"If dreams can't come true, then why not pretend?"

Hazel decided to get back to work, she began to organize some of the items in the back part of the bar table. She was big on organization, it made her life easier due to her mind getting cluttered easily. It helped her. She paid some attention to the conversation though, interested in learning the lady's name. But also about Gideon. Brazil? It must have been so nice, she always wanted to live somewhere tropical. Her dream of that is semi true now living in Soleil City.

Why do I miss someone I never met?
With bated breath I lay.

Zoe was a bit surprised not to hear much from Hazel, but... as she hadn't been making eye contact with anyone at the time, it probably made sense for whoever took it to mean she was talking to them had spoken up. Though... heh... in a way, her question had been for both of them. This worked out alright, too.

"Nice to meet you, Gideon." Introductions. That was a nice thing to take care of. ... That was right, she hadn't given her name at all, had she? "I'm Zoe. A... friend of mine, a teacher, said this was a good place to adapt and learn. He spoke highly of the legend, too, but it's not the main reason I'm here."

It was sad, in a way, but true. There was such a wide variety of people here that Mr. Bargar knew having her in their general presence would help her learn about the variety of races she would probably be met with or interact with at one point or another. She was sure that this was a method of his for helping her adapt. After all, when she was normal, her experience had been fairly limited to the kinds of beings that lived around her hometown. Spirits, some shapeshifters, and the like.

She definitely couldn't argue about the weather. She loved the warmth of the tropics. This, to her, was paradise.

And all the poetry in the world finally makes sense to me.
Sometimes a dream turns into a dream.

"Well," Gideon started, turning around to face her. "I'm glad you're here." He smiled at Zoe and went back to his work, pulling two bottles of vodka from the shelves to examine. Smirnoff and Grey Goose. He liked both of them, and Absolut wasn't so bad, either. A fair share of vodka had been downed by the sangria haired man, so he knew how to differentiate between the qualities. Vodka was vodka. If you weren't used to it, it went down like rubbing alcohol and would leave your breath smelling like nail polish. To the people who were used to it, like him, it was basically like drinking water with a spicy yet smooth aftertaste. You knew not to drink it alone, and you knew not to pair it with certain things, too.

Some of them were a bit sweet as well. He also enjoyed those. Ideally, vodka was to have no taste. Some people sought out sweeter ones, or hardier ones. Generally, grain vodkas tended to give off a taste, he found. Those were usually the ones that were strawberry, or watermelon, or peppermint flavored. The semi-fancy sweet stuff. Potato was far superior, in that sense. Especially when it came to tastelessness. Startched vodka was higher in alcoholic volume, and smoother. It was Gideon's first choice.

He wasn't the liquor king or anything, but in his many years of living, had tasted a lot of vodka and knew what the hell the stuff was supposed to feel like. If you want it fruity, make it fruity yourself or buy it fruity. In his opinion, if you were looking for sweet alcohol, just use liqueur. It came in dozens of flavors and legitimately was useful in giving Vodka a better flavor while remaining extremely alcoholic. Mixing those cocktails could get you hella drunk. Grey Goose offered a multitude of flavors for great drinks. It's an alcoholic substance - something to make your head fuzzy and your body warm. You don't drink vodka for the taste, you add stuff in there to make it bearable.

Gin and Rum were completely different stories. There was nothing better than some gin and tonic, or rum and coke. Whether dark or light, Gideon would drink it any time of day with pretty much anything. The flavors were defined and smooth, and strong enough to give a nice buzz after 10 or 12 drinks. Though, to be fair, he put in way less "flavor" that actual liquor, preferring the piquant taste.

( i had nothing else to talk about so i just went on about spirits emotion_facepalm )

Hazel walked over to Zoe and gave her a few fancy mints from the counter as well as her receipt "Here, it's just the Nachos which are four bucks" She said and smiled over to her

"Thank you." She was quite glad to be on the island too. The man seemed to go back to work, though, so Zoe didn't feel the need to interrupt him. She was able to finish off the plate by the time she was informed of the total and handed her receipt.

Four dollars total? Perhaps there was no sales tax here.

Pleasantly surprised by this, Zoe withdrew the amount that was needed, checked the receipt again, and then handed the due amount to the waitress. The mints were welcome. (They were always welcome. They were mints!)

When everything here was settled, Zoe felt that, perhaps, it was time for her to head out. As pleasant a conversation as she had... she felt that she was getting in the way just a little bit. It was better to get to know people when they weren't at work and busy with a job. Besides... Zoe didn't feel this was the atmosphere for a conversation.

She pocketed the mints and stood. She gave a gentle bow to the staff. "Thank you very much. I hope you have a good day."

