Charybdis continued along with the rest of the team. He wasn't that bothered by the cocoons, bodies, smell, any of that anymore. However as they proceeded the mechanical sounds began to bother him. Not from hearing them or them being too loud...they just did. The tubes of liquid that were clearly man-made and unnatural. Even worse...the large tube with a human body inside of it that suddenly shifted and turned into a creature.
Charybdis looked visible distraught. It wasn't that he was freaked out about it...or grossed out. It didn't bother him that a human body turned into a monster. What bothered him was everything else about this place. He could understand and rationalize the natural things. He was unbothered by the idea of a natural creature that could have done all this. However this was not natural, this was something else. He didn't understand and so he wanted little to do with it outside of simply accomplishing his job now. He was already quiet, however would give his input when he felt necessary...this time he had nothing to say about it.
He simply nodded when Thresher mentioned not turning back. This was part of their job. They didn't seem like they would be finished with it by just walking in this far and then walking out again. However as Thresher went to smash the tube with the body floating inside it Charybdis worriedly took a few steps away from where Thresher and the tube was as if to avoid it. He wanted to keep his distance if possible...and it was possible considering how he could combat things if necessary.

However, these extra limbs were intentionally made imperfect as they were easier and less excruciating to produce. Thresher's bloodlust caught Miyuki off-guard. She understood being hot-blooded and fight-hungry, but what kind of adrenaline junkie could shrug off these kinds of monstrosities? She realized, suddenly, that she really knew nothing about her team - or their controlled apathy in the face of unspeakable crimes against humanity.
However, there was no time to dwell on it. A man looking like a stereotypical monk appeared between Thresher and the bottled body, blocking the strike with a palm that glowed white. For a moment, nothing happened. Then the bald man spoke brokenly, as if affected by some sort of mental stress. "Do - you - believe - in - the - power - of - the - soul?" He looked up, meeting Thresher in the eye despite the fact he had no pupils or iris, a wicked grin adorning his face. "You - will."
Two dark red yokai-looking creatures appeared from behind the monk somewhere, one coming at Charybdis with fists charged in dehydration chakra, trying to sock him [ Fire Needle [ Kabari ] | Rank C ]. The other yokai ran past Thresher, locking eyes on her blade in order to heat it to an unbearable level with Shakuton chakra [ To Heat [ Atatameru ] | Rank S ]. Then, the yokai split the difference between Miyuki and Thesher, expelling heated dehydrated air in all directions, affecting all three of the shinobi if they weren't careful [ Scorch Release: Heatwave [ Shakuton: Neppa ] | Rank A ].
"Careful!" Miyuki cried out, generating a strong wind blast from her palm in order to disperse the wave of dehydration caused by the second yokai [ Beast Wave: Gale Wind Palm [ Juha: Reppushou ] | Rank A ]. It caught most of the attack, throwing it back in the direction of the yokai before the blast became concussive and knocked the creature backwards a few feet.
"What have you done?" She looked in the direction of the monk as she drew her Ukyo blade, even as the second yokai returned to his feet. "What is going on here?" Her voice shook with hysterics - after all, how was she was supposed to react to the cocoon-ripped bodies, the testing tubes, the metamorphosis?
"Are - you - strong - enough - to - find - out?" The monk taunted, moving away from Thresher so she could deal with the yokai like Charybdis. He stood on the transformed tube, tilting his head down at all of the shinobi like they were putting on a show for him. "Can - you - even - handle - my - subjects?"

tab"Whatter ya jabberin’ on about?!” Thresher snarled in response to the monk. The girl did her best to wrench her blade from his palm, but some mysterious force kept the metal lodged there like stone. Even as the two yokai appeared, Thresher was still unable to dislodge her blade. She could feel the metal heating up and heating up as the blade started to glow red. In a matter of seconds, the sharkgirl could hear the sound of sizzling as the heat began to tear away at her palms. “Awh, ********! Dammit!” She snarled, letting go on the blade and jumping back to standing near Miyuki. The artist managed to blow away the oncoming wave of red heat and, if it was anything like what she just felt, Thresher was grateful.
