yes!!! oh yes!!!! there's this one chick Bobina who no matter what we do she always misses one step off in hte entire show no matter if we even at a comp. she did it ALL year last year even at semi finals and shes starting to do it again this year and i'm almost afraid someone will get to her before i do. The directors could come stand six inches in front of her and count FOR HER and she'd still miss the step off! scream we can't kick her out because our marching band is small enough as it is, and there's no piont of putting the band through all of the drill setting again. so i guess i'm stuck with her until she finds something better to do or graduates which sadly is the same year i do. gonk scream crying

Ah, I just got back from my first week of band camp and I have quite the urge to smash a few people's faces in.
Lesee. Lemme start off by explaining that we operate with our 'Leadership Team' consisting of 3-4 drum majors, a section leader for every section, assistant section leaders, and then Woodwind, Brass and Percussion section leaders.
So, it's our afternoon block and our director likes to be nice and let us do inside rehearsal when it's really hot out, so we're working on music in a little classroom with our clarinet dude. There's eighteen of us, and since I'm the only one who talks to the the freshmen (Muddles=Junior). Our section leader/assistants all play first part, with a few sophmores on it too. So, except for a few exceptions, the firsts are all on one side of the room and the seconds are all on the other.
All we have/had at this point is the music for our first movement, and the parts are a little different. So, firsts all play their stuff while the seconds are, for the most part, sitting down while they have the chance (we had to stand unless we weren't playing), or fingering through the beginning, completely silent. So, they go through our first twelve measures and our instructor turns to the seconds.
Firsts are yakking their heads off. This happened multiple times in a two hour block of time and I was half-tempted to scream, "Hey, SECTION LEADERS. THE FRESHMEN ARE BEING QUIETER THAN YOU."
I'll probably have more. Our Section Leader sucks, because our band director seems to be under the impression that because she can play her instrument better than the rest of us, she is somehow fit to be a good leader.

Yes. I've never really wanted to until this year. There's a freshman in band, Bumble Bee, that can't march. He doesn't seem to understand how to glide step. He puts his toes up a little bit, but otherwise walks normally. There are times when I've seen him "marching" to his spot on the beat, until about 3 or 4 steps before the end of the move. During those 3 or 4 counts he only takes to steps. he can never remember where he's supposed to go, which sucks because there are at least 2 times in the show where he's in the front of a line and we all have to guide off of him. I'm hoping that now that we're back from band camp we can work with him during sectionals. But right now it looks like there's no hope for him.

There is this one chick "Bobina" in my section who we (we as in my section lol) would like to strangle. She is super cheery and happy and polite. Usually I like that in a person, but she fakes it so that way you can't criticize her without you sounding super rude (I still do it anyways).
She is also a bad marcher. I would be ok with that except she gets really pissed off if you try to help her or tell her about it so she won't do it again. And she never listens to any advice, she just ignores me cause I'm "not a section leader." I don't see how that would matter since she doesn't listen to them either.
And she also tried to get me to switch sets with her. She has an alternate and I don't. In our show we are using backdrops and I am going to teach people the backdrop moves. She has to do backdrops when her alternate is marching, I don't, I just teach everyone the backdrop moves. She tried to be super polite so I couldn't say no and tried to land me with "backdrop duty." I said no anyways though. xd

gah! it's so annoying! she talks back to the flippin' band director!
ALSO the freshmen picc players that totally suck, but think they should all be first chair. seriously.
"omg, i actually have to practice for once?"
"are you serious? you should be practicing everyday. then you might get the music right for once. (noob)"

Our section leader Bobina is totally evil. She threatens us all the time. And then she wonders why we don't like her. Then theres Bob, the evil bari sax player who is always yelling "RUN! RUN! RUN!" whenever we have to run to our spots and he's always talking and trying to tell people what to do. We are all just like "Bob, shut up!" Then there Bob the evil drummer. He thinks he's better than everyone even though this is only his second year in band. He's always mouthing off to all the section leaders and Bobina is the only one that makes him run laps and stuff. >.> Stupid Bobina, Bob, and bob! Then theres Bob who insists on playing the first part even though he sucks at playing the trumpet and he's always telling the rookies what to do and he has no idea what he's doing! He's so annoying.

