tam looks at the stars... my parents have been together for a very long time... and i've been apart of their lives for almost as long...
ma met dad when he was but a dwindling spirit in a shattered temple... he was stubborn... and so sure his people would come to relieve him of his duty... see they too turns tending the temple... but something happened while he was on guard there... and no one came to relieve him... he was there for eons... or so it seemed... to him at least... and ma... she heard him singing one night... and she came to listen... and then she came again... and again... and again... never letting him see her... but he knew she was there... after a time he stopped looking for his people and started looking for her... but she refused to be caught...
then one night... while he was serenading her they heard someone else singing... and the song was so sad they had to find out who it was... of course dad had no idea ma was looking for the singer, too... and she did not know he was out and about the temple as well...
the person they found was.... me...
tam lowered his head to his knees and sighed....

no... it was kind of funny really... i was pretty much the same age i am now... only less capable, if ye know what i mean... as for what i am... i don't know... i am me... that's all i know... i am talesian... i am a bard.... when i sing... wonderful things happen... or horrible iffin i get angry...
but there they were one to each side of me clearing... both determined to take care of me... tam sighed... and determined they were... they fought like cats and dogs... then i started to sing that tune i just sang.... and me dad joined in... and then ma... and then somehow we all knew we were supposed to be together... i was a regualr noob i was... dad had to teach me how to take a bath... and ma was determined to make sure i knew the finer points of etiquette...

well, child...you learned well...my story is just as strange...I have lived multiple lives...I've been completely and truly deaged three times...in mind and body...and some of my childhood stories would curl your hair...I almost started a war once...couldn't sit down for a century when my master caught me on that one...

tam chuckles softly... i bet...
anyway... after a time... dad began to open court ma and they decided to pair... and since they didn't know what to do with me just yet... they claimed me as they son... over time i learned some rudimentary magic... found a few shapes i could easily shift into... and well... found a purpose in life.. sort of... i still have no idea as to where i came from... ma once said that wandering spirits sometimes get lost... well and truly lost... and forget they've died... but... ye know... i've never felt as if i've been anything but what i am... me... talesian... or tam, iffin ye want... i don't age... so i have no idea as to how old i am... uncle jor tried to read me once and gave up... he called me an enigma.... of course they didn't tell him i wasn't theirs... so maybe he was just confused... whe meribel called me the walker of the long march... it rang a bell... but i'll be damned iffin i know why...

tam thinks about this for a moment then shakes his head no... not anymore... at one time i might have jumped at the chance to know... but ye know... maybe there's a reason i'm the way i am... bopping me on the head never returned me memory... so maybe there isn't one... and wouldn't that be a trip... the knowledge that yer a nothing... a nobody... he shudders at the thought... then laughs ruefully... i think i'm better off me... don't ye?

It's not so bad, ye know...being nothing...but it does get old after a while...that's what got me into trouble so much when I was younger...boredom at being nothing...what'd ye usually get in trouble for?
I remember one time...it was right after Jor adopted me...I wanted to go out and play...I was maybe 50,000...I went out even though he said not to...lost my focus...and a timeslip caught me...I spent a minute older than dirt...and wound up back in diapers with all my intelligence...not fun...
