We're just starting. If we're lucky, some of us will make it to insight rank 2. Things will be different...I hope.

Mongooseh You make it sound like a bad thing plain. One spree of luck making a sword and I make a legendary weapon : O The measure of success isn't determined by how well you roll, it's determined by the number of raises you make. Check page 190 for crafting things! You will need 8 raises to be able to create a Legendary blade. That means, you'll need either a Void of 7, or a Craft: Weaponmaking skill of 6, and spend a void point for a free raise (and use the free raise you get for having the skill at at least rank 5). Not to mention, you'll need higher Intelligence so you can keep a number of dice to offset the ridiculously high TN of 50. Not going to be easy!

Psychofish The other two are closed events, no spectators? *spends the duration of them investigating for CRIMINAL SCUM* The only closed one is the Lore one, so nonparticipating friends can't shout out hints smile

Psychofish Well, Naizen would probably be a big risk of blackmailing you. And I guess that could land Denbe with the Blackmail advantage, but... Oh, so its advantageous for you to be blackmailed? I think I can arrange that smile

QFT Quote: I need something to do before I wind up making this character. For some reason my mind keeps stewing over the idea of creating a Crab whose life dream is to punch an Oni to death. There's a Hida Wrestler Bushi school in Art of the Duel, page 28. Alternatively, you could start with a Hiruma Scout, and take the Hiruma Grappler Path (page 31) and get a late start for Hida Wrestler, and be more of a stealth Oni puncher. Or you could be part of the Badger clan.

Psychofish lol Someday, I will make that character. But today, I play Denbe. Who tries too hard to do every thing to likely ever get that good at one thing. So far I mostly thank exploding tens and some application of raises. That's the beauty of L5R. You can increase skills if you want to be good at a couple very specific things, or you can increase your rings if you want to be good at many things smile

Well, there's only so much "Softer" you can hit in L5R.....unless you can make raises to aim your shot to do less damage?

Actually, I could have dropped one of the 8s, probably both. But I'm more avoiding making raises (If I'd wanted him down I would have tried one, maybe two for damage and then dropped a die if it went too high) than trying to hit real soft. I'm just amused that I put in that flavortext, and then get double 8s.