A certain Bob the trumpeter that is in band solely for the purpose of being near his love, who sits next to him. Who happens to already have a boyfriend. Anyway, this Bob, he talks...and talks...and doesn't play...and talks... He never does anything he's told, slouches, and never shows up to anything the band is required to come to. A certain Bobette happens to annoy me also, but is also a good friend... I'm stuck. She plays tuba, which has nothing to do with it really, but she tries to run the low brass section. Which I am in charge of. Grr.

there is a freshman who somehow made it onto the line playing Tennors, and he is a speed demon.
theres a drum line feature in the second song of our show for this year, and he was playing at like 40000000BPM when the rest of us were at 60. stare when i sharpen the edges of the crappy cymbals we have and go on a homicidal rampage, he is first. twisted scream twisted

Sometimes, I wish I could smack our head drum major a few times, especially at rehearsal today. For some odd reason unknown to me, he seems to have a habit of wanting the alternates to stop talking, moving, or other things like that, but doesn't seem to care if we're (the alternates) on the wrong drill by about 2 or 3 pages. There are times when we can't even agree where to place a straight line, yet he never seems to notice, even if he's standing maybe 5 feet in front. And while I'm on the subject, hardly anybody, even the directors, ever actually cares where the alternates are or what they're doing.
Also, going back a year, there were these two flutes who could never shut their traps, although in truth, the whole band was usually talking (80-90% of the band was 7th grade.) In fact, there was a period of time when one got moved to the first row, just to prevent them from contacting each other.

Actually there is this one girl who i've been competing against (both flutes) and she is supposibly my BFF. but hear this, whatever i do she friggen does the same thing. i buy a new flute she buys one, i try out for picc then she tries out(even though she didn't care about picc but i did), i go play jazz piano and then she trys to also, etc!!! GRRRR!!! its like whatever i do she tries to make me miserable. AND the other thing is she barly comes to marching band practice. eather she leaves early, comes late or doesn't show! mad then she goes and acts all inocent and crap(everyone thinks shes an angel but i know who she really is cuz we were supposibly friends).it friggen pisses me off. i've wanted to seirously punch her in the face HARD CORE!!! GAHH! sorry for rambling on but it felt good.

Eee, I still have issues with Bobina from last year. S: But let's pretend she doesn't exist, hm? There's a Bob that plays tuba. He's a freshman and he's always trying to get close to the girls in the band. When he gets close, he breathes down our necks and gives us the "*****" look so whenever we're around him, we travel in groups so he'll leave us alone. Aside from that, he's horribly lazy and can never hit his spots. Never. Ever. He doesn't play music either. Bob on baritone. He's a junior. He's a section leader but he literally only got the position because he was there while the other baritone player was out of town. He can't play his music, he never hits his spots, and he disrespects everyone, especially girls. At a meet and greet, he began talking trash about the drum major, "She is so ugly!!" and stuff. The guard captain heard him and sent him back to the stands. He isn't allowed to go to meet `n greets anymore but he's still the same arrogant a**. -_-

Two Words: Margaret McQueen.
I know none of you know her, but ugh. She makes me want to kill myself. I'm the clarinet section leader but she thinks since I missed a few rehearsals to go to Germany over the summer that she's entitled to my position. I can't stand her. She over blows her clarinet and makes it squeak all the time.
Ugh. I'm getting frusterated just talking about her. Never mind. I thought this was a good idea, now I'm just mad. xd Nice try though.

Our section leader Bobina last year was power hungry! At first she was really nice. "Oh, don't worry about" and really helped us with music and was polite about it. Then she became all b*tchy. She made a few of my fellow freshman flutes cry. There was one time when she picked three flutes to play a movement of the show and mark time as well. She purposely picked three who didn't know the show very well and were completly new to marching band (yeah, I was one of them scream ) Luckily, Bobina graduated last year. Since our section didn't really get any new people, we tend to make fun/complain about her. Then we saw her at a compitition this last weekend. We ignored her and totally showed her up while performing. We kinda sucked last year and now we're one of the best sections in the band cuz we're the only ones beside drumline who has their music all memorized. That didn't happen last year.
Then there's Bobina who's still in the flute section and is a sophomore with me. All of eighth grade and the beginning of marching band, we were good friends. I even got her lunch during band camp! Well, freshman year started, and we acted like friends, talking to eachother. Then she just started to ignore me. I found out that she was talking about me behind my back, saying things like "I wish she would just trip and die!" I did nothing to her to act like that! Her personality changed from beginning of freshman year to now. She purposely tries to get me mad. She tries to 'help' me with marching. However, you can tell she's trying to seem better than me by her tone. Of course, when I try to help her in a polite tone, she just ignores me or bites my head off. Of course, I either do what she says or ignore her, but eventually I got so tired of it I just told her to shut up. I have a reputation of being quiet, polite, and pretty much a pushover. Kinda the opposite of what I really am. As proven by how I reacted. The section leaders got mad at both of us, though especially at her, since I was just reacting. Bobina, by the way, is not the best marcher in the world. Not the worst, but there are plenty of people who are better in the flute section. She can't keep her flute parallel to save her life and she plays first part, since we got to choose, even though she can't play the notes. So she seems to think she's better than me because I play second part (even though I know all the scales by memory and know some minor scales and can play all octives of the flute, none of which she can do). Then she talks all the time, calls the BDs retards, a stalker, and doesn't even really like band. She's just in it because there happens to be quite a few cute boys in it. Luckily, she's gotton more tolerable now since I snapped at her. She's even completmented me on one thing. But she's still annoying. I'm planning to tryout for section leader just to piss her off. sweatdrop
Ahhhh, that felt good to get off my chest.