Something smelled funny, however, from the older Chunin. Thresher took a sniff that, given their proximity, Miyuki would be able to hear. The Hoshigaki knew it well and, if the runt was anything like her, then maybe he’d smell it too. Fear, rolling off of Miyuki like a fog. Thresher looked behind her at her comrade through the corner of her eye, without turning away from the yokai. “Lissen.” Thresher began, her gaze following the two demons as they would pace around the ninja, like predators getting ready to maim their prey. “If yer gonna be scared, go do it somewhere else. The exit’s back tha’ way.” As she spoke, the Hoshigaki jerked her thumb back the way they came. “But tha’ headban’ a’ yers means somethin’, right? It did to th’ guy tha’ gave me mine.” If Miyuki took the time to look at the Arashi headband tied to Thresher’s upper arm, the artist would see it would be frayed and worn from combat, darkened with stains that were presumably blood. The man that drove Thresher to seek out what made the shinobi life worth dying for flashed into the sharkgirl’s mind, and she felt herself slide into a combat ready stance. “So if ya wanna run an’ hide, do it where yer not in th’ way.”
Thresher willed her chakra through her body and her already monstrous frame started to grow taller and more bulky. Her grey skin became more blue tinted and her teeth grew by inches, the girl’s eyes going completely black over. When she spoke again, Thresher’s voice came out more guttural than before. “While we get these ******** outta our village!” With a roar, Thresher made a standing long jump at the yokai that made her blade useless! In a flash of speed despite her larger size, Thresher was up above the yokai with her leg held high. As she came crashing down, Thresher slammed her leg down upon the demon with a kick as sharp as any sword. Whether it hit or not, Thresher would slam into the ground in a crouch, only to rise to her full height and let out a beastly roars that shook the cavern.

Second Action:
▰ Scattered Blossoms | Rank D | Simple (S+ Rank Potency) The Kyotoryuu delivers a powerful ax kick while above the target as they fall to earth. This ax kick carries the user's dangerous ability to slice with their taijutsu. The ax kick slices through its target with ease while delivering such a concussive blast that it sends the target plummeting into the earth. The sheer impact creates a cater five feet in width per rank of the technique, measuring half as deep.
Third Action:
▰ Call of the Wild [ Yaseinoyobigoe ] | Rank B This involves a roar or other mode of communication suited for a clan member in beast mode. This technique inflicts the second tier of insanity on every enemy in the topic. This also removes one offensive activation from all targets their next turn and prevents ninja pets or summoned animals from using any activations in their following turn.
Charybdis perhaps had to take a moment to calm himself. However with the appearance of a new figure speaking....oddly he stayed quiet. This seemed to be the man responsible for all the things here...and that just made him want to not deal with him too much. That being said it wasn't long before the man seemed to sicc creatures on them. Yokai apparently, but judging from everything they've seen likely not completely true to their appearance.
None the less, combat was combat. Charybdis knew this was part of the job and would have to od such. His position changed to be very similar to that that Thresher took..with one big difference his tentacles extended from his body and pointed forwards as if they were part of how he used the style of fighting...his signature style of fighting...Kyotoryuu. Lightning crackled around his body, and a stream of water flowed continuously around him it seemed. It was like he was mixing multiple styles of combat together. And not only tha the would soon show his power.
He himself didn't look at it as much of anything special though. This was normal to him. His assailant would find himself face to face with a monster in his own right. Charybdis didn't pull punches...or well strikes in this case. His body was practically unmoving...however his tentacles seemed to react instead of his arms. A tentacle thrusting forwards not at the creature's body but at the creature's own fist. As if Charybdis was putting in effort to show that he was superior to this creature despite his calm and very not arrogant look as he fought. The flowing water quickly made it's way up to the nub of the tentacle, electrical crackling filled the air as the thrust aimed to meet the fist of the yokai-like creature would go forth. A mixture suiton chakra, raiton chakra, and a piercing strike to boot that would...if the creature let it hit without stopping his attack...likely slice the arm of the being in half.

This technique gains a [2] point increase in strength.