Then, with content smile, she excused herself. She could scope out other places to work before the day ended.

Blair pushed open the door slowly stepping inside of The Captain's Deck. He hadn't been aware of this place until one of his random wandering fits brought him to it's doors. He hadn't been inside a bar in some time, but going for a drink every once in a while wasn't a bad thing. He had actually been rather bored, so spending some time outside the house was very appealing. He brushed some of his wild hair out of his eyes, this being one of the days where he chose not to wear his glasses. Instead he had put in his contact lenses, allowing his gold eyes to be in full view. His arms were behind his head as he made his way towards the bar, gazing around the whole interior. It was a pretty cool looking place. somewhere he could see himself coming to if he wanted a good party night. He finally made it to the bar, sitting in one of the seats. Resting his arms on the surface and leaning his face on one of his hands, he grinned at the bartender. "Hey man, how's it going?" he said trying to start up a friendly conversation as he thought about what he wanted to drink and possibly eat as he noticed some good sounding food items. He wasn't a very big drinker, but he also wasn't a light weight, he could hold his liquor pretty well.

"Come back any time you want to have some fun, chica. You know me, I'll be here." He offered her a wink and a wave, beginning to put back some of the liquor bottles he'd pulled out for inspection. It didn't take very much effort to memorize all the drinks on the menu and how to prepare them, especially because he was familiar with all of them. However, knowing where the actual bottles were and fishing them out was going to take a bit of practice. It was just his luck that he had ample time to explore the bar and all its crevices.

Zoe had been nice. One of those super calm people who seemed to be chill with pretty much anything. A bit like him; and that was nice. He was sure that if they met again, that the man would surely need to invite her for some coffee or something. She would be great to share coffee with. Little did he know she was his neighbor, too. That would make for some fun times. Gideon took to once more polishing some glasses - martini this time. He was craving a dirty martini. Or 14. Nothing was better than a brined olive on your tastebuds while dancing with a pretty little face. The more he thought about it, the more he realized he'd be spending his hard-earned paycheck here. Though, judging by the nice service, maybe it would only be the tips.

The door opened a ways away, making Gideon's eyes focus on the person approaching the bar. A man with stunning golden eyes and fiery hair. Likewise. The bogeyman smirked as he was addressed, setting down his polishing cloth and glass to give the customer his full attention. "Hello yourself, stranger. I'm doing pretty well, but I'd be better if I could offer you a nice drink. What's your poison?"

Gideon turned and walked over to their drink section, pointing to their various selections. "My name is Gideon. Gideon Villalobos." His name was pronounced with a perfect Spanish accent, making it sound more exotic than it actually was. "And yourself?" A customary smile appeared on his face, one that highlighted his perfect features and stunning green eyes, as well as intense sangria colored hair. He's not bad looking at all... The man thought to himself, wondering what the work-based protocol was for flirting with customers.

"If dreams can't come true, then why not pretend?"

Hazel had noticed another patron coming in, it would be fun to work rather then just stand there awkwardly next to the tall Spaniard. Not that she didn't enjoy his company, but she felt as if she was suppose to do something other then stand there. Perhaps her job? Yes. But this man looked to be one coming in for a drink, not food. However she remained close just in case the man did infact want some food. He looked youthful and had a fiery aspect to him. Due to the dark red hair and golden eyes. As if he originated from fire itself. He was cute, but didn't seem very interested in women. Hazel figured he must swing the other way..he did seem nice and fun. She paid attention to the two as the interacted.

Blair hummed softly, tapping his cheek as he made his decision, which he did a few moments later. "I think I'll take a Grateful Dead if you'd please." His voice was smooth and mellow, a bit deep as well. He'd heard about the drink before but had never actually tried it. 'There'a a first time for everything.' Was a thought he liked to keep in his mind. He blinked when the man's accent hit his ears and a silly grin slowly spread over his face, showing off his abnormally sharp teeth. He wasn't sure why but he rather liked hearing different accents from people. "Nice to meet ya Gideon, my name is Blair Darrows." He introduced himself with a playful wink. The man- Gideon's green eyes were a bit hard to look away from. Blair had never seen eyes so vivid. He didn't want to seem like a creep so he quickly broke eye contact. His gaze wandered a bit, before landing on a young lady who also looked to working in the club. "Well hello there young miss." He called over and gave her a wave, hoping that she'd come over to talk as well. He might've been gay but even he could certainly appreciate the company of a cute girl.

