ladies. Information was to be gained after all. Very quickly, the Phantom realized that she did not like where this line of conversation was going. The woman's grin was going to grate on her nerves soon. The woman had come with Kate and clearly knew who she was... Despite this information, she still could not place how the woman knew her. The ghost visibly straightened and a blank look overcame her features. "Hmm, I think not. I apologize for my error. You may call me Phantom." She motioned to Cid, "And this is Cidri. To whom do I address?"

Lucky heard giggling and looked over at the newest arrival. Didn't River look fancy! She walked over to the mermaid, trying not to bounce herself. Her energy was contagious! "Well hello, River~" she smiled. "You look quite elegant tonight. Here," she held out a pocket square to the mermaid. "A party favor for you~"

As the stars competed with streetlights, a lone bus finally pulled up outside the glittering ballroom. Now it stood to reason tonight that there would be other buses around later, hired for the occasion. Judging by the stripes and lettering along the front and sides, this bus was clearly one of the Grasshopper Express bunch, but oddly enough it was a bit shorter than the regular 40-foot Orion bus... And the seats were softer. Coming in at only 32 ft., 135 was usually restricted to running the 9 loop, or other short, one-shot trips. But tonight with only three passengers, and one of his most favorite people in a dress, the fluffy Orion wouldn't be anywhere else in the world. Mo rubbed the plush blue seat beside her absently as she looked between her two seniors.

Lewis sat directly across from her at ease.
"That color suits you Mo. You really look lovely." The sorcerer himself was dressed in a finely made suit of deep plum, with a long, navy blue coat that flared out at the back. "Everybody there will be in a dress if they're a lady. You got nothing to worry about, nobody will look at you twice." By contrast, Nathan sat sideways on Lewis' right; giving them most of his back and staring stubbornly out the window. Being unable to find a place that would lend the driver proper formal attire, (There hadn't been THAT many tears in the last tuxedo... And at least he'd actually brought the rest of it back, hadn't he?) and quite honestly being unwilling to come, Nate had resigned himself to dressing in his most formal uniform attire for work, ending up in all blue. "Hey, that's not nice!" Lewis chided. Mo rolled her eyes. As the two of them glanced at Lewis, Mo caught Nathan's gaze and the pair immediately had the same thought: At least he left the hat at home this time.

135 opened his front door, kneeling down.
"Alright, alright. You guys going in, or what? I'll be wandering around out here if you need me..." The bus smirked at Mo, "Y'know, keeping the bees company.~" Lewis exited the bus first, helping Mo down the stairs while Nate followed, helping with her long dress. Mo gave the bus a level look. "Bees stay outside, Nine. And they don't go exploring any dresses where they shouldn't be either." 135 ignored her, suddenly struck by an idea. "Oh OOOHH! WAIT! Mo get back on! Can we do that again? I should use my wheelchair lift, I can lower you out and it'll look cool!" Mo started cracking up, but Lewis gave the bus a stern look. "No. That's not what it's for." "Aw! Can we do it when she gets back? Pleeeeeeeaaaase?" The bus almost sounded like a child and Nate huffed a sigh. "Maybe. Now let's go."

With Mo between her two seniors, the bus drivers headed for the door to the ballroom and filed inside. They went in far enough to leave room for other foot traffic to the door before stopping to get a look at things. Everything looked amazing, including all the gathered people, and there were a lot of those. Mo held her hands together plainly. Her fingers couldn't help tightening around each other slightly even though she noted a few familiar faces. "So now what do we do?"

[[It totally works 3nodding ]]

Just as Lucky was beginning to start a conversation with her shy mermaid friend, she noticed three newcomers enter the ballroom. The men she did not recognize, but after a few short moments, she realized why the lady seemed to familiar. It had been a while since she had last seen Mo! And now that she thought about it, she hadn't really seen her in formal attire before. With a smile, she waved to her.

Seeing one of her old friends, the mermaid giggled and bounced on her toes a bit as she gave a happy wave. "H-h-hello!" She stammered, before beaming brightly at the compliment. "I-I-I'm a r-real grown up l-l-lady!" She exclaimed enthusiastically.

Looking down at the pocket square curiously, she wondered what the odd item was for. It was certainly awfully pretty, though! "Oh... Th-th-thank you!" She exclaimed, taking it and looking it over with wonder.

[[I feel like River just had a dinglehopper moment XD]]

Lucky giggled at the mermaid's enthusiasm. "I couldn't agree more." She paused for a moment as River examined the pocket square. It looked like this might be one of those things the young mermaid had not come across before. "It's a pocket square," Lucky explained. "Think of it as a handkerchief that is used for decoration instead. You can put it in a pocket if you have one, or I can make a bow out of it for you, if you want?"