Miyuki narrowed her eyes ungratefully at Thresher's flippant comments, but the older woman bit her words back at the sight of the new monstrous form that Thresher took on. It did nothing but confirm some of Miyuki's concerns about her team - that she was working with monsters herself. A glance at Charybdis, who was tentacled and unexpressive as he sliced a yokai in half, did nothing to ease Miyuki's anxiety. Turning back to Thresher, she watched as the feral kunoichi slammed a creature in the ground before roaring in a way that sent shivers down Miyuki's spine.
"Wh-what the ********> she murmured as she looked between her teammates. But she couldn't leave. Her headband did mean something, and she had to fight in order to keep her parents afloat. This was bigger than her.
"Not - getting - along?" The monk laughed cruelly, though it seemed a little more unhinged than before. His hands glowed with the white soul chakra again. "You - aren't - very - connected. - I - can - fix - that." He raised his palms overhead, and all of a sudden, a spiritual, almost illusory thread appeared from each of the shinobis' chests, connecting them to one another. They each had just a heartbeat to examine the scene as it unfolded before they each suddenly blacked out.
Opening her eyes, Miyuki would feel herself appear taller than she was used to and her heart was racing. She looked down at her hands and saw rough sharkskin. Wait. She looked up in a panic, and saw her own body, and saw Charybdis' body to the side, but... something was off. The posture of each of them was wrong. "What have you done!?" Miyuki asked, except her voice came out like Thresher's.
"Transformation - is - important - for - the - soul. - Do - you - feel - reincarnated? - Saved? - It - is - my - life's - work." His smile was pleased as punch as he watched the trio try to navigate themselves as Thresher was in Charybdis' body and Charybdis was inside Miyuki's body now.

Thresher, in all her years of life, had never once been stabbed in the heart. Yet when the monk lifted his hand and shot the string of light from his hand, that energy pierced through Thresher like she was made of butter. Instantly she came to a halt on her short rampage, frozen in place and all she could do was look around, seeing that her teammates were much in the same way. She did her best to grit her teeth though the pain but holy s**t was it a lot. It hurt in a way Thresher, with her limited vocabulary, couldn’t describe. Her chest was in pain, but if she was forced to recount the sensation later, the ninja would have to say it hurt at ‘her heart but a little to the left.’
Thresher, her vision shaking, looked up at the monk. “I’ll kill ya, fer this…” She started.
“Ya short a**, bald headed, s**t for brains!” When her vision came back, Charybdis’s voice had finished her insult. She was proud of the shrimp for a second, until it she’d realized something. SHe looked around and his position on the battlefield was entirely different! And she could see her body… standing… over there. “Wha-?” From Thresher’s position, she could hear the voice of the shrimp. The girl was even more confused than anyone else in the group, most likely. Her torrent of emotions, the overwhelming rage, hadn’t just faded. It had disappeared entirely, leaving her very soul weary. It felt like even her confusion was a forced emotion, flowing out like a stopped up hose. Slowly, even her walnut sized brain could figure out what happened. Or at least… sort of. “Ha, not falling for it this time!” Thresherbdis slammed a handsign together and expelled as much chakra as she could. “Kai!”
She proudly opened her eyes, expecting the genjutsu to be broken. Except it hadn’t, as she was still in the smaller body of the kid. “Wha th’ ******** just happened? I was sure that’d work!”
• Kai | Rank D | The user forms a hand sign, flooding their chakra network with a sudden burst of chakra that negates any foreign chakra affecting the user. This is commonly used to release genjutsu but has other purposes. Requires expending chakra in equal rank and potency to the technique being broken. Flooding the brain with chakra completely dispells the hallucinations from enchantment, instance, and chain category genjutsu immediately. The chakra in the brain also mentally focuses the user and reveals the images of illusory category genjutsu as obviously fake but does not completely dispell them because they are outside of the brain but the user is still released from the illusory technique's effects. Multiple genjutsu can be released at once using Kai as long as the appropriate amount of chakra is applied but genjutsu can also be selectively released.