"Blair..." Gideon said the name himself, as if to taste how it felt on his lips. The sangria haired man grinned. Blair, hm? He liked that. There had been many Blairs in his life. Some women, some men. They were all fiery people, much like him. Liked getting their opinion out there, liked being heard. The bogeyman faintly wondered if this stranger was the same. Turning, he went to the liquor cabinet and produced tequila, vodka, rum, gin, and raspberry liqueur. Once the alcohol had been separated out, Gideon turned back around to address Blair.

"I'll need to see some ID, if you would please." The smile was back, remaining when Blair took out said identification for the bartender to examine. He looked at the picture and age on the card, carefully comparing it to the actual person. Same face. That was good. There had been several times he'd experienced youth trying to scheme their way into drinking when they were underage. In truth, he didn't care very much about it, either. Drinking was quite fun, and so long as you did it responsibly, he had no problems with it. It was only when the person drinking created problems for others and himself that his opinion drastically changed. The card was returned, and the drink creation was continued. A bit of all the alcohol went into a unchilled highball glass. It was then set aside for the cocktail mixer when all was fully incorporated.

Gideon popped open the device and put in about a cup of ice, cutting a lemon and lime in half, squeezing them into the cup. Finally, some simple syrup was added and he capped it, shaking vigorously until the sour mix was created. The liquid was then drained into the glass, ice added carefully afterwards. He topped it off with a mix of a straw, and customarily served it to his guest with a coaster on the bottom. "Please, enjoy." Gideon said, flashing him another one of his charming smiles. Shortly after that, his position moved from the corner to the cash register, order put in. The bogeyman walked back to his spot from before and wiped both the workspace and bar.

Those drinks could be pretty hefty, especially for what looked like a pretty thin guy. Gideon didn't let that form too much of an opinion, though. Look at him. At first glance he appeared to be just as lanky, but could hold down his liquor as well. The man sat back and watched Blair enjoy his drink with smoldering eyes, wondering in the back of his mind how Hazel's wound was doing, and how she would respond to their customer.

User ImageIt was due time for the young socialite to patronize a local pub. He did not intend to get too used to beverages he didn’t already possess, though. He’d been at a yacht club three hours previously for a soirée his associate had been hosting, though Aleksey, or “Aleks” as his acquaintances called him, had not been impressed by the mediocre musicians, cheap liquor, and poor excuse for a “luxury” yacht. He was all too pleased to leave and move on.

When the vehicle came to a stop, his chauffeur stepped out to open the door for him, allowing the young gentleman to step out. Aleksey Stanislavski, seven syllables, five feet and eleven inches of pride, stood with such refined composure that he could’ve been mistaken a modern aristocrat. He’d settled to wear a steel blue suit with a black satin dress shirt, an 18ct white gold watch, and a sapphire ring that complemented his magnificent blue eyes. His scent was that of extravagant foreign cologne composed of woody aromatic fragrances so alluring that one could forget their troubles, but he’d leave such distractions to the liquor, not the exquisite aroma.

He turned to his chauffeur and glanced at his watch before speaking. “I’ll be expecting you in an hour and a half,” he said authoritatively. Aleksey seldom asked for anything, so he spoke as to express his expectations, not to ask permission. After his chauffeur replied with an obedient nod, Aleksey turned in the direction of the establishment and proceeded up, precise and rhythmic steps to make sure his Oxfords wouldn’t find a single speck of dirt grazing the sides. His observation of the location was that it’d certainly been different compared to the usual venues he graced with his presence.

It wasn’t long before he’d step foot into the bar, his eyes fixated on the bar, not even batting an eye at anyone else, but he’d kept a straight face, not displaying an ounce of arrogance or vanity, merely a focused aura. He took an available seat at the front, whichever appeared the most befitting, before turning his attention to the present bartender. “I’d like to start a tab, the payment in plastic,” he said, sliding over his credit card before proceeding with his order, “Armadale and John’s Premium, six cubes of ice, three ounces of vodka, two ounces of tonic, a single lime wedge for the garnish, all of which in a highball glass. When I’m three quarters through, prepare a Vodka Martini, the same vodka, a 3:1 ratio of vermouth, dry, stirred, and on the rocks, an olive garnish within a traditional glass,” he said, being very specific as to which brand he wanted for his vodka, only a premium brand to sate him. He’d taken the liberty of glancing at the selection before making an order, so he knew they’d be have the capability, now the memory and desire to satisfy remained to be seen. He’d been more specific with his initial drink, though he’d mellow out for the second cocktail. Aleksey wasn’t about to pull a “shaken not stirred”; he preferred his martinis stirred, no extraneous shards of ice. He would tip quite generously if the bartender succeeded.

