Firon Destind Well, I'm a bassoon, so the Rite of Spring was the hardest.
The damned thing starts on the second C above the staff!
Plus, I had a lot of pressure on me, seeing as I'm the first chair bassoonist and the only playing the intro.
It's a pretty tough piece.
I applaud you. The hardest song I've played is NOT one from orchestra... Chopin's Fantasie-Impromptu for piano. Your right hand plays an almost incessant run of sixteenth notes while your left hand matches that with sextuplet eighth notes. And all this is played at... just an estimate - 144 quarter note beats per minute.

^_^[videl-chan]^_^ We played a song called Symphonic Dance No.3. It was one of the BEST songs I ever played. But it was also the hardest song I've ever played.
I played that song too in the Brampton You th Symphony Orchestra for a performance. It was easy with the acception that it was PRESTO! SOOOO FAST!
But the hardest song I ever played was probably Ross Roy for the concert band. Lord God, there's so many runs and I'm a floutist. But as 2nd semester approaches, we will be playing two songs with so many more runs. I might die if I'm not careful.

For me, it would be between some of the following pieces:
Calif of Baghdad - I dont remember who wrote it. I practiced that piece every day and I STILL couldn't get those runs. And this was a third clarinet part. Never say 3rd is easy, because there are times when it's not.
Crown Imperial - Ugh. Long AND hard.
Festive Overture - Hard in for me high school, easier at the University level for some reason, lol.
Gabrieli (?) 5th Symphony for Winds - Very hard, even at the University level
Masquerade for Band - by Persichetti. Just Plain. Hard.
Smetana Fanfar - by Husa. Sooo..... many.... 16th note triplets.... and being a Clarinetest, I can only tongue so fast..... noooo crying
Those are the ones I can think of....

Probably Stars and Stripes Forever.
Seeing I play the flute and my director gave me a solo, it was really difficult.
And we never got to play it for the competition, because my director got the date wrong. >.>
Oh well, it was still fun.

It is really hard on flute, and I had to play really softly, which made it harder.