Charybdis was a bit proud of himself for a moment. He hadn't shown it but cleaving the beast in half the way he did excited him. Everything quickly changed when the string of chakra that suddenly connected him and his allies seemingly knocked him out for a moment. His eyes opening, he observed his surroundings. He immediately realized he was in a different position...was that his body? He was feeling anxious, a bit panicked...a lot panicked actually. Fear, his body was barely responsive. "Wha-"
He barely got even a word out. His voice was different....horror hit him as he lifted his arms and looked at his now normal colored skin. Looked down seeing the completely different dress he wore and the completely different body. Tears would begin flowing from his eyes....not his eyes Miyuki's eyes. He took steps backwards before collapsing onto the ground. "No, No, No..." He spoke, voice still jarring to him, the panic that was already being experienced by Miyuki's body enhancing Charybdis' feelings of this situation.
What would he do now? What if this was permanent? How would he deal with this? How could he deal with this? He had one thing he wanted out of his life and he was sure that this was a complete hindrance to that goal. His hands would clasp around the panicking body's head, over the ears as if he wanted to not hear anything anymore. Eyes closed and head facing downwards towards the ground as if hoping and praying that this was just a dream. Not only was this already far from normal, he was sure this was going to ruin everything he wanted. The usually calm Charybdis was a complete mess due to the combination of the panic from Miyuki's body and his own mental panic from the situation itself. Barely...if at all able to do anything.

tab Miyuki felt absolutely feral. Her teammates were acting strange as they were in brand new bodies and this whole mission was going south. She couldn't panic about it anymore; all she could hear was the blood pounding in her ears and the faint, almost certainly psychosomatic sound of her opponent's blood in her ears as well. The latter was so annoying, she wanted to make it stop, wanted to establish she was the leader, the best.
"Screw you, how about that?! What are you going to feel when I rip your soul out your body?!" She roared, animalistic, and she'd never felt so good before. "Just - like - the - Iron; - you - cannot - bear - the - weight - of - your - own - soul - in - a - new - container," the monk mused. Had Miyuki been in control of herself, she'd have taken note of the presence of the Iron samurai; such a kidnapping in Arashigakure would create tension politically.
But she didn't care. She tried to pick up the blade and its burn singed her hand, making her hiss angrily. The monk threw some spirit-y looking chakra ball her way, which she instinctively chopped away from herself and into a wall of the cave [ Power Chop | Rank D (S+) | Complex ]. The earth shook from the impact, but otherwise nothing else happened. The monk tsk'd. "Do - you - feel - trapped? - Or - free - at - last?"
The monk added a string of light from his soul into each of their chests for a brief moment, and a soul connection was created [ Spiritual Connection [ Mukei Enko ] | Rank E ]. Suddenly, all of the shinobi were prone to the monk's thoughts. "I've saved you, don't you see? I can read your souls now... ah, Miyuki, I've saved you from the paralysis of your anxiety, of your doubt, of your hesitation. You act without such inhibitions now. And, ah, Charybdis, did you even know feeling before this moment? So unmoved by the world around you, and now you're consumed by its confusing nature, trapped in Miyuki's paranoid mind. Dear Thresher... I wonder how your righteous spirit can handle being dampened by the eternal calm of Charybdis. Do you know who you are, anymore, if you can't find it within yourself to crave action?"
A deep part of Miyuki knew he was experimenting on them, that he was learning from their reactions to the spiritual jutsu and he was going to be enabled further in his experimentations, but she couldn't hold onto the thoughts. They were fleeting, lost in a sea that was in turmoil, an ocean of feral anger and pride that demanded satiation. She succumbed to the beast inside once more, roaring as she flexed her claws. The monk laughed at their respective frustrations, throwing out another spiritual sphere at each of them [ Basic Spiritual Attack | Rank A ].
Miyuki moved on instinct again, slamming her foot into the ground to create a gust of wind that would shoot the spirit-ball away [ Peony | Rank C (A) | Complex ]. It collapsed into the wall of the cave again, shaking loose dirt from the ceiling and moving the ground uncomfortably.