The man had always found it so interesting that no matter how long he lived - time seemed to pass just as fast. Hundreds of years later, a truly long day was just as long, but in the blink of an eye you could also so easily see the week pass in just a few seconds. Gideon had been working diligently here for what seemed like only an hour or two. He checked the time and saw it was already almost checkout. It had gotten quite late, much to his interest. He didn't mind it at all. The freaks came out a night. That was always fun. Today was probably the most productive day he'd had in 3 months. Brazil didn't give him a lot to do besides relax. Today he met three people of great appeal to him. A pretty little young lady who was his coworker, a calm young woman who ordered some nachos, and an attractive guy who he could see spending a night or two with if he was lucky. Though, Gideon was sure that would take 4 or 5 more Grateful Deads. This day could only bring other interesting people to his side. The thought especially held true with the entrance of a man who looked out of place in this bar. Gideon gave him his full attention.

What a guy... The sangria haired man thought almost dreamily, observing Aleksey's motions and words. People like this were fantasies to him. This was the modern version of all the men he'd killed when he was younger. Self obsessed, wealthy, confident. It was a true shame that most of them weren't gay. He hated the way they looked down on people and made them feel, but just wished for once he could see them behind closed doors. To know if it was just an act. To know if they were different in the presence of a little heat. It made Gideon's mind race. He almost didn't catch his customer's words.

Action was taken the moment Aleksey opened his mouth to make the requests. Gideon walked over to the register and pressed a couple of buttons. He stopped after a few moments and returned to face the stranger, smiling pleasantly. "Certainly. I'll need to see some identification to serve you, as well as put the necessary information under the tab." Once the ID and Credit Card was handed to Gideon, he returned from whence he came to enter the data into the system. Of course, the bartender had to check to see if Aleks met the age requirements to be served alcohol in the first place. He didn't think the man didn't fit those credentials, but of course, as per request of his manager - he had to check.

What a bother. If an underage person wanted to get some drinks, Gideon hardly thought someone checking ID would stop them. Fake ones were surprisingly easy to produce. He knew. Most of his were indeed those. Having papers that said he was 530 years old wouldn't go over well with authorities. It would make for a good joke, though. He liked jokes. Especially ones that made other people look dumb. Those were the best kind, even if they were directed towards him. It paid to not have things that got under one's skin.

The bartending male returned the documents to the man, finally turning to the drink of choice. Armadale and John’s Premium, six cubes of ice, three ounces of vodka, two ounces of tonic, a single lime wedge for the garnish, all of which in a highball glass. Gideon remembered it because it sent chills up his spine. Man, guys like these were really tempting to him. So smart. So perceptive.

He worked backwards to make sure all the ingredients and materials were accounted for. First was the lemon wedge garnish in the highball glass. He needed to wash his hands for that. So, he did. Men like this were nit-picky. Better to do more than less. His highball glass was produced and cleaned swiftly, dried with a fresh paper towel. Cloth gathered more bacteria and could leave markings. As he worked, Gideon wondered if the man would find a reason to critique his work. He felt as if he was being watched. It encouraged him.

Six cubes of ice were produced from their cooler and put into the clean glass, and the alcohol was chosen. Gideon had to reach into the very top shelf to get a hold of both items. They hadn't been used yet. The vodka was measured out - two pre-checked jiggers. 1.5 ounces each, that's three ounces total for the man. A smaller jigger was also brought out. This one only measured once ounce exactly. He used two of them for the tonic. All of it was poured into the glass immediately, and when he was done, he washed a lime, cut it in half, and eventually into a perfect wedge. The drink was presented to him along with a coaster. It was only when Gideon began cleaning up his things that he calmly said to the man, "Please, enjoy."

"If dreams can't come true, then why not pretend?"

Hazel noticed the new patron come in, it was getting later in the night. They wouldn't really need a waitress's with everyone fixated on drinking and partying. At least she hoped so, she always ended up being the sober one. She wasn't an alcoholic but she enjoyed a few drinks now and then. She only drank under the circusmstance that someone could be sober for her. Due to her light weight, she often was the designated sober within her friends. She often had to wash the drunken mess out of her clothes from them, she didn't mind because they were her friends of course! Those these men seem like they could hold down at least a dozen drinks.

Speaking of which she had never seen someone be so precise about their alcohol, sure you want to get a good drink. But it was astonishing at how the man ordered his drink. Had he rehearsed saying it? She would often mess up when ordering just a simple glass of wine. He seemed to have a brilliant mind, he wasn't so bad looking . Though he looked a little too rough for her. She paid close attention in case the man would order any food. She couldn't let Gideon always do her job. Even though she was more then grateful for his help.
