As he suspected, he explanation has gone right over the boy's head. Pasa is trying to understand though and has gotten the gist of things.

Now this the boy understands and he nods eagerly. "Yes, mes'sirrah... 10 questions... can I ask more than ten?" His eyes are sparkling brightly.
"Better limit him, Uncle. My head is still spinning from this morning's inquisition." moans a voice from the couch. Looking over he sees Keva lying there in humanoid form with an icebag on his head.

Nope...ten, and ten alone...sometimes science is also knowing what questions should be asked, and what should be found out for one's self.
Now, how about your writing...how goes the copy-work?

The boy gets up and goes to his room, returning with a wooden case which he puts on the table. He opens it and takes out several sheets of paper. Spreading them out he shows them to Kerobian. "I... I found several berries that made a pretty good ink, mes'sirrah. Or I thought they did. The all turned kind of brown though after a few hours."

Certain juices do that...it's called oxidation, and you'll learn about it in science. If you need ink, Pasa, just ask me, okay...I have dozens of types, in every color you can imagine, and a goodly number you cannot...

"Kero" calls Keva from the couch. "Can you come here please?"

The kitsune reaches out to touch him and sighs mentally. "Only way I can reach ye and not leak over, allowing him to hear." He cracks a blood shot eye and gives the mage a weak grin. "He's that damn good and my head is that dang sore right now... anyway... ye've busted his balloon... thought I'd tell ye that. He drug me all over creation this morning, looking fer salt and just the right kind of berry. He was so damn proud of what he had done as well."

And I will let him know I'm proud of him very soon....as my ink cannot hold up to weathering like others can, as it is forged of magic, not physical items. I am very proud of Pasa for creating this ink, and I intend to tell him so.

I haven't had to really get stern with him yet...and he hasn't seen my mistakes yet, either, so he would. I'm waiting for him to pull a major prank, something I can fairly get onto him for, so that I can show him that I am mean and strict sometimes. Just to get his head around the fact that I'm not perfect.