Power Chop | Rank X | Complex This technique becomes effective when the target is unable to avoid their opponent's actions. As a physical attack or projectile attack approaches the user, they hold their hands up before the attack. Not being able to feel her usual vast depth of emotions, Thresher was finding it hard to access her power reserves. On top of that, constantly being punched in the face by the damned tentacles was making it hard for her to even think about thinking. It took a few precious seconds but Thresher was finally able to stop hitting herself, but that was all she felt confident in doing with them at the moment. However, her now unclouded mind was able to better process the words the monk was saying. It made sense on a surface level that having switching with the half pint was better for Thresher. She usually didn’t fight with the most clarity, opting to overwhelm her opponents with her own power. But now Thresher was able to fully read the battlefield and, for the first real time, stay level headed in the heat of combat. Was this Charybdis’s version of strength? The stoic practicality that allowed him to come up with the perfect plan amongst the chaos of combat?
Thresher shook her head. Since when was she so pensive? But even while what the bald b*****d was factual, that didn’t mean it was right. “I don’t remember signing up for a sermon,” Thresher said to the monk once Miyuki deflected his attack. “You’re talking too much nonsense, so I’ll make this easy for you.” Thresher took a slow step forward and focused her chakra around her, her body becoming wreathed in water. “You put the strongest spirit inside the strongest mind here. All that you’ve done was make kicking your a** the next logical step.”
Thresher entered a stance for just a brief moment before she shot up and forward to the monk's perched position, leaving behind a small shockwave of water. The smaller frame of Charybdis flashed in front of the monk and Thresher muttered. “And buddy I’m about to start walking.” Thresher tensed her palm, her chakra focus allowing it to be conducted with water and electricity that lit up the cavern. She thrust into the monk, hoping to aim for his chin!
Regardless of the hit, Thresher would call out to Miyuki. “You! Stop holding back! My body doesn’t do that! You know who your prey is; so HUNT!”

Words directed towards him seemed to reach him uselessly. His head clouded with his own fear and no where near calm enough to deal with it. The monk speaking would probably make it worse. Looking down on him in that way would only make him feel worse. He was afraid, he didn't want to watch, he wanted this to be a bad dream. He wanted everything to be over and it would be clear through the connection between all of them to the others that was the case. His head turning up, his eyes peeking at what was going on. From the thoughts in his head he could at least tell that Miyuki wasn't dealing well with being inside Thresher's body. He knew he wasn't dealing well...but Thresher...outside of minor issues with his tentacles seemed fine in his body. He then noticed the ball of spiritual energy coming towards him. He couldn't just let it hit Miyuki's body...he didn't know what would happen if he just threw his hands out either. He would form hand seals thinking of a way to defend himself and let the body do the work. A small ball of chakra would form, move in front of him, and turn into a shield strong enough to defend against the attack that had come for him.
During this time however, Thresher rushed in with Charybdis' body, mentioning something that lost him for a moment. Thresher seemed fine, Miyuki was holding back, and Charybdis was not. The monk seemed to also be connected to them somehow and was enjoying this. Thresher's words to Miyuki however hit him as well. Not all of them, but the last few. 'You know who your prey is; so HUNT!' Charybdis' thoughts raced, it was familiar. Especially hearing it from his own voice. The words resonated with him in a way that even he didn't understand just yet. The others would likely notice this due to their connection. Charybdis would stand, within Miyuki's body. He wasn't sure what to do...but he at least knew something...maybe Thresher being in his body would make him remember something. He didn't know how he could help....but he could obviously just...wait until he could figure it out. It would have been easier if Miyuki had done some form of fight he'd seen before but unfortunately that wasn't the case. He wasn't completely calm...he was still worried about not returning to his body. But he wasn't so worried about not figuring out his past anymore. The best he could probably do is defend Miyuki's body while trying to figure out how to fight.

tab Miyuki smiled with Thresher's sharp teeth as she watched her team pull themselves together enough to avoid their attacks. She was proud of Charybdis for protecting himself with a shield. Hopefully, he experienced some degree of instinct from being in her body, but she knew she relied more on strategy as a fighter. "Don't be afraid to try my paintbrush," she recommended, calming down slowly as their soul connection continued to move them all to the middle of their collective demeanors.
