Vanguard noted quietly with a small inflection of sadness. This was quickly waylayed when he looked up and saw something looking back at him, large and rounded oddly. The clay looked very strange now, and socially awkward and lacking in mirrors as he was, Vanguard completely missed the point of the transformation, even as it shot its vines after him.

"But you are not a warforged,"

He corrected it levely, twisting hard to try and distance himself, and channeling power of earth th mark the creature and power his thrust toward it again.

Van still doesn't manage to break free of the mass clinging to him, but the well placed spear does disrupt his opponent's impression of him.

Being the first time Brother Mercutio heard the Carbunkles, he looked a tad bewildered.

"... what in the abyss was that?" looking around. One of the golden armadillos just... melted? Not very far away, so apparently, whatever said that must have hurt the creature. He'd figure it out later.

"WAIT!" Brother Mercutio shouted at the top of his lungs.

The missionary would huff it from his current position, S3, SW2, W1, trying to get as close to both Clay Monsters as possible. If Enveloper 1 has threatening reach, I provoke.

He would use summon up all his divine missionary goodness, and speak on behalf of his God. Emissary of the Gods!

Vanguard would have frowned, but his face seemed impaired to such expressions, instead just producing a blank pause as he thought it over.

"It will not let go of me," he noted in plaintive deadpan, his only objection to the sentiment. It would be nice if the clay thing could still be his friend. Just as long as it let go.

Vanguard had yet to understand the friendly social grappling phenomenon of hugging.