As Thresher's words resonated with all of them collectively, Miyuki could only watch in trepidation - and excitement, stemming from the monk - as Thresher attacked the monk directly. The assault hit him in the chin, simultaneously knocking all three of their heads back in a dizzying way. Geez, Miyuki felt like she'd have a concussion as she stumbled backwards and onto her bottom, head spinning from the attack. "Our connection is going to make it impossible to hurt or kill him without doing the same to us," she said with a voice tinged equally in hurt and anger. "Ughh, I can't hunt prey I can't harm," she growled out, angry at the situation because her blood was pumping at the idea of being a predator.
"How can we break the connection?" She had felt a variety of strange things from her teammates, including Charybdis' odd reaction to Thresher's advice to Miyuki, but she had no real inkling. The only idea in her head was to attack the enemy head on - in this case, the soul connection that could vaguely be seen to the naked eye. She grabbed Thresher's blade anyways, pleased she could handle the hilt now, and swung it on the soul connection stringing from her chest, but the blade went right through it. "s**t. We can't use force on the connection or on the monk," she hissed. The monk seemed pleased as punch, but made no other attack at them even as his chin bled and he spat out a chipped segment of tooth. His eyes were wild but he waited with excitement to see what they would do next, no doubt taking mental notes for future experiments.
Thresher was immediately knocked back by the force of her own hit. It hurt, a lot and sent her careening down the ground. She slid against the dirt back enough that she was joined back with her group. “Dammit…” she muttered as she rose to her feet. “Okay, so going in swingin’ won’t work…” Thresher pondered the situation. Encountering problems that she couldn’t brute force her way through was very rare, and forced the sharkgirl to come to a full stop. The monk was able to read their emotions with this damn thread, but it also gave the group another way to communicate and feel. Miyuki felt a frustration that was familiar to Thresher. But Charybdis’ fear and uncertainty was a new wave of emotion washing over Thresher’s consciousness. Thresher wanted nothing more than to sink her fist into the monk’s face again, but… she had other people to worry about this time. Comrades, with the only thing in common being the village they fought for. Thresher gulped as her heart started to race, not used to what she was thinking now.
“Hey, uhm…” She started, looking away from Miyuki and Charybdis. She looked rather bashful, as a faint purple blush crept on her cheeks. ‘D’ya think we need to… worktogetherorsomethin?” Thresher kicked her foot at a pebble. “There’s three of us an on;y one of him, afterall…”

Reeling from the hit the force from the attack on the monk came back to bite them. Charybdis was unsure of how this all worked but it seemed like they said they couldn't really attack the other. The mention of not being afraid to use the brush had Charybdis checking to find the brush mentioned. Ink? He didn't really like ink it brought back some bad memories of him making it and not liking it. That's when everything sort of clicked to him. He might not know how to reverse this, how to beat the monk without beating themselves, or any of that....but he knew how to be calm.
He was still himself, he was just in another person's body. His fear of losing what he had of himself left was gone. His mind cleared, as he took a breath. It wasn't like his body was the reason he was calm in the way that he had shown. The worst case scenario here...in his mind...was simply that they were all stuck with each other forever. Best case they get their bodies back and beat this monk, and a case he wasn't particularly unhappy about would be that they were stuck like this past the mission for a while until they figured out how to reverse this. Taking all this into consideration...he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. As far as using Miyuki's abilities went...he would just have to learn as he went. But it was clear to him now that he wasn't turning into Miyuki...he just experienced a lot in a very short amount of time. Now that some time had passed he was ready.
When he opened his eyes again, he was quite....serene one might say. Almost like you could tell from how he was acting it was simply Charybdis inside Miyuki's body. He would then speak to the others...calmly much too calmly as normal. "I don't know how to beat the uh...monk? But if it gives you peace of mind thinking of it like your mind is what determines how you're doing things makes it easier to be...well...normal?" He said questioning himself almost as he spoke. Scratching the back of his head....Miyuki's head with him inside it....something like that. "But...being calm is probably easier than fighting instincts or trying to get them back. Not sure if I can help Miyuki fight her instincts....but Thresher..." He turned, looked at his body, a smile almost formed on his face...Miyuki's face.
"You know..." The monk seemed to be waiting...not attacking...he had time. The monk's biggest flaw seemed to be his observation of his....'experiment.' Showing a scene would be great...but only worked if he could make it...and he could...or Miyuki could if he envisioned it. The brush in hand quickly moved through the air, ink flowing from the brush mixed with chakra as it formed into the image in his mind. Eyes closed as he let Miyuki's body do the work it needed. "You have a small misconception about me..." He said as the ink formed what almost looked like a storm approaching a small village. "You've heard of the saying, calm before the storm?" As the ink storm approached the calm unsuspecting ink village. "I am still...a predator...like you. Just tap into that and," The storm reaching the village suddenly turned into a shark devouring the ink village. "become the storm."

tab"Teamwork, yeah, we need to try that," Miyuki said confidently as she slammed a fist into her open palm with excitement. "We all know water jutsu, so we should try-" she turned to watch Charybdis in her body, crafting with ink as he gave Thresher a pep talk. It made her heart race to see the seemingly closed-off member of their team express himself through ink - and so beautifully, too. She had to appreciate the aesthetics of it, noting the water that the water was purposefully forefront in the jutsu, letting everything run down in a seemingly natural way, instead of appearing a little more solid like ink techniques typically did.
He was right. They were still themselves. She was still an observant artist, still one to notice aesthetics and critique art that existed without a soul. "Yes! We are who we are, still. There is no jutsu that can remove us from ourselves. Even if I was stuck in this body forever, I will still make the word into a beautiful place so that we can all achieve immortality. That is my nindo, my ninja way!" She jabbed a thumb at her chest in typical, confident Thresher fashion, but her grin was all hers, even if it bore Hoshigaki teeth.
The soul threads from everyone's chest had been connected in the middle, allowing the monk access to each of them. However, it broke from Miyuki immediately, and then Charybdis as his painting came to its end. "Yes! Yes, we're doing it! Thresher, I need you to believe you are still the predator that you are. Nothing can stop you, not even a new body," she said as the monk flinched from their broken connections.
"No - no - you - can't - break - free. - I - haven't - finished - changing - you - yet," he said as his face contorted in anger. He generated a katana out of soul energy, but he didn't brandish it against each of them. "You - will - become - One - or - you - will - perish, the b*****d said as he held the blade against his stomach, clearly threatening to kill himself and take out the still-connected Thresher with him.
Miyuki's mind raced, but she didn't see any way out besides Thresher uniting with herself. She had no iryo to heal Thresher, no way to hurt the monk without hurting Thresher by the same token because of the soul connection. She grabbed the large blade again and tried to slice the connection once more, but the blade went right through it again. "Damn it. Charybdis, you have any ideas?"
“Predator, huh…?” Thresher closed her eyes as she let Charybdis’ words resonate within her. It was true enough that the boy shared her same blood, the kind that began to boil at the thought of the hunt. But it wasn’t until she heard the monk begin to speak did something in her mind and her teammates' body start to click together. Thresher took in a long whiff, smelling the familiar scent of fear. Of desperation. Of the internal struggle from something that knew it’d lost and was cornered trying to fight for its life. The smell of blood that hung on the air, flowing from her prey after her last strike, metallic and full of life.
An uncharacteristic smile formed on the face of the young boy, showing rows of shark-like teeth as his body started to give a faint glow. Thresher’s heightened senses and her rising excitement allowed her to draw from the energy around her, filling the small container with Nature Chakra as she prepared for her own hunt. “Ya plannin’ on takin’ me out wit’ that?” She taunted, taking a few steps forward as her teeth visibly became sharper. “Ya better make it count then! Better make it hurt!” As Thresher finished morphing into the familiar Hoshigaki Sage Mode, she took one last step forward. “‘Cause if ya don’t-” The girl’s smaller body disappeared in the blink of an eye, appearing instantly in front of the monk, her hand gripping the blade and pressing the tip into the man’s stomach. As she did, blood began to trickle from her own stomach as the sharp tip opened a small wound on the monk. “Then it’ll come back to bite you.” As Thresher spoke, the only light on her face were on her rows of sharp teeth and her ocean blue eyes, glowing much like how they had in her previous body. She tightened her grip on the energy blade and, using the power gifted to her by her Sage Mode, used the monk’s own blade to stab him in the stomach!
